Rhode, Nicole Lea (Santoski) Nicole Lea (Santoski) Rhode, 28, a beautiful, strong, gentle-hearted, good humored, radiant young woman who lived in Appleton most of her life, died unexpectedly, in her sleep, at home Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007; and we who love her so much are stunned, overwhelmed and heart-broken.

She was born Saturday, May 12, 1979, in Appleton, to William and Debra (Shillcox) Santoski. Having found "the man of her dreams", Nicole married Eric Rhode on October 1, 2005, and their love grew stronger and made them both more and more beautiful and happy.

Nicole was employed at Humana in De Pere since 1998, where she was regarded as an excellent worker and a good friend. But it was her family that was "her life". She and Eric were making a wonderful life together and looking forward to a long and happy future.

Nicole was an awesome and loving mother to her two beautiful daughters: Mikayla Anne (age 9) and Grace Estelle (7 months). She was so dedicated to them, and despite all that it required of her, Nicole found her greatest joy in her family life!

She will be missed so deeply by her wonderful, loving husband, Eric; her two girls, Mikayla and Grace; her parents, Bill and Deb Santoski, Appleton; her brother, Ryan Santoski and special friend, Julie Jilek, Milwaukee; her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Germaine Shillcox, Appleton; her paternal grandparents, Clem and Jeanette Santoski, Port Edwards, Wis.; her uncles and aunts, Father Tim Shillcox O. Praem, De Pere; Robert and Lynn Santoski, Houston, Texas; Jean and Dennis Opelt, Green Bay; Donald Santoski and wife, April Brazell, Chicago, Ill.; Julie Fry, Mountainview, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Nicole Rhode, Boston, Mass.; her mother-in-law, Norma Rhode and special friend, Jerry Kopitzke, Appleton; her father-in-law, Russell Rhode and wife, Susan Renkens, Appleton. Many, many friends and co-workers will miss her as well, most especially, her cherished and loyal friend, Kelly Rice, Neenah.

Nicole now holds in her arms her infant sister, Lauren Kelly Santoski, who preceded her to heaven in 1982.

Friends may visit with the family at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the corner of Suburban Drive and Lourdes Avenue, West De Pere, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23. Then to ease our grief, and to strengthen our Hope in the Resurrection of the Dead through Jesus Christ, and to celebrate Nicole's earthly and Eternal life, so that we may go on, we will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem, Nicole's dear uncle and godfather, presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha.

A memorial fund has been established for the education of Nicole's daughters, Mikayla and Grace.

Nicole, we love you so much, and we don't know what we are going to do without you here. Any one of us would have gone instead of you. We entrust you to the embrace of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, and we promise to take care of Mikayla and Grace and help them to know and remember how awesome and beautiful their Mom is! We will hold you in our hearts always and look forward to seeing you again in Heaven.
