    Blajeski, Harriet


    Harriet Blajeski, 76, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on April 8, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. The good Lord saw that she was getting tired, put His arms around her and took her home. Harriet was born on August 6, 1933, to Joseph and Petronella "Nellie" Van Den Bogart. On September 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to John "Jack" Blajeski at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1999, after 42 years of marriage. Harriet was employed at Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna for 32 years and then at Copps for 16 years, where she made many special friends. She enjoyed her two grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Harriet also enjoyed crocheting, bowling and playing cards with her five special friends — Lois, Dianne, Deb, Sue and Mary.

    Harriet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Kuehl and her two grandchildren, Cheri and Jonathan. She is also survived by brothers: Peter (Geri) and Richard Van Den Bogart; sisters-in-law: Shirlyne Van Den Bogart and JoAnne Van Den Bogart (Gasser), Lee Blajeski and Delores Blajeski; brothers-in-law: Tom (Carol) Blajeski, Clifford Hansen and LeRoy Heimerl; as well as many special nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

    Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; granddaughter Krystal; sisters: Marie Hansen, Minnie Heimerl, and Theresa (Jerry) Lyman; brothers: John, Joseph and William Van Den Bogart; brothers-in-law: Randall and William Blajeski; and sister-in-law, Blanche (Edward) Jirikowic.

    Visitation will be held Monday April 26, 2010, beginning at 3 p.m. until time of Mass at 5 p.m. at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH-ST. ALOYSIUS SITE (1401 Main Ave. Kaukauna) with Fr.     Age 68, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1931, in Kaukauna, son of the late Walter and Mary [Kramer] Blajeski. On September 9, 1957 he married the former Harriet VanDenBogart at St. Nicholas Catholic in Freedom. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. Jack had worked for Thilmany's for 43 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed bike riding, bowling, swimming, softball and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always a helping hand to everyone. Jack's life will continue through the donations of his organs. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Kaukauna, and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club.

    Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Harriet, Kaukauna; a daughter, Cherly Kuehl, Kaukauna; a son in-law, Kendall Kuehl, Menasha; two grandchildren, Cheri and Jonathan Kuehl, Kaukauna; three brothers and sisters in-law, Randall [Delores] Blajeski, Sun City, Arizona; William [Lee] Blajeski, Thomas [Carol] Blajeski, all of Kaukauna; a sister, Blanche Jirikowic, Crivitz; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Krystal Kuehl, in 1991 and a brother in-law, Edward Jirikowic.

    Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Harvey Kandler officiating. Friends may call at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna from 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established for a scholarship for special education children.
