    Age 83, died Sunday, August 10, 1997 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born October 30, 1913 in Madison, the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Haganbuscher Teekemeyer.

    She is survived by two sons and daughters in-law, William and Marilyn West, Farmington Mills, Michigan; Timothy and Jacqueline West, Rockford, Illinois; four daughters and sons in-law, Martha and Paul Byrne, Dublin, Ohio, Susan and Ronald Stevenson, Geneva, Illinois, Julie and William Coffey, Malvern, Pennsylvania; Paula and John Kaplan, Abington, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Emilie Arnold, Madison.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. West 1972, a son, John Edward West, and a brother in-law, Robert Arnold.

    The Mass of Ressurection will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 1997 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Father Jack Mullarkey officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church, Kaukauna from 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of mass.

  • Note: Kaukauna - Janet Antonette Schuh, age 94, Kaukauna, passed away at St. Paul Home Friday, December 29, 2017 after a long struggle with dementia. She was born January 8, 1923 in the town of Buchanan, daughter of the late Adrian and Minnie (DeGroot) Raymaker. Janet married Joseph G. Schuh in Kimberly at Holy Name Catholic Church and lived in Kaukauna from that point on. She was strong-willed, a stay-at-home mom and loved spending time in her flower garden.

    Janet is survived by her son, Greg (Yoko).

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; and all her siblings, Martha Leitermann, Ann Helms, Frances Dambruch, Nellie Foster and Mary Klatt; brothers: Albert, Joseph, Bill, John, Jim and Peter.

    Private Funeral services for Janet will be held at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna.

  • Note: John Van Rooy, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 12, 2007 at a local nursing home. John was born in the Netherlands on December 26, 1911, son of the late Adrian and Hendrieka (Vander Heiden) Van Ven Rooy. On August 2, 1938, John married the former Rosalie Kohl in Appleton; she preceded him in death in 1996. From 1943 until 1973, John operated a dairy farm north of Kaukauna, and even after his retirement was able to live on the farm until just this past fall. John will be remembered as a talented man who could build just about anything out of steel. All he needed was a picture in his mind and a little time in his shop, and the project would be complete! In his younger years he also enjoyed square dancing, served on the Apple Creek School Board, and loved to garden.

    Survivors include four children: Paul (Gloria) Van Rooy of Madison; Marjorie (Bob) Vogels of Wausaukee; Ken (Helen) Van Rooy of Kaukauna; Carl (Jan) Van Rooy of Indianapolis; eleven grandchildren: Michelle (John) Burton, Angela (Jackson) Njau, Renee Bisbee, Jill (Pat) Wilcox, Sue (Harold) Trudeau, Bill (Sarah) Vogels, Gwen (Madan) Kandula, Joe (Tara) Van Rooy, John (Erin) Van Rooy, Adam (Becky) Van Rooy, and Tim Van Rooy; and fourteen great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his special friend Exilda Valentine of Freedom; a sister: Annie Kieffer of Kaukauna; and three sisters-in-law: Minnie Ven Rooy, Vi Van Rooy, and Betty Van Roy. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosalie in 1996, and brothers Lambert, Martin, and Bill.

    The funeral liturgy for John will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and again Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the services. There will be a parish prayer service Monday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

    John was a very kind man whose wisdom will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

    Tom Roberts, age 83 of Kaukauna, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, December 28, 2015. Tom fought a brave battle with cancer for the past twelve years. He was born in Appleton on May 30, 1932, son of the late Bert and Ann (Esler) Roberts. On April 14, 1956, Tom married Morcile Nytes; she preceded him in death on November 16, 1976. Tom later married Tess Duprey Flanagan on October 18, 1980; she survives. Tom retired from the Kaukauna Fire Department where he had been employed for thirty-four years, and where he eventually became the chief.

    Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a sergeant in the 8th Army, 7th Infantry Division, Company I. He was part of the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. He loved his God, his country, and his family. A memorable day for Tom was this past April 9, which he spent on the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. - the trip of a lifetime for him.

    Tom was active in the community in several ways. He was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Association, served as the president of the Kaukauna High School Booster Club for thirty years, was past president of the Kaukauna Lions Club, was a Grand Knight and life member of the Knights of Columbus, life member of the Kaukauna VFW, the Retired Fox Valley Fire Association, and received the prestigious Kaukauna High School Alumni award in 1978. He was also an active volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul store in Kaukauna.

    Tom is survived by his wife: Tess Roberts of Kaukauna; daughters: Ann (Steve) McDaniel of Kaukauna; Robin (Steve) Schmidt of Kaukauna; Patricia (Kevin) Diamond of Chicago; sons: William (Brenda) Roberts of Kaukauna; Thomas John (Tammy) Roberts of Kaukauna; and Kevin (Catrina) Roberts of Shawano; his grandchildren: Ketty, Christopher, Sara, Doug, Bridgette, Brittany, Belinda, Nicolas, David, Cecilia, Grace, Suraya, Sydnie, Ariel, and Morgan; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Tess' children: Mary Katherine (Tom) Bednarowski of River Falls; Maureen (Dr. Richard) Johnson of Appleton; Margaret (Chris) Toepfer of Vancouver, Washington; and Eileen (Jonathan) Doughty of Vienna, Virginia; and his step-grandchildren: Mollie, Erin, Jasmine, Julia, Ross, Harrison, Grant, Eleanor, and Theo. He is also survived by a brother: Jack (Florence) Roberts of Kaukauna a sister: Liz of Appleton; and a sister-in-law: Mary "Charlie" Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Morcile, brothers Richard (Bettye) Roberts and Dan Roberts; and sisters Joyce (Marvin "Dago") Schuler and Mary Jane (George) Reichelt.

    Harold L. Vondracek Dies at 57 After Two Month Illness
    Died: January 5, 1979

    Funeral services for Harold L. Vondracek, 57, brother of Robert E. Vondracek, Mrs. George (Mary) Brautigan and Mrs. George (Helen) Vande Voort all of Kaukauna, will be at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the Kessler Funeral Home Neenah, with the Rev. Lawrence A. Stingle officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery at Kaukauna.

    Mr. Vondracek died Friday evening January 5, at the Veterans Hospital, Madison, following a two month illness. His home was at 321 Gruenwald Avenue, Neenah.

    He was born November 26, 1921 in Maple Grove, Wisconsin, and had lived in Neenah for the past 30 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

    Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Karla) Ross and Mrs. Stephen (Jane) Martzahl, both of Neenah, Mrs. Lance (Sharon) Voelz, and Cindy Vondracek, both of Appleton, and Paula Vondracek of Larsen; three sons: Robert L. of Menasha, Larry of Neenah, and David who is serving with the United States Marine Corps at San Diego Calif.; a brother, Robert E. of Kaukauna; two sisters, Mrs. George (Mary) Brautigan, and Mrs. George (Helen) Vande Voort both of Kaukauna; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis, on December 30, 1976.

    A memorial fund has been established.

    Two More in Auto Injured In Early-Morning Crash After Leaving Beer Bar
    Two of four teen-agers whom police said had just been at a Freedom beer bar, died early today when their car rammed the rear of another auto at State 55 and Outagamie County Trunk UU, a mile south of Freedom.
    Dead are Richard Dercks, 18, 1164 Harrison St., Kaukauna, and Michael VanHandel, also 18, of route 4, Appleton. VanHandel, driver of one car, was killed almost instantly of crushing chest injuries, according to Outagamie County Coroner Bernard H. Kemps. Dercks, his passenger, died about 3 a.m. at Kaukauna Community Hospital from severe hemorrhaging as a result of a severed jugular vein.
    Their deaths raised the county traffic toll to 23, seven more than at this time last year, and hiked the state toll to 895, compared with 909 a year ago.
    Four teen-agers were injured in the crash which occurred just after midnight. Among the injured were two more passengers in the VanHandel car, David VandenHuevek, 19, 208 Sarah St., Kaukauna, who suffered cuts, bumps, and bruises including a severely lacerated hand, and Thomas Jackl, 19, 127 Taylor St., Kaukauna, who suffered a possible broken leg, a dislocated shoulder, and a fractured right thigh, in addition to bumps and bruises. They were taken to Kaukauna Community Hospital by Kaukauna Ambulance.
    County police said that the driver of the second car was Gary R. Ver Voort, 16, route 5, Appleton, who escaped injury. Two of his passengers suffered minor injuries. They were Michael R. Dercks, 16, 1156 Taft St., Little Chute (disant relation to the victim) who suffered a bruised right let; and Bruce Diedrich, 15, route 2, Kaukauna, who had a sore right leg and chipped teeth. They were examined at Kaukauna Hospital then released.
    Authorities said that Ver Voort, who was southbound on State 55, stopped to allow an oncoming car to pass before making a left turn onto UU. It was while he was stopped that his car was rammed in the rear by the southbound VanHandel auto. The Ver Voort car, 1 1958 model, ws shoved more than 120 feet down the highway after the impact.
    Authorities had to pry Van Handel and Richard Dercks from the front seat of VanHandel's 1963 auto. . . .

    Age 18, passed away about 3 a.m. following an automobile accident. Richard was born April 4, 1949 in Appleton and was a senior at Kaukauna High School. Survivors are his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. George Dercks, six brothers, William, in the service in Vietnam, Dennis, James, George Jr., Joseph, Daniel, all at home; two sisters, Barbara and Susan, at home; maternal grandfather, Peter Micke, Kaukauna. Funeral services have tentatively been set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church.
