  • Note: Age 89, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Laverna was born in Appleton on July 5, 1915, daughter of the late William and Ella (Spaude) Krueger. In her early years, the family lived near Dale. After her marriage to Earl Seif in 1941, the couple relocated to Kaukauna, where they had been longtime members of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Laverna enjoyed sewing, baking, and sharing her treats with relatives and friends.



    Survivors include a son: John (Sue) Seif of Green Bay; a daughter: Ann (James) Courtney of Janesville and their children Christopher (Carleen) Courtney, Michael Courtney and his fiancée Danielle Kingslien, Sarah (Jeremiah) Brooks, Marie (Dan) LaVelle, and Ryan Courtney;



    A daughter: Mary (Merl) Sanderfoot of Kaukauna and their children Brian (Marni) Sanderfoot, Brad (Angie) Sanderfoot, B.J. (Beth) Sanderfoot, Brent Sanderfoot, and Briten (Mike) Frost;



    A daughter: Jane (Robert) LaPlante of Kaukauna. Laverna is further survived by her six great-grandchildren: Augustus Courtney; Brant, Margaret, and Marin Sanderfoot; and Addison and Michaela Sanderfoot, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl in 1987, brothers Lester (Mary) Krueger and Marvin (Toni) Krueger, and sisters Dorothy (Clifford) Kottke, Erdine (Harry) Wege, and Mildred (Leslie) Eberhard.



    The funeral liturgy for Laverna will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund has been established.

Shirley married Norbert G. Reischl, Sr. in 1946. They later divorced. In 1970, she married Walter J. Lappen. Shirley took pride as a cook working at area restaurants her entire life. She loved knitting, needle point, and crocheting.

    Shirley is survived by six daughters, Susan (Rick) Stermer, Debra (Rick) Franzke, Dawn (Art) Ruedinger, Pastor Ginna (Pastor Brian) Kubinski, Reane Hooper, and Kim Reischl; eight sons, Steven Reischl, Norbert Reischl Jr., David Reischl, Patrick Reischl, Jeff Reischl, Toby Reischl, John Lappen, and Jaye (Melissa) Lappen; five step-children; over 80 grandchildren; special friend and caretaker, Carol Joy Hanson; as well as many other relatives and friends.

    She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Norbert and Walter; and son Paul Reischl.

    A memorial service for Shirley will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home with Pastor Ginna Kubinski officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Immediately following the service a luncheon will be held at Jubilee Gospel Church, Hwy 96, Readfield. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

  • Note: Catherine M. Janssen (Jager) "Cady or Kit", age 91, passed away April 3, 2017 after a brief illness. She resided at Helen's House in Darboy. Catherine was born 10/29/1925 in Wrightstown to Francis and Delia(Guerts) Jager. Catherine met Joseph E. Janssen and they were married on 8/30/1947. He preceded her in death on 01/05/1971. Us girls pushed mom out of the nest and she met her lifelong companion Richard Verfurth while chaperoning at the VFW dances in Kaukauna. Their first date was 12/1971 for the VFW Christmas Party. In 10/29/1973 Richard asked her to marry him and mom said yes! They never married but had a 43 years together before Richard passed away on 09/01/2016.

    Mom worked in Nursing Homes until she stayed home with the children. After all were grown she worked at Kaukauna Community Hospital until she retired in 10/1990. Mom had many talents. She loved to travel and her and Richard seen many places together. Mom loved to dance and kept up with her children and grandchildren, she taught us a lot. She was a good sewer and was good at knitting. We wore what she made us with pride. She also quilted and knitted blankets for us. She loved to play sheepshead, poker, and cribbage. She enjoyed going to Sunday night Bingo at St. Mary's. Mom belonged to the VFW Axillary in Kaukauna 3319.

    Catherine is survived by two sons and three daughters. John(Kathy) Janssen, Larry Janssen, Darlene White, Sue Ann and Jesus Zuniga, and Ellen Vandenberg. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Michele and Keith Allen, Nikki and John Weaver(Kitania), Medlinda (Tony) Mader (Antonio, Lillian, Noe), Catherine and Kevin Tomson (Addison, Mason), Jackie and Steve Rouse, Joseph and Heather Janssen (Kaitlyn, Ethan), William and Jenny Janssen, David Janssen, Jacob Vandenberg, and Marguarita Zuniga. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Vione and Ken Pomeroy and Arlene Weyenberg.

    Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her companion Richard, her parents Francis and Delia Jager. Her in-laws Slyvester and Doris Janssen, her son James R. Janssen, son-in-law Daniel White. Her brother Merlin and Alice Jager, her sisters Geneiva Jager, Dolores and Donald Burton, Frances and Melvin Heiting, brother in law Jack Weyenberg.

    Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating.
