  • Note: Phyllis (Betters) Craney, age 80, of Kimberly, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born on October 29, 1935 in Kaukauna to the late Clarence and Naureen (Komp) Liethen. Phyllis graduated from Kimberly High School and then attended Fox Valley Technical College. She was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a business office manager for thirty-two years. Phyllis then retired to Crivitz, Wisconsin where she went back to school and earned her certificate to become an E.M.T volunteer. She along with several other volunteers founded the Twin Bridge Rescue Squad. For many years Phyllis selflessly devoted her heart and soul to serving others.

    Phyllis was a loving mother and grandmother who was involved in her community and church. She also loved playing Bridge with the ladies at the town hall and Cribbage with her granddaughter, Kelly. Phyllis was also an active member of St. Mary's in Crivitz where many people benefitted from her caring heart.

    She is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Donna Van Roy-Betters and Rob (Cherri) Betters; her seven grandchildren, Kelly (Terry) Thornton -a granddaughter she raised after the death of her beloved daughter Diane at the age of twenty-four, Nick Van Roy, Daryl Van Roy, Katie (Brandon) Ertl, and Zach, Candice and Josh Fischer; three great-grandchildren, Hanna and Hunter Thornton and Addison Ertl. Phyllis is further survived by her sisters, Joyce (Gene) Fenn, Mary (Dick) Radenmacker and Nancy (Dennis) Kilsdonk; her brothers, Wayne (Cindy) Liethen and Gary (Rosie) Liethen; brother-in-law, Tim Trowbridge and daughter-in-law, Tina Betters. She is also survived by seven Craney children and their families, Paul, Peter, Patrick, Perry, Pam, Philip and Peggy.

    Her first husband, Howard Betters, preceded her in death on December 18, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Betters; two daughters, Diane Depner and Jo Ann Paul; two brothers, Robert and Jim Liethen and two sisters, Shirley Liethen and Judy Trowbridge.

    The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at church. Inurnment will be held at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Phyllis's name. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

  • Note: Age 94, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 at Franciscan Care Center in Appleton. Lena was born in Overloon, Netherlands on November 23, 1908, and immigrated with her family to Butler, Minnesota. In 1926, she married Tony Polman and relocated to Kimberly in search of work. Lena and Tony volunteered at area meal sites, including the YMCA and Randall Court, as well as the meal sites in Menasha. She was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly.

    Survivors include her son: Joe (Thelma) Polman of Kimberly; four grandchildren: Kim (Randy) Kowalke of Menasha; Perri Ann (Bill) Larson of Lakeville, Minnesota and their children Billi Alexandra and Cole; Joseph (Valerie) Polman of Stevens Point and their children Annaleigh, Annika, and Arrington; Anthony (Lori) Polman of Monticello, Minnesota and their children Kate, Ray, and Jack; a brother: Cornelius Sweere of Appleton. Lena is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years Tony, three infant children: Mary Ann, Betty May, and Leonard; brothers: John, George, and Harry Sweere; and sisters: Mary Polman and Ann Polman.

    The funeral liturgy for Lena will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 12:00 Noon at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 10 AM until the hour of the service.

  • Note: Delores Van Drunen, age 93, of Kimberly, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born on July 21, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph and Valeria (Luka) Altenhofen. Delores was married to Vincent Van Drunen and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Delores was an extremely generous, kind person, always wanting to take care of others before herself. Her family was her greatest joy.

    Delores is survived by her daughters: Susan Gelling, Kimberly and Patti (Jeff) Wildenberg, Kimberly; a granddaughter, Ashley (Josh) Zorn, Combined Locks; her two great grandsons that she adored: Owen and Hudson Zorn; a brother, Gordon Altenhofen, Oregon; sisters: Dorothy Williams, Waupaca and Jean Woods, Rhinelander; a brother-in-law, Richard Van Drunen, Kimberly; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; her parents, Joseph and Valeria; a sister, Esther (Richard) Spielbauer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack Williams, Kay Altenhofen, Sal Woods, John (Betty) Van Drunen and Geraldine Van Drunen.

    Per Delores’s wishes, a private family graveside service was held at Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.

    The Van Drunen family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Atrium of Appleton, Ascension Hospice, and to neighbors Clarence and Judy Ver Bockel for all of the compassionate care given to Delores.

    Nanie, you were the best Grandma anyone could ask for. I am going to miss you so much. I love you, Ashley

He was born May 31, 1926 at home in Kimberly, son of the late Adrian and Jennie (Stuyvenberg) Van Drunen. John retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation. He was an US Army Veteran and a member of the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion, Kimberly.

    He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Van Drunen (nee) Hearden, who resides at the St. Paul Home; his son and daughter-in-law, John R. (Kathy), Kaukauna; two grandsons: Matthew (Samantha) and great-granddaughter, Vivian of Hawthorn Woods, IL, and Luke of Chicago, IL; a sister, Geraldine "Geri" Van Drunen; a brother, Richard "Rick" Van Drunen; sister-in-law, Delores Van Drunen; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent.

    A private family service will be held at the St. Paul Elder Services Chapel.

    No flowers please, a memorial fund for the St. Paul Elder Services and hospice has been established in John's name. The family has chosen Boettcher Family Funeral Home to assist them.

    The family would like to especially thank the staff at St. Paul Elder Services, St. Paul Hospice and the volunteers of their programs for their support and love during John's final journey.
