    Gordon H. Seaver, age 84, died unexpectedly, Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 2005. He was born March 12, 1921, to the late George and Elizabeth (Kampo) Seaver, in Appleton and grew up in Kimberly, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, Gordon was employed as an electrician with Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He served with the U. S. Army, during WW II, in the Army Signal Corps. Following his discharge he returned to Kimberly-Clark, where he was employed for a total of 30 years. While at Kimberly-Clark he started his own business, Seaver Electric, retiring in 1982. Gordon was then employed by Warehouse Specialists Inc., as an electrical contractor, for a number of years. He was a very accomplished wood carver, could fix anything, answer questions and solve any problems. Gordon was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was an usher, server and was involved in bible study groups, he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight, a member of Golden K Kiwanis and Catholic Knights, he volunteered at the VA Clinic and the Salvation Army. His Christianity and the love of his family guided his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by his wife, Esther M. (Pankratz) Seaver, to whom he had been married for 62 years; nine children, Carol (David) DeYoung, Greenville; Susan Torfin, Denver, CO; Nona Seaver, Whitefish Bay; Marcia Milhaupt, Menasha; Jeff Seaver, Wyocena, WI; Mike (Val) Seaver, Neenah; Amy Davis, Neenah; Tom (Brenda) Seaver, Clifton Park, NY; Tim Seaver, Menasha; 24 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; a sister in law, Mary Seaver, Kimberly; and a brother-in-law, Jim (Georgiana) Pankratz, Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Seaver, his step-father, Anton DeWildt, two sons-in-law, Paul Davis and Rick Torfin, a brother, Jerome Seaver and his sister, Violet DeLeeuw. The funeral liturgy for Gordon will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 20, 2005, at SACRED HEART CATHOLC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, Appleton, with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am, Monday, until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established

Esther Marie Pankratz

  • Note: Esther Marie Seaver, 86, Appleton, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at her home. Esther was born on July 27, 1923, in Valders, Wis., to the late Frank and Christina (Jirik) Pankratz. She married Gordon Seaver on Dec. 26, 1942. Gordon and Esther enjoyed 63 years of marriage and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2005.




    Esther was well-known as a talented rosemaler and painter. She was a member of her card club for over 50 years, volunteered at the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Elizabeth Hospital, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed traveling with Gordon, was a member of the Appleton Catholic Church funeral choir, made rosaries for missions, was an accomplished seamstress and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 67 years. Above all, her family was Esther's highest priority.

    Survivors include her children, Carol (David) De Young, Greenville; Sue Torfin, Denver, Colo.; Nona Seaver, Whitefish Bay; Marcia Milhaupt, Menasha; Jeff Seaver, Montello; Mike (Val) Seaver, Racine; Amy Davis, Neenah; Tom (Brenda) Seaver, Clifton Park, N.Y.; and Tim Seaver, Menasha; her 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by brothers, Russell, Jerome, Leo and Jim Pankratz; and her sons-in-law, Paul Davis and Rick Torfin.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222. E. Fremont Street, Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton.

    Succumbs at Menasha Yesterday---Taken Ill Last Friday

    Joseph Marx, father of Henry marx, died at Menasha yesterday noon, aged 79 years. Death was presumably due to an attack of grip, he having been sick only since Friday. Mr. Marx was born in Germany and settled in the town of Harrison when a young man. Twenty-four years ago, he moved to Menasha, where he resided to the time of his death.

    He leaves nine children, Matthias, Hortonville; Joseph, Athens; Michael, Sheldon; Nicholas, St. Louis; Anton, Menasha; Mrs. Nicholas Jacobs, Milwaukee; John, Milwaukee; Henry, Appleton; Peter, Las Vegas, N.M.; William, Oshkosh; Mrs. Nellie Chevereau, Menasha.
