    Theodore Van Grinsven was to be examined for Mental Disorder
    Theodore C. Van Grinsven, 41, 615 Lincoln Street, Kaukauna U.S.A., died unexpectIy about 7 PM Tuesday night while in the Outagamie County jail, where he was awaiting transfer to the Winnebago state hospital. An autopsy was conducted at the Brettscheider Funeral home by Dr. Emory Strauser, Neenah pathoIigist. Dr. Strauser said the exact cause of death could not be determined until completion of a microscopic examination. Van Grinsven's lungs were collapsed, he said. A jury was sworn in by Coroner Bernard Kemps & viewed the body at the jail. Sheriff Schiltz said Van Grinsven was brought to the jail about 9: 15 AM by Kaukauna U.S.A. police on the advice of the man's physician. Van Grinsven was examined late Tuesday by two doctors & the court order was issued committing him to the Winnebago hospital for observation of a nervious disorder. The sheriff was on his way to the jail to get Van Grinsven to take him to Winnebago when the man died. Two prisoner trustees had been detailed to keep an eye on Van Grinsven during the day. At supper time, he drank his coffee, but did not eat. At 7 PM, jailor Robert Morse heard a noise & checked Van Grinsven. He found the man lying on the floor. He summoned the county physician immediately & called Undersheriff Clark, who was in the Sheriff's office. Clark said he could feel no pulse when he checked the man. Van Grinsven was pronounced dead by the county physician as soon as he arrived. The District Attorney & Coroner Kemps conferred today & said that an inquest will be held.

    Van Grinsven was born May 10, 1911 at Little Chute. He moved to Kaukauna U.S.A. 15 years ago & has lived there since. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church, Kaukauna U.S.A.. Survivers include the widow, parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Van Grinsven, Little Chute U.S.A., one daughter, Bonnie at home, two sons, Dennis & Victor, at home. Four Brothers, John, Kaukauna U.S.A., Martin & Robert, Little Chute, & Joseph, Appleton; three sisters, Mrs Walter Schaefer, Sturtevant, Mrs Anthony VanderPas, & Mrs Robert Lamers, Little Chute. Friends may call after 8 PM tonight at Fargo's Funeral Home, Kaukauna. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight & Thursday night. The cortege will from at 9 AM Friday morning & funeral service will be conducted at 9.30 at Holy Cross Catholic church, Kaukauna U.S.A.. Burial will be in he parish cemetery.

    Theodore C. Van Grinsven, 41, died in the Ouagamie County jail on 13 May 1952 of natural causes, a coroner's jury ruled today. A Neenah pathologist who the autopsy & was 1 of 6 witnesses said he believed the primary cause of death was pneumonia which resulted in a a collapsed lung. He testified the liver was enlarged & of improper color, with four-fifth of liver cells destroyed. That condition could have been caused by the pneumonia, he said. Other witnesses who testified were the sheriff's deputy, jailer on duty, 2 prisoners who had been assigned to watch Van Grinsven, & Dr. E.F. Mielke who was one of the two doctors who gave the man an examinaHon to determine his sanity a short time before his death. Van Grinsven died while awaiting transportation to Winnebago State hospital.

  • Death: He died on December 5, 2016, at age 73.
  • Note: Victor Van Grinsven, age 73, of Kaukauna, passed away after a brief journey with cancer the morning of December 5th, 2016, at his home surrounded by family. He was born January 19, 1943 to the late Theodore and Josephine (Meulemans) Van Grinsven.

    Victor was an auto body technician, self-employed for many years, finishing his career into retirement with his brother, Dennis, at DJ's Auto Body in Brothertown.

    Victor especially enjoyed watching Nascar, and was an avid Packer fan, never missing a game! Vic also had a love for fishing and always enjoyed his senior bowling leagues! Another joy of his was watching his grandchildren play sports and cheering them on at their events.

    He is survived by his beloved and caring wife, Pat; a son Troy; daughters: Debbie (Eric) Schley and Robin (Eric) Duchow; grandchildren: Clint Schley, Samantha (Benny) Boesch, Nathaniel Duchow, Britta Duchow (special friend Ryan), and Emily Duchow; and unborn great granddaughter. Also, survived by his Golden Retriever companion, Hunter; brother: Dennis (Ann) Van Grinsven; sister: Bonnie (Bill) Schussman; brothers-in-law: Earl Wallace, William (Jean) Wallace; sisters-in-law: Grace (Melvin) Hietpas, Donna Eake, Mary Wallace, and Rose (Gene) Verhagen; and many special nieces and nephews.

    Vic was preceded in death by his parents: Theodore & Josephine Van Grinsven, step father Raymond Akeman; Pat's Parents: James & Stella Wallace, brothers-in-law: Kenny Wallace, Roland (Oscar) Wallace, Dennis Eake, and sister-In-Law: Carla Wallace

    A funeral service for Vic will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating.     Age 49, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short illness. She was born July 26, 1951, daughter of Norman and Roberta [Phillips} Lind. She married Steve Siebers April 10, 1991, in Little Chute. She was employed by the Jack Voight Insurance Agency. Jenny was a beautiful generous person who always thought of others before herself. She showed this by endless caring, whether it was making meals for others, arranging gifts, just becuse, or by giving you the hug you needed just at the right moment. Her loving spirit was contagious and you could not help but be happy when she was near. She won't be forgotten and she will be greatly and dearly missed. Mom we love you to the moon and back, love Kate and Greg.

    Jennifer is survived by her husband Steven, a daughter Kate, and a son, Gregory, both at home; three brothers and sisters in-law, Chris [Cindy] Lind, Town of Menasha; Matt [Liz] Lind, Hartford; Pete [Cindy] Lind, Neenah; three sisters and one brother in-law, Orel McNamara, Odessa, Florida; Julie Lind, Little Chute; Patricia [Wally] Randolph, Suamico; her mother in-law, and father in-law, Don and Pat Siebers, Little Chute; three brothers in-law, Ron and Marcie Siebers, Neenah; Mark [Becky] Siebers, Sherwood; Jim [Joan] Siebers, Oregon; four sisters in-law, Sue [Jeff] Van Hout, Neenah; Judy [Mark] Bell, Denver, Colorada; Donna [Tim] Dercks, Combined Locks; Debbie Siebers, Los Angeles; nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Nelson Lind, and a brother in-law, Paul McNamara.

    Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, March 10, 2001 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 9-11:30 am Saturday.
