Marge was born in Chicago, IL, but grew up on a farm in the Appleton area. She graduated from Kimberly High School and received a Masters Degree in Planning at the University of Wisconsin. In 1972 she married Alan Patera, and while she was working for a health systems agency in Maryland they started a family, having a son, Robert, and a daughter, Elizabeth. With her family she moved to Oregon in 1985 and she began working for Kaiser Permanents as a health facility planner.

Marge was highly respected at work because of her sound judgment and her ability to speak truth to power. To know her was to admire her. She enjoyed travel with her husband to places like Spain and Morocco, Turkey and the Czech Republic. She was a voracious reader and an accomplished knitter.

In addition to her husband and children, Marge is survived by her mother, Margaret "Barb" Weyers of Little Chute, brothers Jim (Kathy) Weyers, Jerry (Peggy) Weyers, Russ (Debbie) Weyers and Paul (Lori) Weyers, and sister Jeanne Bellin, all in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Weyers, sister Mary and brother-in-law Augie Bellin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Marge died at home with her family at her bedside. A memorial service will be held in Oregon on her birthday, March 4th and in Wisconsin on Friday, February 10th at 11 am at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington Street, Combined Locks. A light lunch and casual fellowship will follow the service. Bring your knitting and your nickels! Visitation will begin at 10 am. Those wishing to honor her memory can make donations to one of two non-profit organizations that Marge supported: The Oregon Food Bank or the Nature Conservancy.
