When Claude came home from the South Pacific after four years in the Army he thought working in a paper mill would be too dull for him. So he went to Cleveland, Ohio and became a Merchant Seaman on an ore boat. He worked as a Wheelsman on the Great Lakes for 30 years hauling iron ore, coal, and grain….And now my last lament.

My sailing days are over I've made my last dock. I am heading for the blue horizon where the steamboats meet the sky. I'm gonna sail..sail..sail.. out where it all begun…now an old seamans work is done.
