  • Note: Harold William Witthuhn, age 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Brewster Village with his son at his side.

    Harold was born July 31, 1921 in the town of Bovina, Outagamie County, Wisconsin son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Seibel) Witthuhn. He was united in marriage on November 18, 1947 to Delores A. Van Dinter at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Harold was employed with the Kimberly paper mill for over 25 years as a machine operator and was a member of their quarter century club. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Appleton and was a Cub Scout Leader for Pack # 95 of St. Thomas More. Harold enjoyed traveling with his wife, going on fishing trips and working out at the gym. He also was an avid model train enthusiast.

    Harold is lovingly survived by his children, Jean (Jerry) Smith, Augusta, GA; William (Kim) Witthuhn, Anchorage, AK; Robert Witthuhn, David Witthuhn and his fiancée Julie Champeau, both of Appleton; and Dennis Witthuhn, Green Bay. He had nine grandchildren, Jeff Witthuhn, Jason (Sarah) Witthuhn, Nancy (Jamie) Morris, Michael Smith, Jeremy (Bryanna) Smith, David, Janie and Adam Witthuhn and Sarah Farnum, and four great-grandchildren.

    Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Delores in 2004; a daughter, Donna Farnum in 2010; his parents, siblings and a friend, Christina Ahonen.

    The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11 am Monday, April 2, 2012 at ST. THOMAS MORE 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Harold's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 9 am until the hour of the service. Donna attended Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc for four years, Silver Lake Covenant for a year, then as a clerk for the power company, Sears in Chicago and Appleton, Zaugs Foods, a gas company and in the construction industry.

    She is survived by her father, daughter Sara Jean Farnum, grandchildren: Briana and Elijah; and brothers: Dave (Julie), Bill (Kimberly), Bob, Dennis and sister Jean Ann (Jerry) Smith.

    Donna will be greeted in Heaven by her mother.

    Funeral services for Donna will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, 2010, with visitation beginning 9:30 a.m. to service time at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Steve Dressen officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

    After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High school in 1943 she continued her education at Miss Brown's Business School in Milwaukee, WI. Marion began her secretarial career in Sturgeon Bay. After starting a family, she continued her career at 1st National Bank of Appleton and Conkey's Book Store in Appleton.

    Faith, family and reading were important to Marion. She enjoyed holiday family gatherings and volunteering at St. Joseph's Food Pantry. Marion looked forward to traveling. She visited Rome twice, and enjoyed cruises to both Alaska and The Panama Canal. She also ventured off to visit family on various road trips. She enjoyed the game of Bridge playing in the same club for 66 years.

    She will be greatly missed by her children: James (Nancy) Van Dinter of Boise, ID, Tim (Rose) Van Dinter of Kingwood, TX, Nick (Kathy) Van Dinter of Menasha, Jane Van Dinter of Neenah, and Mark (Paula) Van Dinter of Temecula, CA. 14 grandchildren: Nicole (Chad) Bjorklund, Camile (Mike) King; Laura (Kevin) Filippone, Jason (Jenn) Van Dinter; Jeremy (Jenny) Van Dinter, Danielle (Chris) Burden; Erica Dietzler, Courtney Dietzler, Justin Nett, Brandi Van Dinter, Colton Van Dinter; Hannah (Tommy) Shinners, Boone (Rebecca) Gorges, and Clint Gorges; 11 great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Aiden, Soren, Diego, Mila, Joseph, Isabel, Payton, Arianna, Royce, and Isla.

    Preceded in death by her husband Arnold C. Van Dinter; her three brothers: Alvin (Frances) Carmody, Carrol (Opal) Carmody, Rueben (Lorraine) Carmody and one sister Marguerite (Thomas) Smith.

    Mass of Christian Burial for Marion will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 6:00 PM at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH (1617 W. Pine St., Appleton). Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until the time of Mass. Online condolences may be expresses at www.wichmannfargo.com.
