    Skell, Margaret "Peg" Margaret Skell, age 64, Pickerel, WI, died peacefully at her home, Monday, October 17, 2005, surrounded by her family after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. Peg was born April 13, 1941, in Kaukauna, WI, to Mary (Kraimer) and William Mischler. Peg attended St. Mary Grade School in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1958. On August 8, 1959, Peg married Maurey Skell at St. Mary's in Kaukauna. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage. Maurey preceded her in death on September 2, 2004.

    Peg was a member of St. Mary's in Pickerel. Peg was a secretary at Kimberly-Clark in Neenah from 1965 until retiring in 1997. She and her husband also started a family craft business in 1972 which she continued to enjoy until her illness. She raised her family in Combined Locks and enjoyed many years of spending time with their family at Pickerel Lake. She and her husband moved to Pickerel in 2003.

    Peg enjoyed working in her beautiful gardens, crafting and painting. She treasured spending time at her home on Pickerel Lake, where she enjoyed fishing and spending time with her kitten, Cuddles, who remained by her side until the end. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Florida in winter and Peg carried on their love of travel having spent this past winter in Florida.

    Peg is survived by two daughters: Jackie (Bill) Learman, Darboy, WI; and Debbie (Tom) Kerrigan, Neenah, WI; a son, John (Cathy) Skell, Shiocton, WI; a sister, Bernice Betters, Kaukauna, WI; a brother, Donald Mischler (friend, Carol), grandchildren: Craig Learman (special friend, Alicia), Gina Learman (special friend, Jason), Karri (Jeremy) Bedor, Kristin (Nick) Steede, Stephanie Price (special friend, Tommy), Tara Kerrigan (fiance, Roger), Jenny Kerrigan, and Tommy Kerrigan, four great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law: Dan (Connie) Skell, Hartford; and Tom Skell, Kimberly; sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Ken) Grissman, Freedom, WI.

    Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Maurey, brothers: Wilfred Mischler, Norbert Mischler, and Richard Mischler.

    The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2005, at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pickerel. Father Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Pickerel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pickerel on Saturday, October 22, 2005.

    A special thank you to LeRoyer Hospice and Dr. Myers, Donna and Peannie for watering flowers for us, Tom and Cindy for their care, concern and visits, Clara and Chuck Haile for their many treats which we hope continue, Jerry and Flo for helping when help was needed. Thank you to all who helped in Peg's transportation and care, especially Lynn and Terri. Also special thank you to Peg's Florida friends: Don and Barb Webster, Wally and June, and Pat and Don Bodwell. Our most heartfelt appreciation to Bernice for her constant love and care.

  • Birth: Thomas Martin (Chuckie) Skell was born on July 2, 1949 in Appleton, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: He died on November 16, 2005, at age 56.
  • Note: Following a seven-year battle with cancer, Tom Skell passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the age of 56. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Appleton on July 2, 1949, son of the late Martin and Esther Skell. From the age of eighteen, he had been employed by the Kimberly Mill, and retired only four years ago. Tom enjoyed flying model airplanes, hunting and fishing at his cabin near Florence, and the companionship of his dog, Ice. Many will remember how proud he was to be seen around town in his yellow convertible – a car he had waited years to own. His three grandsons held a special place in Tom’s heart, and they will miss him very much.

    Tom is survived by his daughter: Amy (Tim) VanderHyden of Combined Locks; three grandsons: Nick, Travis, and Zach; a brother: Dan (Connie) Skell of Hartford; a sister: Mary Jane (Ken) Grissman of Freedom; as well as by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother: Maurey (Peg) Skell.

    The funeral liturgy for Tom will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2005 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY CAMPUS, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, with Fr. David Funk, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.

    The family would like to extend their thanks to family friends Scott and Judy for caring for Ice, as well as to the entire staff at the Appleton Medical Center ICU: you are all such very special people; we saw that in the way that you cared for dad during his stay.     Age 96, passed away with his family at his side at St. Paul Elder Services on Friday, September 3, 2004. He was born in Kaukauna on October 22, 1907, son of the late Peter and Amelia (Schmitzler) Wegand. On August 29, 1933 he married Clara Barbieur at St. Francis, Hollandtown. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage. For most of his life, Al worked at Haas Hardware Store in Kaukauna. Al loved the outdoors and being in the woods. He spent much time fishing, deer hunting and duck hunting. He especially liked deer hunting with his nephews and sturgeon spearing with his grandsons. One of his hobbies was carving duck decoys. Much time was spent at his mobile home near Langlade with his wife Clara.

    Al is survived by his wife Clara, daughters: Ruth (George) Zwick of Combined Locks and Jane (Michael) Brand of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren: Paul (Lynn) Zwick of Kaukauna, Daniel (Denise) Zwick of Wrightstown, and Whitney and Mallory Brand of Minneapolis, MN; great grandchildren: Cody and Morgan Zwick, and Derek and Dylan Zwick; sister Genevieve (Jack) Barbieur of Salem, OR; and is further survived by nieces and nephews.

    Al is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: James and Robert Wegand; and sisters: Viola (Cornelius) Niessing, Ethel (Glenn) Ruggles and Helen (Quintin) Drissen.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 119 West Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Robert Udulutsch O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

    Wegand (Barbieur), Clara B. Clara B. (Barbieur) Wegand, 93, Kaukauna, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on October 21, 2006. She was born in Hollandtown on October 31, 1912, daughter of the late Theodore and Petranella (Verheyen) Barbieur. On August 29, 1933, she married her husband of 73 years, Aloysius Wegand. Clara was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna and served with the Christian Mothers. Playing sheepshead at St. Paul Villa with her friends was one of her favorite activities.

    Clara is survived by her daughters, Ruth (George) Zwick, Combined Locks; and Jane (Michael) Brand, Minneapolis; grandchildren, Paul (Lynn) Zwick, Daniel (Denise) Zwick, and Whitney and Mallory Brand; great-grandsons, Cody, Dylan and Derek Zwick; great-granddaughter, Morgan Zwick; and a sister-in-law, Genevieve Barbieur, Salem, OR. Clara is further survived by nieces and nephews.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius; brothers, Leonard, Pete, Henry, Tony, Theodore, Albert and John Barbieur; sisters, Lena "Helen" (Herman) Schutten and Mary (Hank) Sausen.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

  • Note: George J. Zwick, Combined Locks, age 81, passed away at home with his family at his side on Wednesday May 27, 2015, after battling cancer. He was born on February 22, 1934, in Kaukauna to the late George and Harriet (Berkers) Zwick. George graduated from Kaukauna High School. He married Ruth Wegand on August 31, 1959, at St. Mary's Parish in Kaukauna. George retired from Thilmany Pulp and Paper after more than 40 years of service.

    George coached the Kaukauna Boxing Club for many years. He greatly enjoyed working with the boys he trained, and kept in touch with many of them. George was named Coach of the Year in 1976 and 1977.

    He was an active member of Dave's Musky Club and the Plum Creek Chapter of Ducks Unlimited for many years. George enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at his cottage on Lac Vieux Desert where he enjoyed many campfires with good friends and family.

    George was a proud grandpa and loved to watch his grandchildren play sports - Cody's football, Dylan's football and basketball, Derek's baseball and basketball and Morgan's volleyball and basketball. George also enjoyed seeing all of their hunting and fishing trophies.

    George is survived by his loving wife of 55 years. Two sons and their families; Paul and Lynn (Sprangers) of Kaukauna and their children: Cody (fiancée Lindsey Bunkleman) and Morgan Zwick; and Dan and Denise (Van Handel) of Wrightstown and their sons: Dylan and Derek Zwick. George is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Marv and Grace Zwick and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Jane (Wegand) and Mike Brand. He is further survived by special nieces: Whitney (Dustin) Miller, Mallory Brand and Lois Zwick-Perez and nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by Ruth's parents, Al (Sonny) and Clara Wegand, his brother, Robert Zwick, and his niece Sheila Zwick.

    George's family would like to thank Dr. Danz and Jodie, all the doctors that treated him in the last couple of years, and the girls at Kaukauna Fresenius Dialysis Center.     The Zwick's would also like to thank their family and friends for the love, kindness and support they have shown during this difficult time.
