    Grimmer, William F. William F. Grimmer, Pickerel, Wis., formerly of Kaukauna, 72, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, after a short illness. He was born April 4, 1935, son of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Revoir) Grimmer. William moved to Pickerel, Wis., (which he called Paradise) in 1997. He served in the U.S. Marines and retired from Valmet after 25 years of service as a machinest.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marlene (Ellis) Grimmer, Pickerel; his five children, Debra Miller (Steve Douglas), Kaukuana; Diane Schultz, Fayetteville, N.C.; Dan (Ellen) Eisenschink, Kaukauna; Dave (Deedi) Eisenschink, Kaukauna; Cheryl (Ron) Pennenberg, DePere; his special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Nancy (Ron) Verkuilen and Bonnie Vanevenhoven; several nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his very special dogs, Sam, Gidget and Molly.

    William was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; his granddaughter, Jessica Miller and a brother-in-law, Jerry Vanevenhoven.

    A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukuana with Pastor Melinda Feller officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

    Coonen, Gene M. Gene M. Coonen, Town of Woodville, age 54, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 1, 2006. He was born in Appleton on July 21, 1952, to the late Benedict and Rosella (Schumacher) Coonen. Gene was a 1972, graduate of Appleton East High School. After earning a certificate in welding from Fox Valley Technical College, Gene worked as a certified welder for Pierce Manufacturing in the Town of Menasha. After his tenure at Pierce, he worked out of his home repairing small engines. In addition to working, Gene enjoyed gardening, cutting wood, and spoiling his niece, nephew, and great nephew. Gene spent much of his time socializing at the Railroad Inn Cafe in Forest Junction.

    He will be sadly missed by his sister, Diane (Roger) Riehl, Appleton; nephew, Kevin Riehl, Appleton; niece, Laurie (David) Nytes, Kaukauna; and a great-nephew, Ben Elliot Nytes.

    He was preceded in death by his parents: Ben and Rosella.

    Funeral mass for Gene will be celebrated on Monday, November 6, 2006, at 11 A.M. with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of the mass. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

    Marvin Rettler

    Age 61, formerly of Appleton, died Saturday, September 28, 1996 at San Luis Obispo nursing center. A memorial service was held in California. Burial was at sea off the coast of oceano.

    Mr. Rettler was born in Appleton on February 6, 1935. He moved to California in 1953 and to south San Luis Obispo County in 1972. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed both lake and ocean fishing. Mr. Rettler also enjoyed camping with his family. He worked as a carpet installer for many years in the South County.

    Mr. Rettler is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Rettler, Arroyo Grande, three sons: Rick (Rene) Rettler, Oceano, Rusty Rettler, Arroyo Grande; Richie Rettler, Arroyo Grande; a sister, Rita Peters, Wisconsin, two brothers: Danny (Maya) Rettler, Wisconsin, Norman (Carol) Rettler, Wisconsin, two grandchildren: Candace Rettler and Randy Rettler Jr., Oceano.

    He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Rettler in 1989, his mother, Mary Rettler in 1996 and his father, Melvin Rettler.

  • Note: Carol E. (Pommerenke) Beschta, Appleton, age 77, passed away at Cherry Meadows on Thursday, July 14, 2011. She was born in Appleton on March 5, 1934 the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Brandt) Pommerenke. On June 11, 1955 she married her husband of 56 years, J.J. "Skip" Beschta. Carol enjoyed word searches and crafts such as cross-stitching and floral arranging. She will be remembered for her hand made Christmas ornaments and candy, being a wonderful home maker, taking very good care of her family, and being a "Great Mom."

    Carol is survived by her husband, Skip; children: Judy (Mike) Grishaber of Appleton, Luann (Brian) Byatt of Appleton, and Gene (Bonnie) Beschta of Appleton; grandchildren: Lance (Jesse Brinkmann) Grishaber, Lucas (Kelly Webb) Grishaber and John Beschta; sister, Alice (Mory) Locklin; brothers-in-law: Al "Red" McHugh, David Banks and Edward Busch. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Amy McHugh, Judith Banks, and Mary Busch; and brother, Walter Pommerenke, Jr.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, with Fr. Jim Leary OFM.CAP. officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

    The family extends a special thank you to nurse practitioner Patti Martins, Dr. Kevin Mortara and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology for their excellent care. Further, a special thank you to Melissa, Ellen, Jim, Twila, Karla and the entire staff at Cherry Meadows for their personal and compassionate care.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Carol's name for Cherry Meadows Hospice.
