    Fermanich, Alice M.


    Alice M. Fermanich, age 90, Appleton, formerly of New London, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010, at her residence. Alice was born on February 15, 1919, in Issaar, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Eisch) Landwehr. On July 10, 1980, she was united in marriage to Donald Fermanich. He preceded her in death in 2004. She formerly worked at Tuttle Press in Appleton. Her enjoyment in life was her family and crocheting. In her retirement years, Alice enjoyed crocheting hats and making rosaries for the missions.

    Alice is survived by three daughters: Joan (Dennis) Booms, Wausaukee; Judy (Ronald) Peters, Nichols; Diane (Tom) Mehlberg, Gresham; two sons: Ken (Doris) Wolff, Appleton; Bob Wolff, Little Chute; a brother, John (Marilyn) Landwehr, Appleton; a sister, Myrtle (Gene) Prisco, New York; sisters-in-law: Hildegarde and Betty Fermanich, New London, and Marge Weidner, Green Bay. She is further survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Wolff, two brothers: Joseph and Thomas Landwehr, six sisters: Josephine Palmer, Lucille Lotter, Lorraine Rhode, Margaret Hackl, Susie Williams and Bea Stark.

    Funeral Mass for Alice will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 6, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery, New London. A memorial fund has been established for the Catholic Youth Expedition.

    Doris was born April 10, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the youngest of five children born to William Sr and Margaret (Bauer) McCormick. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1942 and on May 2, 1942 she married William (Bill) Strick.

    She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Robbie and Richard Berg of Pittsville where she was living at the time of her death. She is survived by her in-laws: Loretta Kinder, Marie Thiel, Earl (Nip) and Lois Strick, Paul (Beeler) and Arsela Strick, Robert (Bob) Strick and Eleanor McCormick.

    She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend of Robbie's, Karen (Wenzel) Dahl, who she considered to be her second daughter.

    Doris was predeceased by her husband Bill on February 23, 2006; her parents William Sr and Margaret McCormick. Her brothers and sisters-in-law: Louis and Helen McCormick, William Jr and Myrtle McCormick, Clark McCormick. Her sister and brother-in-law Mary Margaret (Mae) and George (Sonny) Weyenberg. Her husband's family: Paul Kinder, Roger Thiel, Lotte Strick and Patty Strick.

    There will be a memorial held on January 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., at Appleton Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Appleton, Wisconsin. The address is 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton WI 54911.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Thorne and Karen of the Marshfield Clinic, the doctors and nurses of 8 North and the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph Hospital for the care and concern offered to our family and my mother during this journey.

    My mom was a very special lady. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family. She was my mom, my best friend, my confidant and my shopping buddy in her younger years. She loved daisies, unicorns, looking at clouds, reading her books, praying her rosary and just spending time with us. She will be missed terribly, more than words can say. Love you mom, very much.

    Strick, William M. "Bill" William "Bill" M. Strick, age 82, Marshfield, WI, died February 23, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI. Bill was born April 28, 1923, in Little Chute, WI. He was the first born son of Arnold and Blanche (Pennings) Strick. On May 2, 1942, Bill married Doris McCormick in Kaukauna, WI. She survives. Bill graduated from St. John's High School in Little Chute, WI; class of 1941. He was a member of the Jacob Coppus Post 258 of the American Legion of Little Chute for over 60 years making him the oldest member of the post. Bill was in the 113th Naval Construction Battalion during World War II. Bill loved to fish and go deer hunting with his son-in-law. He played a wicked game of sheepshead and cribbage. Bill is survived by his wife, Doris (McCormick) Strick, daughter and son-in-law, Robbie and Richard Berg, Pittsville; sisters: Loretta Kinder, Kaukauna, WI; Marie Thiel, Kimberly, WI; brothers: Earl (Nip) and Lois Strick, Kimberly, WI; Paul (Beeler) and Arsela Strick, Little Chute, WI; Robert (Bob) and Patti Strick, Menasha, WI; a step-grandson, Christopher C. Berg, Marshfield, WI; also Robbie's best friend, Karen (Wenzel) Dahl, Duluth, MN; who was like a second daughter to Bill and Doris. Also surviving Bill are numerous nieces and nephews and his buddy, Bandit. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Paul Kinder and Roger Thiel, sister-in-law, Lotte Strick, wife's family: parents, William Sr. and Margaret McCormick, Louis McCormick, William Jr. and Myrtle McCormick, Clark McCormick, George (Sonny) and Mary Margaret (Mae) Weyenberg and pets, Freddie and Buttons. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation Society of WI, Eau Claire, is handling the funeral arrangements. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial, Appleton, WI. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Van Oudenhoven and Linda of the Marshfield Clinic for the special care over the years. Also, Dr.'s Duffy and Dart, the Nephrology Staff of Marshfield Clinic and the nurses of St. Joseph Hospital for the care and concern over the past week.
