    Kroner, Carol Ann
    Carol Kroner, 61, Kimberly, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on Dec. 6, 1946, in Appleton, to Leo and Rose (Vandehey) Kroner. Carol enjoyed the family gatherings and loved the time with her nieces and nephews.
    She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Dennis (Jill) Kroner, Kimberly; Robert Kroner, Kimberly; Bill (Patti) Kroner, Kimberly; Mary Conner, Kimberly; Barb (Joe) Abendroth, Menasha; and Lynn (Jeff) Schuh, Mackville. Carol is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Joyce (Schimmers) Kroner.
    The funeral liturgy for Carol will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of mass.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
    Carol's family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Chaplain Roy and Mrs. Emmers for aiding Carol during her last moments.

    Little Chute — Funeral services for Vincent Kroner, 18, who died Saturday evening after a short illness were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. John church. The Rev. John J. Sprangers was in charge of the services. Members of the Junior Holy Name society attended the funeral in a body. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Members of the Little Chute high school basketball team, of which the decedent was a member, were the bearers. They are: Joseph Vander Velden, Jack Lamers, Joseph Wynboom, Jerome Schommer, Sylvester Langedyke and Florian Weyenberg. The decedent is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kroner, brother Leo and three sisters, Lucille, Eleanor and Hildegarde all of this village.

Dennis was born on August 20, 1939, in Combined Locks, Wis., and received a BS in Engineering and Industrial Management from GMI Engineering and Management Institute in Flint, Michigan. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Oldsmobile, Marathon Paper and designed parts for the NASA Gemini Program as well as serving as a technical representative for the US Army Aviation Systems command in Southeast Asia for Aeroquip. Dennis contributed numerous patents during his professional career. Following this, he moved into project management and manufacturing consulting, first serving as a member of a think tank for the Olin Corporation creating innovative technology solutions. The Continuous Performance Management System he invented was used to assist the Rayovac Corporation, the Kohler Corporation, Columbia Parcar Corporation, and Case New Holland. He started his own consulting firm, Verstegen+Associates, in June 1976.

    Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Janice Elaine Lyman Verstegen; his daughter, Britt Elizabeth Verstegen; his son, Ian Ferguson Verstegen; his step-son, Douglas Edward Pottinger; step-son Andrew James Pottinger; step-daughter Sherrill Lee Pottinger Arnold; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial is planned in June.

    Strover, Judith A. "Judi" (Verstegen) Strover, Combined Locks, age 64, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Sunday, September 13, 2009. She was born on September 10, 1945, the daughter of the late John and Irene (Pietenburg) Verstegen. On September 7, 1991, she married Thomas Strover in Combined Locks. Judi was an administrative assistant for many years at Bel-Kaukauna U.S.A. She was a faithful sister of the Appleton-South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

    Judi is survived by her husband, Tom; children: Scott (Nancy) Hoelzel and their children: Emma and Alex, all of Bay St. Louis, MS; Heather (Christopher) Ristow and child, Gabriel, all of Oshkosh; Erika (Michael) Pond of Appleton; brother, Dennis (Jan) Verstegen of Madison; and sister: Diane (Marty) Wynboom of Combined Locks.

    The memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2909 N. Roemer Road., Appleton, with James Pleschek, Jr. officiating. Friends will be received at the Kingdom Hall from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

    The family extends a special thank you to those who provided care and loving support during her battle with cancer.

  • Note: Richard E. Subert, 73, passed away from a struggle with lung cancer on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich. He was born on April 8, 1937, in Appleton, son of Edward and Frances (Vanden Wyngaard) Subert. On Jan. 30, 1960, he was united in marriage to Janice Ann Kuse at St. Mary's Church in Appleton. Richard served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He was a shift supervisor at P.H. Glatfelter in Neenah, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger days, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling with his grandson up north, sitting by his campfire with family and having a few beers and he loved to golf and once scored a hole in one.

    Richard is survived by his wife, Janice Subert, Silvercliff, Wis.; son, James (Wanda) Subert, Chillicothe, Ohio; daughter, Jacqueline (Roger) Vick, Appleton; mother, Frances Subert, Menasha; grandchildren, Chris and Katie Subert, Chillicothe, Ohio and Ryan Vick, Appleton; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Damsheuser, Florence (Don) Kostka, Rosemary (William) Kohl and Eunice Van; and by many nieces, nephews other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Peter Subert; his father, Edward Subert; brothers, Marvin and Joseph Subert; father- and mother-in-law, John (Rosemary) Kuse; and brothers-in-law, Eugene and Leroy Kuse and Orrin Damsheuser.

    A memorial service for Richard will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton, with Deacon Don Wetzel officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. Military honors will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday after the memorial service. A memorial fund is being established in his name.

    The family would like to say a special thank you to staff of the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI, especially the nursing staff of 4E and also to the nurses and staff of the VA Hospital in Milwaukee.

    Richard, we had 51 good years together.
