  • Note: Lorraine Vande Walle, age 91, of De Pere, died Friday, July 11, at home. Born June 22, 1923, she was the daughter of Louis A. and Emily (Kellnhausen) Vande Walle.

    Lorraine graduated from East De Pere High School as valedictorian of the class of 1941. She then joined the School Sisters of Notre Dame and graduated from Mount Mary College and the University of Detroit. She taught at Notre Dame High Schools in Chicago, Detroit and Milwaukee. After leaving the order, she was a court and conference instructor at Gateway Technical College, Kenosha, Wisconsin for 25 years.

    Lorraine was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish and the Ladies Guild, the Brown County Community Women's Club, the Catholic Women's Club of Green Bay, the Veritas Society and the Legacy Society.

    She enjoyed travel, bridge and volunteering.

    Survivors include a brother, Kenneth (Pat) Vande Walle of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Dorothy Anne (William) Mahlock of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Beverly Vande Walle; brother-in-law, James (Joan) Armbruster, and 22 nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, two sisters, Mary Jane Armbruster and Marjorie Ciconia; brother, Carl Vande Walle and 2 brothers-in-law: Andy Ciconia and Eugene Hoell.

    Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Wednesday, July 16, from 9:30-10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Burial in the family plot at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, 336-8702, is in charge of arrangements.

  • Note: Anthony F. "Andy" Cicoria, 69, died at his home in Ft Lauderdale FL. unexpectedly Thursday. Andy was born in Boston, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High Class of 1951 where he was an outstanding athlete. He served in the Koren War and after his discharge attended Boston University and graduated with a degree in education. He was the leading scorer his junior year for the BU Terriers Hockey Team and was chosen for the Eastern Athletic Conference All-American Hockey Team. While playing hockey for the Green Bay Bobcats, a semi-pro team in Wisconsin, he met his wife Marjorie and they were married in 1960. They lived in Lynnfield and Andy was a teacher in the Melrose School System. He became well known as tennis pro and bussinessman. He owned and operated the Melrose Skate & Ski Shop prior to opening the Rte.1 Tennis Barn in Saugus in1974. Andy was the Tennis Pro at numerous clubs including the Colonial in Wakefield, The Ipswich Country Club, and the Manchester Bath & Tennis Club. He played in USTA tournaments and was ranked 11th in New England. he was the husband of the late Marjorie M. ( VandeWalle ) Cicoria. Father of Gerard Cicoria of Topsfield, Lisa Bain of Middleton, Maria D'Orlando of Yarmouth Port, Kristina Cicoria, M.D., of Danvers, Mark Cicoria of Essex and Tracy Cicoria of Ipswich. Brother of Florence C. Corso of Gloucester, Louise Tallent of AZ., Steven J. Cicoria of Groton CT. and the late Caroline Simpson & Louis Cicoria. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, Long-time Companion Marcia Dailley and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday April 17 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle 7 Herbert Sts at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hpours Tuesday 4 - 8 PM. Burial will be in Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.   • Note: Otto Wiegert, 50, town of Woodville, died at a Madison hospital at 7:30 last evening, after a year's illness. He was born in Brillion July 30, 1889, and lived in Forest Junction before moving to the town of Woodville in 1924. Surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Francis Vandehey, Kaukauna; four sons, Everette, Appleton; Melvin, route 1, Greenleaf; Earl, Kaukauna; Ray. Woodville; two brothers, Adolph, Antigo; William, Forest Junction; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Hedtke, Oshkosh: Mrs. J. Wolf, Oshkosh; Mrs. Alvin Buboltz, Antigo, and three grandchildren.   • Note: Mrs. Otto Wiegert, native of town of Woodville and resident of this community somewhat over eight years ago when the family occupied the present E. A Rusch farm, died of pneumonia Thursday morning last week, at the age of 46 years. Death occurred at the farm home in north Woodville. The funeral and burial place at the Lutheran church near Dundas Sunday afternoon.

    Among the survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Krueger of town of Woodville; her husband; four sons, Everett, Melvin, Raymond and Earl, and one daughter, Esther.

    Joan V. Remmel (nee VanDeHey), 66, of Sheffield Lake, OH, passed away at home Saturday, April 19, 2008, following a second battle with cancer. She was active at her parish, St. Teresa Avila Catholic Church, Sheffield, OH., and served as a volunteer for various organizations including St. Vincent DePaul, Hospice, Friends of the Library, and others. She was also an avid reader and traveller, and worked as a travel agent. She will be greatly missed by her other "family" and friends at "Oak Forrest" in Port Charlotte, FL, among many others in Ohio and Wisconsin.
    She is survived by her husband, Donald D., sons: Donald A. (Laura), and Daniel of Costa Mesa, CA, and Douglas of Bowling Green, OH; Grandchildren: Axel and Kenny; sisters: Carol Klassen and Julie (Archie) Polar of Menasha, WI; Brothers: Daniel (Barbara) VanDeHey of The Villages, FL, Marvin (Bonnie) of Saxeville, WI, and Robert of San Diego, CA.
    She was preceded in death by her parents: Francis and Esther VanDeHey; sister: Suzie Hayes of Menasha, WI.

  • Note: Susan H. "Ma" Hayes, Neenah, 54, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born February 15, 1952, daughter of the late Francis and Esther (Wiegart) Van De hey. Susan graduated from Menasha High School class of 1970. She was united in marriage to William Hayes on March 27, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha. She lived in Neenah where she enjoyed being a homemaker and providing daycare for her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening and she was an avid Packer fan.
    Susan is survived by, her husband, William Austin Hayes; her son, William Edward Hayes; her daughter, Tammy Sue Genett and fiance Jeff Thurk; five grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary and Ava Hayes, Austin Genett and Alec Thurk; six brothers and sisters, Dan (Barb) Van De Hey, Joan (Don) Remmel, both of Florida; Bob Van De Hey, California; Marvin (Bonnie) Van De Hey, Wild Rose; Julie (Archie) Polar, Menasha; Carol Klassen, Neenah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Joan Hayes, Richard and Anna Hayes, Ronnie and Ann Hayes, Dan and Rose Hayes, all of Neenah; Lester and Carol Greuel, Black Creek; Sally and Tom Liebhauser, Menasha; Susan and David Strassman, Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews.

  • Note: Archie L. Polar, of Menasha, age 59, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at Theda Clark Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 21, 1954 in Tomahawk, WI, son of Douglas Polar Sr. and Darlene Hintze.

    Archie married Julie Van De Hey on April 14, 1972. His passions were hunting, fishing, spending time at his cabin up north in Phelps, WI, NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers.

    Archie will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Julie; his son, Dean Polar; two granddaughters: Jordan and Ruby; his mother, Darlene Bauer, Stockbridge; a brother, Douglas (Joan) Polar JR., Merrill, WI; three sisters: Cheryl (Jerry) Ulschmidt, Merrill, Kari Polar, Merrill, Wendy (Mike) Bodway, Menasha; five nephews: Patrick Polar, Wausau, Jerome (Robin) Ulschmidt, Merrill, Jason (Deana) Jankowsky, Gleason, WI, Jeremy (Kelly) Jankowsky, Wausau, Dale Polar, Menasha and Jessica Briskie, Menasha; his dearest friends, Mick and Deb Gifford and the Gifford family; along with many who worked with Archie at the Neenah Joint School District; and his beloved cat, Noggie.

    A celebration of his life will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
