  • Birth: David Lee Tessen was born on April 18, 1948 in Freedom, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: He died on December 13, 1975, at age 27, in Town of Grand Chute, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Burial: He was buried in St John Cemetery, Little Chute, Wisconsin, New/8/55.
  • Note: 2-car crash near Appleton fatal to 2
    Two persons were killed and three others injured in a grinding two-car collision at the intersection of Outagamie County Trunks E and JJ, two miles north of Appleton, at 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
    Dead at the scene were michael D. Schultz, 22, 221 Helen St., Kimberly and David L. Tessen, 27, route 1, Kaukauna. Both were riding in a car driven by Tessen's uncle, Leonard Tessen, 38, 234 S. Helen St., Kimberly.
    According to Outagamie County Coroner Bernard H. Kemps, Schultz died from severe head injuries due to multiple skull fractures, while tessen died from massive internal bleeding caused by right side chest injuries. Both had been in the back seat and neither was thrown from the vehicle.
    Leonard Tessen sustained fractured ribs and multiple cuts and was listed in air condition at St. Elizabeth Hostpital.
    The second driver, Steven C. Arnold, 20, route 3, Appleton, received multiple cuts and abrasions and was reported in fair condition. Also in fair condition was his passenger, Beverly Kieffer, 17, route 2, Kaukauna. She had a fractured jaw and multiple cuts.
    According to a police report, Tessen was eastbound on JJ at an apparently high rate of speed and failed to stop for a stop sign.
    Schultz and David Tessen were employed by the Mount Hope Machinery Company, Kimberly. Both were single.
    Tessen was born in Appleton and was a 1966 graduate of Kaukauna High School. He is survived by his parents, one brother and three grandparents. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Catholic church, Little Chute, with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, Little Chute.
    Schultz was an Appleton native, but lived in Kimberly the past 20 years and graduated in 1972 from Kimberly High School. He is survived by his parents, one brother and three grandparents. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday from Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, with burial in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday evening at the Wichman Funeral Home, Appleton.
  • Graduation: He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1966.
