    Vanevenhoven, Nellie

    Nellie Vanevenhoven, Little Chute, age 95, died Tuesday March 30, 2010, at Brewster Village. She was born on August 18, 1914, to Peter and Johanna (Busser) Verhoeven in Little Chute. Nellie married Arthur "Archie" Vanevenhoven at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on August 20, 1935. They enjoyed 60 years of a wonderful marriage until he preceded her in death on October 28, 1995. Nellie was a life-long member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, a member of the St. Elizabeth Society and Little Chute Golden Agers. She was very instrumental in the annual Christmas Craft Sale at St. John for many years. She also initiated the funeral lunch program at her church and spent many hours volunteering her services to this program. Nellie was an excellent seamstress and made many handmade purses as gifts.

    Nellie is survived her children: Mary Ruscher, Appleton; and Jim (Vicki) Vanevenhoven, Madison; grandchildren: Dr. Ann (Dr. Leonard Go) Ruscher and their children Maggie, Michael and Maria; Kathryn (Jeffrey) Hopp, and their children, Erik and Emily; Amy (Tim) Cartwright and their children Elisabeth, Gillian and Cecilia; and Jay Vanevenhoven. She will also be missed by special friends Mary Gloudemans and Toddy Kandler.

    In addition to her husband, Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Edward Ruscher; sisters: Mary (Peter) Bongers and Gertrude (Joseph) Vandenberg; brothers: Henry (Ellen) and Antone Verhoeven; father and mother-in-law John and Hattie Vanevenhoven; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Angeline (Willard) VandenHeuvel, Ervin (Martha), Henry (Harriet), Howard, Rosemary, Ray (Rita) and Ralph (Angeline) Vanevenhoven, Lillian (Martin) Thyssen, Marian (Nick) Kavanaugh and Wilbert Vissers.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday April 6, 2010 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute). The Rev. Msgr.     Mrs. Francis Vande Voort [Florence Van Gompel] Rt. 3, De Pere

    Age 63, died Tuesday morning in a Neenah hospital. She was born March 25, 1919 in Little Chute, the daughter of the late John and Delia Verbeten Van Gompel. She attended St. John School, Little Chute. She married Francis Vande Voort, May 3, 1939 in Little Chute. Mrs. Vande Voort was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown, and their Ladies Society.

    Survivors include two sons, Donald, Appleton; and Dale, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Richard [Mary] Pezewski, Green Bay; three brothers, Joe Van Gompel, Kimberly; Ken and Earl Van Gompel, De Pere; four sisters, Mrs. Ceil Vanden Berg, Little Chute; Mrs. Grace Weiland, Kaukauna; Mrs. Wesley [Joanne] Newhouse, Freedom; and Mrs. Robert [Elaine] Wrobel, Madison.

    She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980.

    The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Shafer officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the DeWane Funeral Home, Wrightstown, after 4 p.m. Thursday. There will be a rosary by the Ladies Society at 7:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m.

    Joseph H. Van Gompel 611 Maes Ave. Kimberly

    Age 73, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 26, 1991 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born August 15, 1917 in Little Chute, the son of the late Henry and Odelia Verbeten] Van Gompel. He served with the US Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. Joe had been employed at Kimberly Clark, Kimberly Mill and Midtec for 44 years retiring in 1979. He was a very active golfer and supported his grandchildren in their sports activtites. He was an avid bingo player. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the quarter century club of Midtec, and the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion. He dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many close friends.

    He is survived by a son and a daughter in-law, Robert and Val Van Gompel, Kimberly; three daughters and two sons in-law, Patricia Van Hammond, Kimberly; Yvonne and Tom Corbett, Readfield; Diane and Mike Meier, Little Chute; nine grandchildren, Todd, Jamie and Scott Van Gompel; Marty and David Van Hammond; Julie and Amy Corbett; Michelle and Gina Meier; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Van Hammond; two brothers and sisters in-law, Earl and Terry Van Gompel, Ken and Dorothy Van Gompel, all of DePere; four sisters and a brother in-law, Ceil Vandenberg, Little Chute; Grace Weiland, Kaukauna; Joan Newhouse, Little Chute; Elaine and Robert Wrobel, Madison.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 1988, and a sister, Florence VandeVoort. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly with Fr. Bob Lexa officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday until the cortege leaves for the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. A memorial fund has been established in his name. A complete military service will be conducted immediately following the church service.
