  • Note: Alvin J. Goffard, 92, Seymour, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born Aug. 3, 1918, on the family farm in West De Pere. The fourth of nine children born to the late Isaac and Clara (Boerschinger) Goffard. The last year he resided with Janice and Eric at their home in Allouez.

    On June 24, 1941, he was united in marriage to Eleanore Vercauteren at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1998, after 56 years of marriage.

    Alvin and Eleanore farmed in the Town of Hobart, until 1959, when they moved to Seymour. Al worked at Brick Implement as a farm mechanic until 1969.

    Alvin and Eleanore enjoyed going to their cottage at Lakewood, where they fished and rode in the pontoon boat. He liked doing woodworking projects. Alvin was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour.

    He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Eric) Resler, Allouez; sister and brother-in-law, Dottie (Bob) Lemmen; in-laws, Pat Goffard, Don Fischer and Dorothy Goffard; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marcella Vande Hei, Rosemary (Alvin) Vande Hei, Carol (Don) Van Den Elzen, Emmet Mullen and Del Vercauteren.

    Alvin was preceded in death by Eleanore in 1998. Other family members, Wilbert (Lauretta) Goffard, Bernice (Norb) Severson, Evelyn (Norbert) Rentmeester, Alvina (Roy) Van Lannen, Bob Goffard, Mildred Fischer and Ervin Goffard. Eleanore's sister, Lucille Mullen and brother, Ray (Doris)Vercauteren.

    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Kabat officiating.   • Note: Age 89, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2003 while staying at the home of her son. Leona was born in Freedom on March 11, 1914 and attended elementary school in Freedom. On May 15, 1931, she married George Van Dyke; he preceded her in death in 1989. In her younger years, Leona worked in the kitchen at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was an avid card player and also enjoyed church bingo, and was a former member of the Kimberly Golden Agers. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her – she loved them all very much.

    She is survived by a daughter: Linda Schwister of Appleton and her special friend Ken Lazier; two sons: Kenneth (Bette) Van Dyke of Appleton and Cliff (Alice) Van Dyke of Neenah; eight grandchildren: Cindy (Bob) Gooding, Bill Van Dyke, Judy Van Dyke and her special friend chuck Jacob, Steve (Sherry) Van Dyke, Mike (Lisa) Van Dyke, Jim (Wendy) Van Dyke, Tom (Mary) Schwister, and Timm (Roxanne) Schwister; thirteen great-grandchildren: Adam and Matthew Gooding; Michael and Mitchell Van Dyke; Katy, Nikki, and Mindy Van Dyke; Sammy Jo and Kayla Van Dyke; Haley and Aaron Schwister; Brock and Bryce Schwister; a sister-in-law: Phyllis Vander Bloemen. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, a son-in-law Tony Schwister, brothers Herman, Burt, Bernard, and Ray, and sisters Margaret, Myrtle, Frances, and Agnes.

    The funeral liturgy for Leona will be held at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call AT THE FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 1 – 4 PM at which time the family will depart for the church for the funeral mass.

    Schwister, Linda "Lin" Linda L. Schwister "Lin", Appleton, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Linda was born June 12, 1941, in Appleton daughter of the late George and Leona (Vander Bloemen) Van Dyke. She married Anthony "Tony" Schwister in Mackville on October 1, 1960. Tony preceded her in death on October 11, 1998. Linda retired after 29 years of employment with Chase f/k/a Bank One. After she retired from Chase she was employed with M&I for seven years. Linda did volunteer work for many local organizations. She loved traveling, fishing, golfing, gardening, and playing cards especially Texas Hold'em.

    Linda is survived by her family whom she dearly loved; two sons, Tom (Mary), Appleton; Timm (Roxanne), Neenah; four grandchildren: Haley, Aaron, Brock and Bryce; her loving companion, Ken Lazier; brothers, Kenneth (Bette) Van Dyke, Appleton; Clifford (Alice) Van Dyke, Neenah; nieces and nephews,Godchildren: Andy Olk, Jim Van Dyke, and Gabe Brickler.

    Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, Menasha with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Private family burial will be on Monday in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial is being established.

    Age 60, died Sunday, October 11, 1998. He was born in Black Creek on March 14, 1938, the son of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Olk) Schwister. On October 1, 1960, Tony married Linda VanDyke in Mackville. Tony had worked for the City of Appleton Sanitation Department for 28 years and also worked part time for 17 years with Heid Music Company. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Tony was an avit Green Bay Packer fan for many years and enjoyed playing cards and cribage. He will be remembered as a person who put others first and was always available to those who needed his help. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Tony is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons: Tom (Mary) Schwister, Appleton; Timm (Roxanne) Schwister Neenah; four grandchildren: Haley, Aaron, Brock and Bryce; his mother-in-law, Leona VanDyke, Kaukauna; two brothers-in-law; Kenneth (Bette) VanDyke, Appleton; Clifford (Alice) VanDyke, Neenah; two Godsons: Jim VanDyke and Gabe Brickler; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 14, 1998 at 7 p.m. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established for the Kidney Transplant Unit at University Hospital, Madison.
