She was united in marriage to Virgil M. Van Asten on April 7, 1956. Janet attended high school at Appleton West High School.

    She was a homemaker and received her real estate broker's license. She was an active promoter of quality education and the sharing of minds. Her passion was social interaction, the sharing of ideas and experiences.

    Janet is survived by four sons, Scot (Victoria) Van Asten, Oshkosh; Robert Walter Van Asten, Shiocton; Rocky (Laurie) Van Asten, Madison; Virgil A. (Cynthia Bork) Van Asten, Appleton; daughter, Debra (David) Guckenberger, Ashippun. She will be especially missed by her beloved grandchildren, Thea and Blake Van Asten, Abby and Arik Van Asten, David John, Matthew and Alex Guckenberger. She is also survived by three brothers and a sister, William (Jane) Kippenhan, Burlington, N.C.; Cecil Kippenhan, Cameron Wis.; Joanne (Albert) Sollecito, Fishkill N.Y.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Van Asten; her brother, Kenneth Kippenhan; and her parents.

    A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton, with a fellowship to follow.

    The family is assisted by Valley Funeral Home and suggests a memorial to The Salvation Army or another favorite charity in lieu of other expressions of sympathy.

    Arthur O. Kippenhan

    Arthur Kippenhan, 85, Appleton, died Thursday, July 27, 1989. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 5, at St. James Methodist Church, Appleton, with Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating. Arthur Kippenhan was born on Jan. 7, 1904, in Greenwood, Clark County He was a member of St. James Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose. For the past 36 years he has been a resident of the Appleton area.

    Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Stammer) Kippenhan, two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Joanne) Sollecito, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Mrs. Virgil (Janet) Van Asten, Appleton; three sons, B. William, Raleigh, N.C., Cecil, Chippewa Falls and Kenneth, Preciosa, Germany; two brothers, John and Roland, Appleton; two sisters, Cilla Kippenhan, Appleton and Mrs. Elmer (Lydia) Wulf, Pueblo, Col. 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Age 86, died at 2:30 a.m.. Saturday, November 2. She was the daughter of the late William and Alma Stammer. She was born February 18, 1905, in Appleton. She was a member of the St. James Methodist Church.

    Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Joanne and Albert Solecito, Hopewell Junction, New York; Janet VanAsten, Appleton, Virgil M. VanAsten, Appleton; three sons and daughters-in-law; B. William and Jane Kippenhan, Raleigh, North Carolina; Cecil and Audrey Kippenhan, Chippewa Falls; and Kenneth and Preciosa Kippenhan, Germany; two sisters, Evelyn Thieme, Jefferson; and Angie Aumann, Jefferson; fifteen grand-children and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; and a brother, Oliver.

    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 North Richmond Street Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Monday until the time of services.

Hiroskey in January 1947 he preceded her in death in May 1974. Ruth, along with her husband, like to go out line dancing, playing pool, bowling, baseball, football, traveling and enjoying life. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Williams, Whitefish Bay her sons, Douglas M. (Jill) Hiroskey, Neenah and Dennis Hiroskey, Neenah seven grandchildren, Cory, Darbay (Kess), Lynne, Jeff, Keith, Karen, Nick six great grandchildren and two brothers, William Hornke and John (Lorraine) Hornke. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 1:15 p.m. at Westgor Funeral Home, Menasha with Father Roy Geenen officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

    And is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann (Jeff) Mulvey, Menasha, Kim (Ken) Stoegbauer, Shiocton, Terry (Rick) Boelter, Hortonville; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer and a very special granddaughter, Jamie, who was also known as his sidekick; four great-grandchildren; and two faithful companions, Ginger and Snap.
