    Felauer, Norman H. Norman H. Felauer, Greenville, formerly of Appleton, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at Living Tree Estates with his family at his bedside. Norm was born on August 22, 1916, to the late Henry and Elsie (Adam) Felauer. He married Norma Marie Yonke on April 15, 1939. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this past spring. Norm worked on Arnold Jentz's farm in the town of Ellington while growing up. He was employed by Ray's tire of Appleton and Thilmany Pulp and Paper of Kaukauna, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Thilmany's. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Appleton. Norm loved helping his son farm in Hortonville, playing sheephead, hunting deer, rabbits, pheasants and fishing with his grandsons.

    Norm is survived by his wife, Norma; three sons: Gerald (Connie) Felauer of Appleton and their two sons: Jeff (Tammy) Felauer (great-grandchildren: Samuel, Madeline, and Estelle) and Matt (Michelle) Felauer (great-granddaughters: Sylvia, Evelyn, and Violet); and Edward (Bonnie) Felauer of Hortonville and their four daughters: Lynn (Steve) Greger, Ann Felauer, Lisa (Doug) Earll (great-grandsons: Justin, Mitchell, and Brandon), and Amy (Mark) Bedard (great-grandchild Baby Bedard on the way); and David (Nancy) Felauer of Prescott Valley, AZ. Norm is also survived by two half-sisters, Monica (Lionel) Arnold and Donna (LaVerne) Mullen.

    Norm was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Oscar "Bud" Loos, and a half-sister, Francis Stammer Kelly.

    The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond St, Appleton, with Rev. Ralph Waack officiating. Friends will be received at Highland from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.

    The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Kathy, Jackie, Tom and all the staff at Living Tree Estates for their care and compassion shown to Grandpa this past year and a half. Thank you also to Dr. Dernlan and the ThedaCare Hospice nurses, especially Amy A.

    A special thanks to Amy Bedard, Lisa Earll, and Bonnie Felauer for their love and devotion to Grandpa over the last several years.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in the name of Living Tree Estates.

  • Note: Norma (Yonke) Felauer, Greenville, formerly of Appleton, 92, passed away on November 20, 2010, at Living Tree Estates, at last able to join her beloved husband Norman once again. Norma was born December 9, 1917, to the late August and Ella Yonke. At the age of 14, Norma moved to Appleton to work. She met Norman H. Felauer and they married April 15, 1939. Norma and Norman celebrated 67 years of marriage before his death in 2006. She worked at Zwickers Knitting Mill and retired from Lawrence University. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Appleton for many years. Norma enjoyed gardening, baking and playing Sheephead. One of the great joys in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had fresh baked cookies and candy available for when they came to visit.

    Norma is survived by her sons, Gerald (Connie) Felauer, Appleton; and their sons, Jeff (Tammy) Felauer; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Madeline and Estelle; and Matt Felauer; great-granddaughters, Sylvia, Evelyn and Violet; and Edward (Bonnie) Felauer, Hortonville; and their daughters, Lynn (Steve) Greger, Ann Felauer, Lisa (Doug) Earll; great-grandsons, Justin, Mitchell, and Brandon), and Amy (Mark) Bedard; great-grandchild, Megan Bedard; and David (Nancy) Felauer, Prescott Valley, Ariz. Norma is survived by special nieces, Joy and Dawn.

    Norma is preceded in death by her brothers, Irvin, Elmer, Arnold and Arly Yonke; and sisters, Helen Paul, Elsie Stecker and Wilma Brunold.

    Funeral services for Norma will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Chaplain Jim Frank officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service. The committal will be held at Highland Memorial Park.

    Norma spent her life taking care of her family and loved ones. Her family would like to extend their sincere thanks to those who took such great care of grandma these last few years, Kathy, Jackie, Tom and the staff at Living Tree Estates, and all the wonderful staff from Theda Care Hospice. It was a great comfort to the family knowing how much you cared for grandma and grandpa in their last years. Thank you. A special thank you to Lisa Earll and Amy Bedard for always being there.     Mullen, Lavern F. "Pee Wee" "Moon" Lavern F. Mullen, Appleton, 74, died at home in the arms of his daughter and wife on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Seymour on March 3, 1933, to the late Perry and Verna (Luedtke) Mullen. Lavern married Donna Felauer on Aug. 18, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek. Moon was an Army veteran of the Korean War (1953-1955) where he served in Germany. He was a mail carrier for the Appleton Post Office, #41, and delivered mail in the Highland School area for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He built his house on Apple Creek where he resided for 51 years. He took great pride in cutting his lawn and even kept a lawn mowing journal. He had the talent of repairing German cuckoo clocks for many people. He enjoyed hunting in the Eagle River area, as well as spending time at the family cottage in Pickerel where he never bothered to fish!

    He and Donna were charter members of St. Thomas More Parish. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and sharp wit. He had many nicknames including Pee Wee, Moon, #4, among others. His daughter, the "apple of his eye", gave him the name "little buddy". Moon will be greatly missed by his friends at McDonalds who he saw every morning for the past 15 years.

    Lavern is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; his daughter, Penny (Eric) Schweitzer of Seymour; sisters and brothers, Eunice Wilson, Audrey (Jim) Rogers, Eldred "Gus" (Pat), Glenn (Marlene), Richard "Pete", and Doris Mullen; and his sisters-in-law, Monica (Lyonel) Arnold and Norma Felauer. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, Lavern was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Rosella Felauer; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Wilson, Norma Felauer, Florence (Bud) Loos and Frances Stammer-Kelley.

    Lavern's final wish was to not have flowers at his funeral. Instead he asked that people plant a tree in honor of his memory and the great life he had.

    Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. at ST. THOMAS MORE PARISH (1810 N. McDonald, Appleton). The Rev. Gerald Falk will officiate.

    The family would like to thank their neighbors, Sharon and Duane Fox, as well as Red and Kathy Abel and Mark and Barb Vandenberg for all their help.

    Age 80, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001. She was born February 17, 1921 to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Adams) Felauer in Appleton. Florence married Oscar W. Loos on September 14, 1939 in Appleton, he preceded her in death on March 7, 1997. In her younger years, Florence cherished the many hours of fishing she shared with Oscar. She also enjoyed reading, birdwatching and cultivating her flower garden.

    She is survived by two sons, Daniel (Mary) Loos and Craig Loos; two grandchildren, Melissa (Gary) Verkuilen and Kyle Loos; two great grandchildren, Joshua and Nathan Verkuilen; one brother, Norman (Norma) Felauer and three sisters, Francis Kelley, Donna Mullen and Monica Arnold.

    She was preceded in death by her step mother, Rosella Felauer.

    The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Friday June 8, 2001 at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK, Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 Richmond Street, Appleton with Pastor Tom L. Fritz officiating. Visitation will be Friday at the CHAPEL from 1:00 PM until the time of service.

    7 Others Rescued
    Automobile With Eight Passengers Plunges Into Fox River
    Two men died in automobile accidents in this vicinity over the weekend.
    Vincent Verbaten, 18, Wrightstown, was drowned Sunday morning in the Fox river at Wrightstown when a car crashed through a guard chain on the Wrightstown bridge.
    Draw Bridge Open
    Verbaten was one of eight persons in a car that crashed through the chain barrier gurading the open draw of the Wrightstown bridge. All but Verbaten reached piling or other parts of the bridge underpinning and were rescued by the bridge tender and a tug boat crew.
    The bridge was open to permit passage of the tug pushing a coal boat up the river. The bridge attendant and members of the boat crew said the car struck the chain and the eight occupants were thrown into the water while the car hung momentarily on the edge of the span.
    Those saved were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beuchler, Wilma and Vitalis Mielke, Kenneth Verbaten and Cyril Phinney, all of Wrightstown, and Arnold Newhouse, Greenleaf, driver of the car,
    Newhouse was detained at the Brown-co jail, Green Bay, without any charge pending investigation by county authorities.
