She was born in St. John on August 25, 1920, daughter of the late Michael L. & Theresa (Zepnick) Kees. She was united in marriage to Raymond P. Mueller on May 3, 1944 at St. John the Baptist Church in St. John.

    Rita was very active in the Christian Women's Society, planning funeral luncheons, teaching religion for eight years, and sang in the choir at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton, now known at Good Shepherd Parish. She also worked at the Brant Inn for thirty years, ten of which she was the "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer."

    Rita enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, crocheting, gardening, dancing, playing Sheepshead, reading, and was an active member of the Chilton Senior Citizens. She, together with her husband, Ray, volunteered at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein for many years.

    Rita will always have a special place in the hearts of all of us and will be sadly missed by her children: Raymond (JoAnn) of Hilbert, Richard (Carol) of Oshkosh, Ann Marie (Bill) Juckem of Chilton, Theresa Hostettler of Chilton, Glenn (Mary Jean) of Chilton, Gail (Marvin) Thiel of Chilton, Carl (Edie) of Sheboygan, Karen (Mike) Peil of St. Augustine, FL, Connie (Tom) Daun of Chilton, Peter (Carol) of Green Bay; 30 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren with another arriving soon; her first great-great grandchild coming later this year; her brothers: Martin (MaryKay) Kees of Neenah, Michael (Christine) Kees of Valders; and her sisters: Sr. Cecile Marie of Fond du Lac, Sr. Marie of Fond du Lac, Ruth Uitenbrock of Appleton, Regina (Marvin) Brickner of Coleman, Dorothy (Roland) Brandt of Waldo, & Ann (Charles) Peters of Hilbert. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband: Ray; a son: Ronald; a son-in-law: Denis Hostettler; a grandson: Timothy Thiel; a granddaughter-in-law: Deb Cullen; her parents; her step-mother: Clara; her brothers: Adelbert, Herman, Joseph & Leonard Kees; her sisters: Sr. Annacile, Alvera, Lillian & Hildegard Kees; sisters-in-law: Helen, Esther, Marie, Joyce; and brothers-in-law: Claude Uitenbrock & Armon Zahn.

    Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Larry O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 and on Friday at the church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Parish Vigil Service will be held Thursday evening at the funeral home at 7:30 pm.

He was born November 3, 1920, in Sherwood, son of the late Peter and Anna (Lettler) Mueller. He married Genevieve Salm on April 22, 1947, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1990. Hilary farmed in the Town of Stockbridge until retiring in 1990. He also served in the United States Army during World War II in Germany. He was a member of St. Mary Parish in Stockbridge, the Stockbridge American Legion, Chilton Eagles Club, The Knights of Columbus, the Chilton Senior Citizens, and also the We Love To Dance Club. Hilary also enjoyed playing Sheepshead, Bingo, slot machines and shaking dice at the Eagles Club. He had a fantastic memory, remembering special dates and enjoyed spending time with the Legion members for special occasions like Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. He took his civic and patriotic duty very seriously and always made sure his children voted.

    He is survived by his special friend, Ceil Boehlein of Chilton; his children: Melvin Mueller of Chilton; Shirley (Robert) Hanke of Fond du Lac; Jerry (special friend, Jane Waldorn) Mueller of Menasha; Arleen (Ken) Arenz of Chilton; Joan (Gary) Nate of Brillion; Judy (Joe) Thiel of Chilton; Dorothy (Al) Broker of Kimberly; Ed Mueller of Kimberly; 11 grandchildren: Ann, Patrick (Jennifer), Amy (Joe), Jennifer (fiance Jesus), William, Jeff, Brad, Brian, Ryan, Joshua, Matthew; six great-grandchildren: Kayla, Isaac, David, Angelina, Sophia, Abigail; two brothers: Raymond (Rita) Mueller of Chilton; Jacob (Florence) Mueller of Sherwood; a brother-in-law, Lester Salm of Appleton; four sisters-in-law: Beatrice Mueller of Kaukauna; Sr. Bernice Salm of Campbellsport, Sr. Mary Patrick Salm of Wheaton, IL; Jeanette Lynch of Gladstone, MO.

    He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Mueller, five brothers, three sisters, a stepbrother, two stepsisters.

    Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery with Military Rites.   • Note: Jacob N. Mueller "Jake," age 84, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. He was born on May 12, 1926, in Sherwood, son of the late Peter and Anna (Lettler) Mueller. On June 14, 1949, he was married to the former Florence Bauer at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. Jake lived in the Sherwood area his entire life. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7732. Jake served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines, Saigon and Guam. He was a member of the American Legion Thomas E. Kees Post #496. He had been employed at Thilmany Pulp & Paper for 38 years until retiring in 1988 and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Jake enjoyed playing cards, gardening and woodworking.

    Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florence; his six children: Cheryl (Al) Mooren, De Pere, Robert (Donna) Mueller, Appleton, Debra (Randy) Krause, Green Bay, Nancy (Ken) Kolbe, Hilbert, Sandy (John) Johnson, Kimberly, and Mary (Bob) Lessor, Kaukauna; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Rita) Mueller, Chilton; two sisters-in-law: Beatrice Mueller, Kaukauna and Grace Bauer, Sherwood.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, a son Daniel, six brothers: Edmund, Bernard, Louis, Peter, Fred and Hilary; three sisters: Mary Ann Nash, Madeline Geiser and Erma Koehler; a stepbrother, Emery Krause, and two stepsisters: Margaret Kuepper and Gertrude Fahrbach.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, N369 Military Road in Sherwood with Fr. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep celebrating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the mass. Interment with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post #469 will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Jacob's name is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home in Kaukauna (920-766-2099) is assisting the family.

    Miss Marcia Hermans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hermans, Little Chute, and Paul Verstegen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Verstegen, also of Little Chute, were married at 9 o'clock this morning at St. John church, Little Chute, by the Rev. John J. Sprangers. Miss Grace Hermans, sister of the bride, and Jerome Verstegen, brother of the bridegroom, were the attendants. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to the immediate relatives and in the evening a dinner will be served to about 100 guests at the Herman home.

    Verstegen, Marcia Marcia Verstegen, 91, Little Chute, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born May 21, 1915, in Little Chute, daughter of William and Anna (Van Eyck) Hermans. Marcia was employed at Looks Meat Market, Hanegraaf Grocery and Hillcrest Meats prior to her retirement. Through the years, Marcia provided extensive loving care for her disabled son, Richard "Ricky".

    She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute.

    Mrs. Verstegen is survived by her son, Daniel E. (Mary) Verstegen, Little Chute; her grandson, Scott (Robin) Verstegen, Little Chute.

    Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard; and a sister, Grace Kobussen.

    Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Church, with Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. Monday, until the time of the mass. A memorial has been established for St. John School.
