    Vanden Elzen, Janet Janet Vanden Elzen, age 88, of De Pere died Saturday March 25, 2006. Janet was born March 31, 1917, in Goodman, WI, to the late Benjamin and Mary (Smith) Fite. Janet married Norbert Vanden Elzen on June 3, 1937, at St. Francis Catholic Church in De Pere; he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1995. Norbert and Janet volunteered at Parkview Nursing Home for more than 25 years. She was a 4-H leader for over 55 years and was the oldest leader in Brown Co. Janet was one of the founders of the East River Home Makers Club, and enjoyed being a part of the Creative Writing Group for many years at the Senior Center. In her later years Janet earned her G.E.D. which she was very proud of. Survivors include her children; Ruth and Leonard "Buddy" Goeben of Green Bay, Raymond and Shirley of De Pere, Allen and Marlene of Green Bay, Tom and Joan of Green Bay, grandchildren; Dan and Michelle Goeben, Deborah and Mark Niemuth, Denise and Dale Barnsdorf, Janet and Bernard Kaiver, Lisa and Tim Ferry, Tina Vanden Elzen, Chris and Lisa Vanden Elzen, Rene and Steve Munzel, Peter and Victoria Vanden Elzen, Rena and Joseph Esposito, Kym Vanden Elzen, Kirt and Jenny Vanden Elzen, Kelli and Clarence Crane, Scott Vanden Elzen and his wife Michelle Phillips, Sheri and Richard Morrell, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Clarence Baumgart, Gladys and James Van Den Langenberg, Evelyn Warpinski, Ralph and Maryann Baumgart, Phillip and Pat Baumgart, 2 brothers-in-law Charlie Collier and Gale Fenlon. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Jim Fite, sisters Lillian Collier, Mildred Fenlon and a brother-in-law Francis Warpinski.     Ambrosius, Ervin T. Ervin T. Ambrosius, 90, De Pere, passed away Thursday Oct. 12, 2006, at a local nursing home. He was born Jan. 10, 1916, to the late Joseph and Hattie (Ebben) Ambrosius in the town of Lawrence.

    On June 1, 1938, he was united in marriage to the former Gladys (Manders) at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. Gladys preceded him in death September 1996. Ervin was a lifelong resident of the town of Hobart and during these years he farmed and drove truck part time.

    His many accomplishments in life included Hobart town supervisor from 1959 to 1960; Hobart town chairman from 1961 to 1970; was instrumental in organizing the Hobart Fire Department; was the Brown County Board supervisor from 1961 to 1968 and served on numerous committees; first president of Brown County National Farmers Organization from 1964 to 1967 and successfully helped establish the NFO in surrounding counties and participated in district, state and national levels.

    Ervin ran for state Assembly in the mid-'60s, he also was member of the state and national Registered Holstein Association. Ervin's cattle were sold in many states in addition to foreign countries; then later retired in January 1978.

    Ervin's many travels included visiting most of the states which included frequent trips to California, Arizona, Florida and Colorado. He also traveled to Alaska, Europe, Mexico and Canada.

    An accomplishment that stood out above many others was his hiking the Grand Canyon (three times) and his last hike in 1982 at the age of 66. During many of his trips out West, he visited ghost towns and was intrigued by their history.

    Survivors include his children, Ervin Jr. (Yvonne) Ambrosius, De Pere; Shirley (Ray) VandenElzen, De Pere; Thomas (Judi) Ambrosius, California; Allen (Janice) Ambrosius, De Pere; Clayton (Karen) Ambrosius, Arizona; Linda Krueger, De Pere; Rosie (Will) Crooks, Colorado; Karen Burdette, California; Paul (Karen) Ambrosius, De Pere; Carl (Mary) Ambrosius, De Pere; Donna (George) Pearce, Tennessee; and Wayne Ambrosius, Arizona; 32 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Further survived by sisters, Mary Nell Manders and Arlene (Bob) Calaway; brother, Gerald (Joan) Ambrosius; sister-in-law, Helen Ambrosius; brother-in-law, Servanius VanDenBerg. Surviving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ambrose (Florence) Manders, Gerald (Bernice) Manders; special friends, Frank Krueger, Ann Beyers and William Hansen.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; parents; infant daughter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion (Joe) Willems, Frances (Art) VandeHei, Lorraine (Elmer) Green, Jane Vanden Berg; brother, Donald Ambrosius; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene Manders, Manfred (Irene) Manders, Earl (Marie) Manders, Clyde (Alice) Cheevers, Ernest (Lucille) Wilmet, Rachel (Norbert) Daul and Cinerita Manders.

    Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere, on Sunday Oct. 15, 2006, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family (corner of Lourdes Avenue and Suburban Drive), until the time of service.
