    Richard J. Geurts, Kaukauna, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 3, 2010, with his family by his side after a long struggle with heart disease. Dick was born on May 27, 1941, to the late Fred and Irene (Coenen) Geurts. Dick loved to fish, hunt, play cards and get together with his friends for their morning coffee. He married Dianne Schaetz on September 5, 1963, at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. Dick worked with Badger Northland, Kaukauna, for 37 years retiring in 1996.

    Survivors include his beloved wife, Dianne, his loving children and grandchildren, Rick (Joanna) Geurts and his children, Connor and Tristan, Tucson, AZ., Connie (Ken) Zirbel and their children, Chad, Maxwell, Cole and Abby, Kaukauna, Rob Geurts and his children, Bailey and Brianna, Kaukauna and Roy (Sun hyung) Geurts, Madison, four step-grandchildren, Joe, Michael, Andrew, Maura McDonough, Tucson, six sisters: Arlene (Floyd) Huss, Beatrice, Anthony, Bonnie (Ronald) Schmidt, all of Kaukauna; Mary (Marvin) Van Asten, Freedom; JoAnn (Al) Lauterborn, Suring; Judy (Dennis) Brockman, Cecil; three brothers: James (Robin), Kaukauna; Marlin (Vicky), Appleton; Dan (Mary), Wrightstown; sister-in-law, Ardene Welhouse; mother-in-law, Ellen Schaetz; four brothers-in-law: Dennis, Darold, Steve (Tammy) and Joe Schaetz and by three sisters-in-law: Joy (Dan) Rickert, Kari (Dale Liebergen) and Kathy (John) Igoe.

    He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Irene, sister, Shirley (Jim) Ambrosius and two brothers: Roland and John Geurts.

    A Mass of Christian Burial for Dick will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, W2037 County Rd. S, Freedom, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will take place in the church's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.

    John "Black Jack" Geurts, Kaukauna, age 62, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at home. He was born April 3, 1945, to Fred and Irene (Coenen) Geurts. Jack graduated from Wrightstown High School. He was a self-employed carpenter who loved growing vegetables and raising chickens at his land.


    He is survived by his children: Edward (Amy) Geurts, Karen (Tom) Gibson, and Kelly (Abdel) Terrab; Grandchildren: Adam Boehnlein and Taylor Geurts, Angela, Samir and Layla Terrab, Rachel, Kyle and Brady Gibson, special friend and caregiver, Karen Miller; former wife, Donna Geurts, six sisters: Arlene (Floyd) Huss, Beatrice Anthony, Bonnie (Ronald) Schmidt, all of Kaukauna, Mary (Marvin) Van Asten, Freedom, JoAnn (Al) Lauterborn, Suring, and Judy (Dennis) Brockman, Cecil; four brothers: Richard (Diane), James (Robin), both of Kaukauna, Marlin (Vicky), Appleton, and Dan (Mary), Wrightstown, a sister-in-law, Ardene Welhouse, and brother-in-law, James Ambrosius.


    He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene, a sister, Shirley Ambrosius, and a brother, Roland Geurts. Jack's Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name. 920-766-2099.

  • Note: Marlin "Bud" George Geurts, 68, of Appleton passed away Wednesday January 11, 2017. He was born January 14, 1948 in Wrightstown, son of the late Fred and Irene (Coenen) Geurts. Bud married Vickie Klenke on October 30, 1982.

    Bud served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Bronze Star Medal. Bud enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking with his smoker, and making his Booyah Soup for friends and family. His greatest enjoyment came from his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

    Bud is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Vickie; his five children: Scott (fiancée, Julie Conradt), Tracey (fiancé, Randy Zyduck), Michael (Amanda), Luke (fiancée, Katie Neubauer), and Alisa Geurts; five grandchildren: Gavin, Ethen, Brandon, Brody, and Halley; two brothers: Dan (Mary) and Jim (Robin) Geurts; and four sisters: Arlene (Floyd Huss), Mary (Marv) VanAsten, Bonnie (Ron) Schmidt, and Judy (Dennis) Brockman. Bud is further preceded in death by three brothers: Roland, Richard and Jack Geurts; and three sisters: JoAnn Lauterborn, Shirley Ambroisous and Bee Anthony.

    In keeping with Bud's wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Bee loved to enjoy weekends up north around the fire, spend time with her grandchildren and children, and tend to her beautiful roses. Bee worked at Kaukauna Cheese for many years until she retired at age 65.

    Survivors include her loving children and grandchildren, Cindy Anthony, Penny (Pete) Brockman and children, Terry and Danielle, Jo (Joe) Pritzl and children, Jamie and Kevin, and Tammy (Mike) Thyssen and son, Spencer; her five sisters, Arlene (Floyd) Huss, Mary (Marvin) Van Asten, JoAnn (Al) Lauterborn, Bonnie (Ron) Schmidt, and Judy (Dennis) Brockman; her three brothers, Bud (Vicky) Geurts, Dan (Mary) Geurts, and Jim (Robin) Geurts; her sister-in-law, Diane Geurts; her special friends, Mike and Rose Schuh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Irene, her sister, Shirley Ambrosius, and her three brothers, Roland, Jack, and Dick Geurts.

    A Memorial Mass for Bee will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church-St. Paul site, 423 Main Street, Wrightstown, with Fr. Carl Meulemans officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.     Ambrosius Sr., James Adolph


    James Adolph Ambrosius Sr., 77, Laona, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at home. Jim was born August 18, 1932, to Adolph and Mary (VanSistern) Ambrosius in Wauwatosa, Wis.

    He was a lifelong resident of Laona and graduated from Laona High School in 1951. After graduating, he met the love of his life, Shirley Geurts, and married her in 1953 in Wrightstown.

    Jim started at a young age helping his father and brother in the logging industry for A. J. Ambrosius and Sons Logging Co. back in the day when work was done with horses and loaded many trucks and rail cars by hand. They worked hard to gain a reputation of having one of the best logging companies in the area.

    After retiring from logging, he worked many years with his friends on the grounds crew at Nicolet Country Club in Laona taking pride in the quality of work he provided. Jim enjoyed traveling, spending several winters in Florida. The past few summers, he put many miles on his mo-ped traveling the roads and visiting with people along the way. He was a lifelong member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church and enjoyed attending daily mass. He was also a volunteer for the Laona Rescue Squad.

    Jim managed to have a successful career, loving family and a journey filled with great scenery and fascinating destinations. He will be missed by all who knew him.

    Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Mike) Belland, Sharon (Kevin) Kramer; one son, Jim (Patty) Ambrosius Jr., all of Laona; one sister, Jean (Jerry) Daul, Kaukauna; one brother, Tom (Ruth) Ambrosius, Laona; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and close friends.

    He's preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; infant son, Bruce; infant daughter, Susan; and his parents Mary and Adolph Ambrosius.

    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Laona. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John Cerkas officiating.
