He was born May 14, 1923, the son of the late Walter and Emma (Witthuln) Roehrborn. Milford married Lilas Peterson on Aug. 11, 1945. Together they had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Milford was a gentle, loving husband and father. He was an avid gardener and one with nature. Milford loved to polka, enjoyed cooking, watching the Brewers, Packers and the Badgers. He especially loved his dog, Kirby.

    Milford was a meat cutter, master sausage maker and owner/operator of Roehrborn Meats in Kaukauna. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. as an Aerial Gunnery, Radio Operator and Mechanic from July 1942 to October 1945. Milford was a P.O.W. for 22 months in Stalag 17B in Krems, Austria. He was State Commander of the Wisconsin Ex P.O.W. for 1 year, Commander of the
    Northeast Wisconsin Ex-P.O.W. Chapter for 10 years, Commander of Electric City Post 3319 in Kaukauna and Commander of Urban Klister Post 436 in Wrightstown.

    Milford will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Lilas Roehrborn of Wrightstown; children: Kathleen (Ken) Van De Hey of Greenleaf, Suzanne (Mark) Vande Hey of Kaukauna, Deborah Laux of Sauk City, Linda (Richard) Schroeder of Combined Locks, Milford Jr. (Susan) Roehrborn of Seymour, Phil A. (Ronald Surh) Roehrborn of Spring Green, Charles Sr. (Linda) Roehrborn of Kaukauna, Carolyn Romenesko (Tom Vock) of Milwaukee, Ronald (Jean Vande Hey) Roehrborn of Kaukauna, Richard (Derrick Perez Jr.) Roehrborn of Kaukauna; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Roehrborn; sister, Audrey Van Heeswyck and daughter-in-law, Pam Kaster.

    Milford is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Roehrborn, granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Vande Hey, son-in-law, Richard Liebergen, brother, Gerhardt Roehrborn and sister, Virginia Sager.

    A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 510 Sullivan Avenue, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

    Milford’s family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Appleton Medical Center’s I.C.U. as well as Dr. Danz, Dr. Gronke and Pastor Melinda for all their care and support for Milford and his family.

  • Note: Edwin O. Vanevenhoven 109 Filmore Street Kaukauna Age 84, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1915 in Kaukauna, son of the late Albert and Dora (Heindel) Vanevenhoven. Edwin married Mary Verbeten they shared 59 years of marriage. He was a long time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and AARP. Ed worked for Gustmans in Kaukauna for over 50 years and was a volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. But his grandchildren gave him his greatest enjoyment. Survivors include his wife, Mary Vanevenhoven, Kuakauna four sons: David and Maureen, Redondo Beach, California Carl and Grace, Kaukauna Mark, Kaukauna and Alan and Mary, Kaukauna six daughters: Mary Ann and Peter Hull, Moreno Valley, California Janet Linet, Kaukauna Patricia Vanevenhoven, Los Angeles, California Helen and Gary Wendt, Flagstaff, Arizona Rose Ann and Jim Woloszyk, Elm Grove, Wisconsin and Rita and Anthony Gelling, Wyalong, Australia 13 grandchildren: Keith, Alan Jr., Amy, Ann, Aaron, Melissa, Celeste, Ryan, Courtney, Tyler, Evan, Nicholas and Simon a great granddaughter, Taylor Ann. Ed is further survived by a brother, Louis and Maxine Vanevenhoven, Kaukauna two sisters-in-law: Sr. Catherine Verbeten, Racine Grace and Joe Kugler, Appleton a brother- in-law, Jeff and Dorothy Verbeten, Kaukauna. Other than his parents, Ed was preceded in death by three sisters: Eva Vanevenhoven, Vera (Harry) Myers, Helen (Don) Healy a sister-in-law, Dorothy Marolf and a brother-in-law, Bob Verbeten. The funeral liturgy will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2000 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
