  • Note: Marguerite (Rita) Constance Rickert departed this life Monday, October 8, 2012, in Huntsville, AL, after a lengthy illness. She was born February 5, 1923, in Jackson, attended Liberty Grove School, and graduated from Central High School, class of 1941, and Clark's Business School. She was a communicant of St. Richards Catholic Church.

    Marguerite was associated with Holiday Inns in Pensacola, FL and Jackson, MS and retired from the Coliseum Ramada Inn. She served as a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America and was a long time volunteer for the auxiliary of River Oaks Hospital, which she served as vice president and secretary.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ansart Lancaster and Lula Griffis Lancaster; sister, Louise Mumpower; daughter, Rita Kay Hales; and cousins, Floyd and Louise Mobley. She is survived by her husband, James Rickert, Huntsville, AL; son, George (Mickey) Constance (Ann Rutledge), Pass Christian, MS; brother in law, Dan Mumpower, of Madison, MS; granddaughters, Ashley Basham (Kyle), Brandon, MS; Julie Dorian, Chattanooga, TN; six great grandchildren; cousins, Floyd Mobley, Jr. (Sandra), Jackson, MS; Virginia Arneson, Grenada, MS; Brice Griffis, Starkville, MS; Dorothy Chastain, Ridgeland, MS; Nina Lee Hilton, Ridgeland, MS; and Elizabeth Ranager, Madison, MS. She is also survived by stepdaughters, Jennifer Nelson (Rick), Ringold, GA; Kay Gutierrez (Mike), Mayville, MI; Patti Carrigan, Huntsville, AL; Janet Traynom, Tampa, FL; ten step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren (soon to be ten).

    Marguerite's unselfish wish for anatomical donation "so others may learn" has been fulfilled by the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham. The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Richards Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held in Jackson, where she lived most of her life, at a later date.
