    Baeten (Miller), Catherine M. Catherine M. (Miller) Baeten, of Kaukauna, age 75, died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Cathy was born April 24, 1932, daughter of the late Kosmas and Caroline (Pritzl) Miller, on the home farm in the Town of Maple Grove one of fifteen children. She graduated from Brillion High school. Cathy married Clayton Baeten on October 17, 1954, at St. Mary's Church in Brillion. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage.

    Cathy was a member of Holy Cross Parish. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, card playing, reading, sewing, knitting, puzzles, and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.

    She is survived by her husband Clayton; her three children: Chuck (Lori) Baeten, Downers Grove, IL; Candee (Timm) Biesterveld and Carrie (Maury) Hartzheim, all of Kaukauna; seven grandchildren: Ryan and Nicole Baeten, Seth, Caitie, and Claire Beisterveld, Austin and Adam Hartzheim; a brother, Kosmas (Helen) Miller, Janesville; sisters: Sr. Cosmas Miller of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc; Marion Hanagan, Appleton; Gertrude Sadowski, Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Agnes Miller, Whitelaw; Doris Miller, Brillion; and special family friends: Mary Kleusken, DePere; Margaret and Florence Brewster, Kaukauna; many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by Clayton's family: brothers: Marvin (Helen) Baeten, Appleton; John (Maureen) Baeten, Red Granite; Jim (Carol) Baeten, Wrightstown; a sister, Rita (Jack) Martzahl, Wrightstown; brother-in-law, Robert Merkel, TN; and sister-in-law, Shirley Baeten, Kaukauna.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, John and Marie (VanderHeiden) Baeten; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lawrence (Anna) Miller, Norbert (Gertrude) Miller, Vincent Miller, Philip (LaVerne) Miller and Carl Miller; her sisters: Caroline (Ray) Lang, Josephine (Bill) Schuh, Ottilia (Edward) Schuh, Marcella (Alex) Fischer; and her brothers-in-law: Simon Sadwoski, Robert Hannagan; and an infant sister. She was further preceded in death by her husband's family: Robert (Sally) Baeten, Ed Baeten, Leone Merkel, and Aggie (Lee) Ganzyk.

    The Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2007, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a parish prayer service concluding the evening at the BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, and again on Monday directly at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Research. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.

  • Note: John P. "Jack" Martzahl, 85, Wrightstown, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 21, 1927 in Kaukauna, son of the late William and Genevieve Martzahl. After attending Holy Cross Catholic School he started working at Manitowoc Ship Yards in 1943. Following his job at Manitowoc Ship Yards he began to work at Thilmany Pulp and Paper in 1944. While working at Thilmany's he was drafted in the Army from 1946 to 1947 and was stationed in Korea. After returing he joined the American Legion Urban Klister Post 436 for an astounding 62 years. In 1969, he was inducted to the Quarter Century Club at Thilmany's. Jack also enjoyed the 18 years spent working at Bowers Brothers Feed Mill in Wrightstown and met many lifelong friends. Jack was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and NASCAR and never missed a game. When he wasn't watching sports you could find him in his garden or driving his John Deere tractors.

    On June 3, 1950 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, he married the love of his life, Rita Baeten. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita; his 5 children: Shari (Mike) Petersen, Hollandtown, Joe (Donna) Martzahl, Greenleaf, Pam (Randy) Kaster, De Pere, Rick (Deb), De Pere, Dan (Janine) Martzahl, Green Bay. He will be truly missed by his grandchildren, Cora and Curt Bradley, Jen and Jeremy Zahringer, Abbey and Andy Adrian, Mike and Rachaele Petersen, Jamie, Jonathon, Jordan and Jackson Martzahl and Andrea and Kaitlin Martzahl; great-grandchildren: Gavin and Wyatt Bradley, Sophia, Cayden, Grayson, and Trystan Zahringer, Emma and Evan Adrian; Haiden Martzahl; and Taylor Martzahl. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Krueger, Germaine Mc Cabe, Mary Jane (Bob) Milhieser, Ann (Tom) Jansen, and brothers: Gerald Martzahl, Paul (Sandy) Martzahl; sisters-in-law, Teresa Martzahl; Rita's siblings: Clayton Baeten, John Baeten, James Baeten; sisters-in-law, Shirley Baeten and Carol Baeten.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron; son-in-law, Jeff Roehrborn; sisters: Joan Lee and Clara VanDyke; brother, Joseph Franklin, Eugene (Vivian) Martzahl; brothers-in-law, Leon and Howard Mc Cabe, Ed, Robb, and Marvin Baeten; sisters-in-law: Agnes (Lee) Ganzyke, Leona (Robert) Merkl, Catherine Baeten.

    Family and friends may call Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul site, Wrightstown, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Fr.     Age 62, passed away at 4 a.m. Friday after a long illness. He was born in Kaukauna, March 16, 1899 and was a life resident. Mr. Martzahl was employed at the Thilmany Co. until 1958. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Holy Cross Church, a member of the Thilmany Quarter Century Club and the American Legion. He served in the Navy in World War I.

    Survivors are his widow; five daughters; Mrs. Leon Krueger and Mrs. Howard McCabe, both of Kaukauna; Mrs. Clarence Van Dyke, Oneida; Mrs. Robert Milheiser, Appleton; and Mrs. Thomas Jansen, Little Chute; four sons; Eugene and Gerald, both of Kaukauna; John, Wrightsown and Paul in the Navy stationed in Florida; five brothers; Henry, Walter, Karl and Alfred, all of Kaukauna; and Herbert of Rural Appleton; three sisters; Mrs. Frank Heimke and Mrs. James Andres, both of Kaukauna; and Mrs. Arnold Feavel, Appleton; 39 grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna at 10 a.m. Monday with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna, after 7:30 p.m. Saturday with the rosary at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

    Age 18, passed away Monday morning as a result of a car accident. He was born on May 24, 1955 in Green Bay and attended St. Paul Parochial School. He was a graduate of Wrightstown High School. He was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co. of Kaukauna.

    Survivors are his parents; Mr. and Mrs. John Martzhal, Wrightstown; two sisters; Mrs. James Vanden Berg, Wrightstown; and Pamela, at home; three brothers; Joseph, Richard, and Dan, all at home; his paternal grandmother; Mrs. William Martzhal, Kaukauna.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown, with the Rev. Richard Shafer officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the DeWayne Funeral Home after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 7 :30 p.m Tuesday.
