    Behling, Ernstena A. "Stena" Ernstena A. Behling, "Stena," 84, Combined Locks, died Sunday morning, March 18, 2007, following a courageous battle with lung disease. She was born March 17, 1923, to the late Nicholas and Agnes (Yingling) Lom, in Combined Locks, where she was a resident all of her life. Stena enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, painting and other crafts.

    She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and is survived by her loving husband, Raymond A. Behling, to whom she had been married for 56 years; three sons, Jeffrey Behling, Combined Locks; Douglas Behling, Little Chute; Todd Behling and special friend, Kay, Little Chute; five grandchildren, Traci (Mike) Schuh, Benji (Ann) Behling, Linsey, Nick, special friend, Heather and Amber (Andy) O'Connor; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Olivia Schuh; three sisters, Gretchen (Robert) Biese, Combined Locks; Betty (Glen) Aerts, Kimberly; Ione Jansen, Combined Locks.

    She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Rodrick and Clifford Lom, and four sisters, Johanna Siegle, Rachel Jansen, Barbara DeCoster and Lorraine Jansen.

    The funeral liturgy for Ernstena will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 East Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Father Jim Lucas and Father Bob Vandenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Combined Locks. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and on Wednesday, at the church from 10 a.m., until the time of the Mass. A parish prayer and scripture service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday. A memorial fund is being established.

    The family would like to thank her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Glen Aerts, the staff of Appleton Medical Center, the staff of ThedaCare Hospice and Margie Douglas, of St. Paul Catholic Church, for their loving care and support.

    Ione was born on July 23, 1929 to Nick and Agnes (Yingling) Lom. She was united in marriage to Lester Jansen on October 10, 1950. Ione enjoyed taking care of her yard and was always pulling the weeds. She was devoted to her faith and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Most of all she loved her family and she always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Ione is survived by her children; Susan Verhagen, Randy Jansen, and Rodney (Julie) Jansen, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Shirley Jansen and a son-in-law Dave Kempen. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her son Tim Jansen, and daughter Debra Kempen and her siblings.

    The funeral liturgy for Ione will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace St. Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

    Betty Aerts, age 88 of Combined Locks, passed away at Atrium Post Acute Care in Little Chute on Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015. Betty was born in Combined Locks on September 22, 1927, daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Yingling) Lom. On June 4, 1947, she married Glenn Aerts at St. Paul Church in Combined Locks, and the couple spent over sixty-eight wonderful years together. In her working days, Betty worked as a cook in the Kimberly School District for over twenty-five years. She loved baking and cooking, and enjoyed sharing her tasty treats with relatives and friends. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved them all very much.

    She is survived by her husband: Glenn Aerts; two sons: Terry Aerts of Lakewood and Tom (Lisa) Aerts of Sherwood; six grandchildren: Amy (Todd) Van Hout, Timothy (Peggy) Aerts, Daniel (Mary) Aerts, Josh Aerts (Misty Verhagen), Nick (Alyssa) Aerts, and Laura (fiancé Jason Wierschke) Aerts; eight grandchildren: McKenna, Kirsten, Owen, Ethan, Alexis, Kherington, Watson, and Lincoln. She is also survived by a sister: Ione Jansen of Combined Locks; a brother-in-law; Ray Behling; as well as many special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Johanna (Jack) Siegl, Alfred (Vera) Lom, Rachel (Richard) Janssen, Rod (Helen) Lom, Barb (Clarence) DeCoster, Cliff (Mary Jansen) Lom, Stena Behling, Lorraine (John) Jansen, and Gretchen (Bob) Biese; and brothers-in-law: Lester Jansen and Kenneth Aerts.

    The funeral liturgy for Betty will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Inurnment will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

    Raymond Behling, age 96 of Combined Locks, passed away at a local care center on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Ray was born in Kimberly on January 10, 1921, son of the late Raymond and Theresa (Luniak) Behling. He married Stena Lom on June 10, 1950; she preceded in death in 2007. As a young man, Ray served his country as a member of the United States Navy, and later worked at the Kimberly Clark mill in Kimberly for over forty-five years.

    Ray was an all-around good guy with a good sense of humor who enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising dogs, gardening, the Packers, and spending time up north at Roberts Lake.

    He is survived by three sons: Jeff (Gail) Behling of Wabeno; Doug Behling of Argonne; and Todd (Kay Huempfner) Behling of Little Chute. His grandchildren are Traci (Mike) Schuh, Benji (Ann) Behling, Linsey (Nick) Rochon, and Amber (fiancé Brian Hockers). His great-grandchildren are Connor, Olivia, Tristan, Ryker, and Briar. Ray is also survived a sister: Collette Kampo; brothers Arthur (Margie) Behling and Jerome "Bucky" Behling; sisters-in-law Joan Behling and Dorothy Behling; and a brother-in-law Glen Aerts.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Nick Behling, sisters Eleanor (Bob) Braun and Rosemary Irwin, and brothers Kenneth, Cyril, and Daniel Behling.

    The funeral liturgy for Ray will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 Wallace Street in Combined Locks, with Fr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

  • Note: Timothy G. Jansen, Kaukauna, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. He was born on April 21, 1951 in Combined Locks, son of Lester and Ione (Lom) Jansen. Tim graduated from Kimberly High School in 1969, then proudly served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He then went on to make his career as a semi-truck driver at Dorn's Delivery and Transfer where he worked for 33 years and was enjoying retirement for the past 4 years. Tim always made time for his hobbies which included family time, fishing, hunting, reading, walking, exercising, snowmobiling, and spending time in the great outdoors of Northern Wisconsin.

    He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Jansen; his daughter, Lisa (Art) Norton, his son, Corey (long-time girlfriend, Joye Schmeling and her children, Keagan and Hayden) Jansen, his loving grandchildren: Joshua McDonald, Allison McDonald, Abbi (son Iven) Norton, Bryce Jansen; his mother, Ione Jansen, his brothers: Randy Jansen and Rodney (Julie) Jansen; his sister, Susan Jansen Verhagen. He is further survived by his wife's family: mother-in-law, Deloris Benzschawel; sisters and brothers-in-law: Connie and Bill Radtke, Glen and Cheryl Benzschawel, Alan and Pamela Benzschawel, Gary and Jeri Benzschawel, Todd and Linda Benzschawel, Bonnie and Ian Davison, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Jansen, a sister, Debra Kempen and father-in-law, Clifford Benzschawel.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating.   • Note: Glenn Jerome Aerts, 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the American Grand Senior Care Living Facility in Kaukauna, following a brief illness.

    Glenn married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Lom on June 4, 1947, and resided in Combined Locks and Kimberly for most of his life. After serving in the Navy, he was employed by the Combined Locks Paper Mill for eighteen years, and then fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning his own business when he opened Glenn’s Bar. After retirement, Glenn worked part-time for the local ShopKo store in Kimberly and spent many years caring for his wife Betty, until she passed on December 2, 2015.

    Glenn is survived by two sons: Terry Aerts and Tom (Lisa) Aerts; six grandchildren: Amy (Todd) Van Hout, Tim (Peggy) Aerts, Dan (Mary) Aerts, Josh (Misty Verhagen) Aerts, Nick (Alyssa) Aerts, Laura (Jason) Wierschke; ten great-grandchildren: Owen, Ethan, McKenna, Kirsten, Alexis, Kherington, Watson, Lincoln, Griffin (Aerts) and Broxton Wierschke.

    Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and a brother Kenneth.

    Glenn will be remembered as an outgoing person who enjoyed being with other people and making them feel special with his gifts of friendship and good deeds. He took great pride in his family and loved to keep up with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on how they were doing.

    In keeping with his own wishes, Glenn will be fondly remembered and sent on to Eternal Life in a private service, attended by his closest family and dearest friends.

  • Note: Small Child Killed Under Truck's Wheels
    A 14-month-old child was killed this morning beneath the wheels of a truck under which she had crawled while it was parked at her home at route 4, Appleton, a mile north of Little Chute.
    Karen Baumgart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Baumgart, died almost instantly of a skull fracture and a cranial hemorrhage.
    According to Elden Broehm, Outagamie county sheriff's clerk who investigaed the accident, the hald ton pickup truck was driven by George M. Spierings, route 1, Kaukauna, who owns a barn adjoining the Baumgart property.
    Spierings, who shares the same driveway with Baumgart, had come to the barn to feed h is stock. While he was doing his chores, the child apparently toddled from the house and crawled under the truck. The barn is about 200 feet from the Baumgart home.
