    Pierre Blanchet

The Blanchet can boast to be among the oldest Québec families to be by women, related to the first family pioneer, that of Louis Hébert. The name, derived from the word white, was brought by three pioneers.

The first, René, was in New France from 1663 and was about 25 years old. He lived mostly in Cap-de-la-Madeleine. Married Marie Sédillot in 1670, he had five children. The offspring of the couple was provided by girls, Jeanne-Judith who married Jean Baril and Marie-Simone who married Julien Lesieur.

Pierre Blanchet said Laforêt would not have him either, left descendants bearing his name. Originally from Poitou, he worked, as René, the profession of Miller. Combined with Marie-Françoise Harel, he had six children, five sons and a daughter, including none, it seems, has left descendants.

The only father of the blanket is Pierre, son of Noël and Madeleine Valet the parish of Saint-Omer-de-Rozières, bishopric of Amiens, in Picardie. This village was said to be dependent of the hosiery industry and for Pierre, born between 1637 and 1646, it is perhaps natural to opt for the trade of Weaver. Of his childhood, adolescence and the early years of his adult life, we know no details. His years of learning, the reasons for his coming in New-France are also, forgotten forever, the registers of his native parish having been destroyed.

In 1667, "Pierre Blanche', 25 years, lives with Simon Lefebvre Angers, in the seigneury of Notre-Dame-des-Anges. He was introduced to the work of the Earth, as committed and he did so well the things at the end of its commitment, to 1669, it can consider 'desert' a land that will be his own. This is the Weaver become a woodcutter and Défricheur. This land is taken on the Saint-Joseph fief which part belongs to the Lord Guillaume Fournier. In this land of two acres, is a modest dwelling. Fournier the gives and the land, because the marriage his daughter Mary, born in 1655, and Pierre Blanchet undertake to conclude, on 3 October 1669. The contract was signed in Quebec City, in the House of the joiner Jacques of the Roe, in the presence of many parents and friends. Noël Morin, grandfather by marriage, is there with Hélène DesPortes, the grandmother of the bride, as well as Jean Guyon said of Bush, Samuel Vigny, Simon Bourbeau and others.

The marriage of great-granddaughter of Louis Hébert and Pierre Blanchet is blessed in "the parish church of Quebec" by the Abbé Henri de Bernières, 17 February 1670.

A little later, in the summer and in the autumn of 1670, Fournier sold his part of the fief of Saint-Joseph to intendant Jean Talon. November 8, 1671, imitating his father-in-law, Blanchet is preparing to abandon the lordship. He rented his land to Étienne Potier (Pothier), and the following year, he was in defeated completely by selling it to Louis Rouer de Villeray. At the time where he was renting his land, BHULLAR knew that, as Guillaume Fournier again, he would settle in the tip-to-la-Caille who became Saint-Thomas de Montmagny, on a land of three arpents by 40 granted by Louis Couillard de Lespinay.

The years saw family heritage to expand and spend three to six acres on the River front. It indeed takes a lot of land to Blanchet, whose wife, since 1672, a child in the world to all two years or close. In thirty-nine years of marriage, she will give her husband sixteen children of whom seven will only reach adulthood.

Pierre Blanchet biographers discovered that the ancestor, were good, hardworking and generous, could also be stubborn and secretive. In 1688, abusing the trust of the seigneuress, Geneviève Despré, he devoted a part of the winter bonfire, cut and prepare the wood that it intends to sell or keep. Updated, the widow of Louis Couillard seeks his and the case rule immediately, without the intervention of third parties. The same year blanket again and again the timber cutting, knowing perfectly well that it has not the right. The seigneuress advertising before the Conseil souverain which seems - you it exhaust the ancestor who is staying at the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec from 23 to 30 June 1690. After the call, a final settlement grants one-third of the wood cut at Geneviève Després as Blanchet may reclaim possession of the remaining two-thirds.

April 10, 1709, Pierre Blanchet sensing its imminent end, calls for the presence of its parish priest, to whom he dictates his last wishes. Sharing his land among his children, however in leaves a party to the parish; He is also an acre that it intends to show devoted to the instruction of Louis, born in 1701. Two days later, 'the snowman Pierre Blanchet aged about sixty and twelve years' is buried after having received all the sacraments. The following month, was Captain Louis Côté guardian of minor children.
