    Green, Jr., John J.


    John J. Green Jr., 83, Freedom, died unexpectedly at home Monday, Dec. 14, 2009. He was born in Freedom, Wis., on March 11, 1926, to the late John and Dora (Verhasselt) Green. John married Germaine Diedrick on Nov. 27, 1956, at St. Nicholas Parish, Freedom.

    An Army veteran, he belonged to the VFW Post 7692, Freedom, and Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute. As a member of St. Nicholas Parish, John served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. John retired from Thilmany Pulp & Paper Co. in 1989. He also drove for Swinkles Bussing.

    John loved to go to his cabin on Berry Lake. He and Germaine vacationed in Florida each winter. He was an avid card player and enjoyed word-find puzzles. He also enjoyed walking, riding his bike and tinkering with things. John was loyal to the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

    John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Germaine; children, Randy (Vicky), Freedom; Shari (Mike) Greiner, Freedom; Jay (friend, Tien Pham), Tampa, Fla.; and Tammy (Bert) Lim, Whitefish Bay; grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Kranski, Paige Green, Nicholas (Kristen), Aren and Heather (friend, Kyle Early) Greiner, Abby and Lydia Lim; brothers and sisters, Rosella Kortz, Verna Berken, Francis Moudry and Eleanor (Bud) Bowers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Van Vreede, Larry (Dolly) Diedrick and Helen Diedrick; godchildren, LeAnn, Nancy, Dan, Ken and Mike; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his infant daughters, Sharon and Mary; brothers and sisters, Norbert (Harriet), William (Lorraine), Vincent (Elaine), Robert (Beady) and Charlotte Green, Florence (Leo) Schmidt, and Esther Van Vreede; and brothers-in-law, Orin Kortz, Gerald Berken, Leo Weiland, Harry Moudry and Richard Diedrick.

    The family will hold a private service.

    The family would like to thank Deacon Don Newhouse, the Gold Cross EMTs, Angela Bellile and John Arnoldusen, the Freedom First Responders and Freedom Officer Chris Nechodom for all the support and compassion given to John, Germaine and their family.     John and Germaine enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Berry Lake with family and friends. Playing cards was a favorite pastime. In recent years, Germaine most enjoyed her card games with the 6-Pack and Misfits groups and the Bowers family. Germaine belonged to the St. Nicholas Church Choir for 45 years and took great pride in volunteering with the Freedom Food Panty and the Freedom Area Historical Society since their very beginnings.

    Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Germaine often said there was no greater joy than seeing a new baby come into the family.

    Germaine is survived by her children; Randy (Vicky), Shari (Mike) Greiner, Jay (Tien) and Tammy (Bert) Lim. Grandchildren; Sarah (Eric) Kranski & Paige Green, Nick (Kristen) Greiner, Aren (Heather) Greiner & Heather (Kyle) Early, Reese & Jonathan Green and Abby & Lydia Lim. Blessed with nine great grandchildren; Maeven & Callie Jo Kranski, Brayden & Adalyn Greiner, Adrian Greiner, and Mason, Levi & Colton Early. Sisters- & brothers-in-laws Helen Diedrick, Dolly & Eddie Gerhartz, Jim VanVreede, Verna Berken and Bud Bowers.

    Germaine is preceded in death by her daughters; Sharon & Mary; her parents; two brothers, Rich and Larry Diedrick; father- & mother-in-law John & Dora (Verhasselt) Green; and great-granddaughter Makaya Greiner. Brothers- and sisters-in-law Norb (Harriet) Green, Bill & Lorraine Green, Florence (Leo) Schmidt, Francis & Leo Weiland, Rosella (Orin) Kortz, Jerry Berken, Vince & Elaine Green, Esther VanVreede, Bob & Beady Green, Eleanor Bowers and Charlotte Green.

    Germaine is especially grateful to be surrounded by her children, family and supporting friends, including Bud Bowers, during her illness.

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom.     Frances died at 9:41 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, with members of her loving family at her side. She died as she had lived - quietly, peacefully, without fuss. Her quick, easy wit and sparling green eyes will be missed. Frances will be remembered as a kind person, happy in everyday life and guided by faith.

    She was born November 3, 1919, the daughter of the late John and Dora (Verhasselt) Green, and was raised on the family farm in Freedom.

    Frances married Leo Weiland on December 1, 1945. Leo preceded her in death on March 17, 1972. She married Harry Moudry on August 13, 1980, who died on February 4, 2006.

    Frances is survived by six children, David (Jackie) Weiland, Darboy; Bruce (fiancée Vicky Barke) Weiland, Shiocton; Mike (Pat) Weiland, Kimberly; Mary Weiland, Kaukauna; Kathy Weiland, Mill Creek, Washington and Dan Weiland, Freedom, and a step-daughter, Marlene (Edward) Hughes, Mission, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters, Verna Berken and Eleanor (Bud) Bowers; sister-in-law Germaine Green and brother-in-law Jim Van Vreede; 6 grandchildren, Brian Weiland, Jaimie Reider, Nicole Schultz, Renee Price, Katie Weiland and Tracy Boeing and 3 step-grandchildren, Tammy Gonzales, Kip Hughes and Mary Ellen Thomas.

    Frances was preceded in death by four sisters Florence (Leo) Schmidt, Ester Van Vreede, Rosella (Orin) Kortz and Charlotte Green; five brothers Norbert (Harriet) Green, Bill (Lorraine) Green, Bob (Beady) Green, John Green and Vincent (Elaine) Green and brother-in-law Gerry Berken. She was also preceded in death by brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Bernard (Lorraine) Weiland, Louis (Grace) Weiland, Frank Weiland, Henry (Irene) Weiland, Edward Moudry, Arnold Moudry, Richard Moudry, Frances (George) Mertens, Mary (Harold) Fassbender, Agnes Weiland, Elizabeth (Chester) Appleton, Vi Process and Grace LeMense.

    The funeral liturgy for Frances will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Holy Spirit/Holy Name Church, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Father Dave Pleier officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

    Van Vreede (Green), Esther M. Esther M. Van Vreede passed away Sunday evening at her home with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, daughter of the late John and Dora (Verhasselt) Green on Sept. 6, 1949, she was married to James Van Vreede. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in a variety of volunteer activities and charitable organizations including St Mary's library, St Mary's church and was a member of the Altar Society, and Brother Regis Salvatorian Mission Warehouse. Survivors include her husband, Jim; her children, Dale (Marcia) Van Vreede, Maple Grove, Minn.; Karen (Jerry) Verhagen, Little Chute; Jean (Dave) Gerhartz, Kaukauna; Connie (Jerry) Evers, Freedom; Leann Paulos, Janesville; sisters, Francis (Harry) Moudry, Rosella Kortz, Verna Berken, and Eleanor (Bud) Bowers; brothers, John (Germaine), and Bob; and sisters-in-law, Harriet and Elaine; grandchildren, Melissa, Krista, Tim, Jill, Craig, Jeff, Tracey, Melinda, Julie, Greg, Keith, Kyle, Brian and Eric; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Emmett and Reese. She was preceded in death by brothers, Norbert, Bill, and Vince; sisters, Florence and Charlotte; sister-in-law, Lorraine; brothers-in-law, Leo Schmidt, Gerald Berken and Leo Weiland; and son-in-law, Mark Paulos. Eleanor was born March 10, 1932 in Freedom to the late John and Dora Green. She married Bud Bowers on August 27, 1953 in Freedom, WI.

    She and her husband farmed all their life in Kaukauna, WI. She was an active member of St. Paul Parish, being active in the Martha Choir, Christian Mother's Society and the Auxiliary of the Post 436 Legion. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren up at the cottage. She also was an avid Brewers fan.

    Together Eleanor and Bud raised 12 children: Russ (Lisa) Bowers, Keith (Judy) Bowers, Sue (Gary) Brochtrup, Carol (Dennis) Van Rossum, Jim (Sheila) Bowers, Alan (Laurie) Bowers, Mike (Laurie) Bowers, Mary (Rick) Vanden Wymelenberg, Ken (Judy Lynn) Bowers, Amy (Tony) Francis, Nancy (Mike) Francis and Jeff (Stephanie) Bowers. She is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, sister Verna Berkin, sister-in-law Germaine Green, brother-in-law Jim Van Vreede, Bud's family: Clarence Bowers, Bob (Roseann) Basten, Arlene Blair, Margaret Bowers, Ann Bowers and Mary Jane Bowers, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her brothers: Norbert (Harriet) Green, Bill (Lorraine), Vince (Elaine), John, Bob (Beattie), her sisters: Florence (Leo) Schmidt, Rosella (Orin) Kortez, Francis (Leo) Weiland, Esther Van Vreede, Charlette Green and brother-in-law Jerry Berkin.

    Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Catholic Parish-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Sunday, May 3, from 3-7pm. A parish prayer service will conclude the evening at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, at the church, from 9:00 until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday with Fr. John Schuh officiating. Interment in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

    The family is grateful to St. Paul's Hospice and the loving staff in the Poppy Path Wing, and also to Dr. Johnson.

Joyce was born April 28, 1936, in Menchalville, daughter of Maureen Burish Stradal and the late Frank Stradal. Joyce graduated with the class of 1954 from Valders High School. On September 18, 1956, Joyce married Richard Schuh at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville, he preceded her in death January 27, 1997. Joyce lived most of her life in Menchalville and Kellnersville, and was employed at the Paragon Company for 18 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Joyce enjoyed reading, cooking, and crafting. Survivors include her mother, Maureen Stradal, Manitowoc; four children, Robert and Darlene Schuh, Whitelaw; Rick and Kris Schuh, Menchalville; Mike and JoAnn Schuh, Two Rivers; Roger and Jenny Schuh, Freedom; eight grandchildren, Bryce, Destin, and Ashley Schuh all of Whitelaw; Amanda Schuh, Menchalville; Dominick Schuh, Two Rivers; Mekaila, Alaina, and Isley Schuh, all of Freedom; one Godchild, Jenny Terens, Manitowoc; one sister, Janice (Jerry) Terens, Manitowoc; other relatives and friends also survive. Joyce was preceded in death by her father; husband Richard; and one infant brother, Francis Stradal.     DeBruin, Ardyce E.
    Ardyce E. DeBruin, 78, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 16, 1930, in Weyauwega, the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie (Miller) Koehler. On Oct. 10, 1970, she married LeRoy DeBruin. Ardyce was employed as a legal secretary in Appleton for a number of years. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and looked forward to an occasional visit to the casino. Her very good friends in her apartment complex kept daily tabs on Ardyce and their children adopted her as "Grandma Ardie". Also, her niece, Sherry (Gary) from Oshkosh, did the shopping for her on a regular basis.
    Survivors include her siblings, Leroy (Geneva) Koehler, Appleton; Loraine Holcombe, Weyauwega; Werner (Jeanine) Koehler, Appleton; and Duane (Elizabeth) Koehler, Weyauwega. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ardyce will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Verona (Robert) Wohlt; and brother-in-law, Leslie Holcombe.
    The funeral service for Ardyce will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009, at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK - STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Vilas E. Mazemke officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
