    Alvin was born October 11, 1925 in the Town of Lincoln (Kewaunee County), to the late John and Anna (VanDrisse) Gigot. He married Bernice Kinnard on July 1, 1950 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lincoln. He graduated from Algoma High School in 1942 and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He farmed on the family farm in Lincoln and at his own farm in Cooperstown before becoming a realtor. In 1960 he co-founded Province Realty and worked at the company until his retirement.

    He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Ashwaubenon and was an avid fan of Ashwaubenon High School sports. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching sports of all kinds, especially the Green Bay Packers. He will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren and will be fondly remembered for his quiet strength, quick wit and sense of humor. Nothing was more important to him than family.

    Survivors include three sons; Kyle (Mary Beth) and Kelly (Ginny), Green Bay, and Wayne (Kathy), Appleton; three daughters, Cheryl Thomson, Sobieski, Ann (Jerry) Kulig, Tampa and Mary, Madison. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Derrick Thebo, Scott, Robin (Charles) Bedard, Matt (Jenni), Danny, Chris, Kalyn, Jon and Alex; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emiline Gigot, Jeanne Gigot, Vernon and Betty Kinnard, Dale and Rose Mary Kinnard, Lilly Mae and Gerald Cravillion, Sam and Rose Marie Lefevre, Mary Jane Kinnard and Emil Vandermause.

    Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, parents, father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Lillian Kinnard; son-in-law, Tom Thomson; brothers, Elmer Gigot, John (Mary Jane) Gigot and Lewellyn Gigot; sisters Mabel (Emil) Vandervest, Evelyn (Harry) Fabry and Agnes Gigot; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold, Lloyd and Joseph (Betty) Kinnard, Veronica (Roy) Leudtke and Gladys Vandermause.

    Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 1 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay. Prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St., Green Bay on Saturday, March 2 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Entombment will take place at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

  • Note: Bernice Gigot, 83, Ashwaubenon, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2012 at home after a short illness. She was surrounded by her children and devoted husband of 62 years.

    Bernice was born November 21, 1928, in the Town of Lincoln (Kewaunee County), to the late Joseph and Lillian (Tlachac) Kinnard. She married Alvin Gigot on July 1, 1950, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Town of Lincoln. She graduated from Casco High School in 1946 and from Door-Kewaunee Normal School in 1948. She taught for two years at Lafayette School, a one room elementary school in Kewaunee County. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother and community volunteer.

    Bernice was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Ashwaubenon, where she taught religious education for 25 years, served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Women's Guild. She was also active in the Ashwaubenon Lioness. Her interests included cooking, baking, tending her flowers and solving the daily crossword puzzle. She led a faith filled life and was happiest spending time with family. She is remembered for her dignity, kindness, optimism and seeing the good in everyone.

    Survivors include her husband, Alvin; three sons, Kyle (Mary Beth) and Kelly (Ginny), Green Bay, and Wayne (Kathy) Appleton; three daughters, Cheryl Thomson, Sobieski, Ann (Jerry) Kulig, Tampa, and Mary, Madison. Bernice is also survived by nine grandchildren, Derrick Thebo, Scott, Robin (fiance Charles Bedard), Matt (Jenni), Danny, Chris, Kalyn, Jon and Alex; two brothers, Vernon (Betty) Kinnard, Dale (Rosemary) Kinnard; one sister, Lilly Mae (Gerald) Cravillion; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sam and Rose Marie Lefevre, Mary Jane Kinnard, Emil Vandermause, Emeline Gigot and Jeanne Gigot.

    Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother in-law, John and Anna Gigot; son-in-law, Tom Thomson; brothers, Harold, Lloyd, and Joseph (Betty) Kinnard; sisters, Veronica (Roy) Luedtke and Gladys Vandermause and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mabel (Emil) Vandervest; Evelyn (Harry) Fabry; Elmer Gigot; Agnes Gigot; John (Mary Jane) Gigot; and Lewellyn Gigot.
