    Age 87, passed away peacefully at Brewster Village, Tuesday, August 6, 2002 with her family by her side. She was born November 11, 1914 in Little Chute daughter of the late George and Lillian (Bowes) Vander Velden.

    Evelyn is survived by her son, Jack (Kay) Lex, Little Chute six grandchildren: Jeremy (Tera) Lex, Little Chute Ronald (Holly) Wolff Jr., Black Creek Sharon (Steve) Zitzelburger, Appleton Herbert Wolff and special friend Tammy, Hortonville Denise Borchardt, Appleton Amy Borchardt, Greenfield six great-grandchildren: Megan, Logan, Kristie, Brett, Susan and April two sisters: Ruth Rhodes and Mercedes (Ray) Chartier a brother, Robert Vander Velden a sister-in-law, Doris Vander Velden also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Ronald G. Wolff Sr. a brother, Harold and two sisters, Loretta and Mabel. Also preceded in death by a sister-in-law and several brothers-in-law.

    The family would like to express a special thanks to her niece, Bonnie (Pat) Keyes and Dolly LeMere for all their tender love and care throughout the years and to the staff and friends she made at Brewster Village (Symphony Place) who with love and patience gave Evelyn the quality of life she deserved even in her time of passing. Also to all her friends at John Fischer Manor.

    A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2002 at the Verkuilen Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Schrage officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

  • Note: Raymond S. Van Handel, age 87, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born on October 7, 1923, son of the late William and Margaret (Vanden Bloomen) Van Handel.

    On April 5, 1945 he was united in marriage to Hortense Smet, in Kaukauna, she preceded him in death on November 6, 1997. Ray and his wife farmed in the Town of Cicero for many years.

    Survivors include his son, Don (Judy) Van Handel, Seymour; grandchildren: Bill (Kim) Van Handel, Seymour; Jim (Natalie) Van Handel, Seymour; Sara Van Handel, Seymour; great grandchildren: Brooke, Brian, Ryan and Riley; sisters: Betty Roach, Green Bay; Grace (Doyle) Jordan, Oneida; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clarence (Margaret) Smet, Joe (Ceil) Smet, Margaret Bowers; Katie Schlimm, Francis Smet

  • Note: Julitta “Julie” Schwalbach, of Menasha, age 94, passed peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017. She was born November 17, 1922 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Joe and Minnie (Vanderloop) Hennes.
    Julie graduated from Appleton High School. She then worked for Wisconsin Bell until her marriage to Robert Schwalbach on April 22, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1996. Julie worked for many years as an Avon representative. She also was employed with Wanserski’s Foods for 15 years. Then she worked as a cashier at Theda Clark Hospital for nine years before retiring.
    Julie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family at get-togethers, especially at the lake cottage in Pickerel, WI.
    Julie was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha.
    Survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law: Glen and Judy, Ron and Darlene, Peter and Julie, and Ken and Kathie; six grandchildren: Amy Schwalbach, Brian Schwalbach, Sara (Tim) Chapin, Paul (Chris) Schwalbach, Ryan Schwalbach, and Chad Schwalbach; five great-grandchildren: Lou, Cameron, Evan, Emily and Sam; a sister, Bernice Nack; a niece, Connie (Mike) Collins; three nephews: Bill (Cindy) Nack, Gary Nack, and Jeff Nack; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
    Besides her husband, Julie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Schwalbach; a brother-in-law, William Nack and a close sister-in-law Margaret Schwalbach.
    The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass. A memorial is being established for St. John’s Church.

  • Note: Bernice Ann Nack, age 93, of Menasha, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. Bernice was born May 14, 1924 in Cudahy, WI to the late Joseph and Minnie (Vanderloop) Hennes. She graduated with the class of 1942 at Appleton High School. In 1945, she was united in marriage to William J. Nack Sr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 68 years together until Bill passed in 2014. Bernice worked in the research department at Kimberly Clark. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Bernards for many years. Bernice enjoyed reading, laughing, and loved spending time with her family - especially children.

    She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Mike) Collins, Appleton; 3 sons: Bill (Cindy) Nack, Hartland, Gary Nack, Menasha, and Jeffery Nack, Appleton; 9 grandchildren: Jill Arnoldussen, Beth (Randall) Reed, Patti (Ben) Fouts, Aaron (Hillary) Nack, Jamie (Tania) Nack, Joel (Sarah) Nack, Kim (Scott) Wing, Josh (Jill) Nack, and Courtney Marzahl; 18 great grandchildren: Matt, Sam, Seth, Spencer, Aubrey, Ellie, Lillie, Lucie, Rory, Liam, Lachlan, Connor, Caden, Molly, Dalton, Elizabeth, Emily, and Teagan.

    She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Minnie Hennes, husband William J. Nack Sr., sister Jullita (Bob) Schwalbach, great grandchildren Gracie and Isaiah, mother and father-in-law, and brother-in-law James Nack.

    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St. Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Friends and relatives may visit at the church on Thursday from 9 am until 10:45 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

  • Note: William J. Nack "Papa", age 90, of Menasha, died Monday, August 25, at Theda Clark Medical Center after a short illness. Bill was born in Appleton on July 3, 1924, to the late William and Martha (Kraft) Nack. After attending Appleton High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On November 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Bernice Hennes at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. The couple cherished 68 years together. Bill worked as a machinist at Kimberly Clark for 38 years, retiring in 1986. Bill had a true passion for gardening, but most of all, he was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Appleton Legion Post #38 and a member at St. Bernard Catholic Church.

    Papa will be missed by his loving wife, Bernice, Menasha; daughter, Connie (Mike) Collins, Appleton; 3 sons: William (Cindy) Nack, Hartland, WI, Gary Nack, Wahpton, ND, and Jeffery Nack, Appleton; 9 grandchildren: Jill, Aaron (Hillary), Beth (Randall), Patti (Ben), Jamie (Tania), Joel (Sarah), Kim (Scott), Josh (Jill), and Courtney; 19 great grandchildren: Samantha, Dillon, Matt, Sam, Seth, Elizabeth, Lilie, Spencer, Lucie, Rory, Aubrey, Liam, Teagan, Ellie, Emily, Connor, William L., Caden, and Molly; daughter-in-law, Gwen; and sister-in-law, Julitta Schwalbach, Menasha. He is further survived by his nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, and brother-in-law, Robert Schwalbach.

    The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11 am on Friday, August 29, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., with Father Dennis Ryan officiating, followed immediately by full military honors performed by Appleton Legion Post #38. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the 5th floor at Theda Clark Hospital for their compassionate care given to "Papa".

    William J. Nack "Papa", age 90, of Menasha, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Theda Clark Medical Center. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 29, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton. Friends may visit at the church Friday from 9 am until the time of service.     Age 78, passed away Saturday evening following a brief illness. He was born July 19, 1896 in Appleton and had been a resident of the area all his life. He retired from Kimberly-Clark in 1961 and was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. John Catholich church. Mr. Spielbauer served with the U.S. Navy during World War I. Survivors include two daughters, Sr. Mary Lee, Fond du Lac, and Mrs. James (Carol) Konetzke, Menasha; seven sons, Edgar, Richard, Robert, and Le Roy, all of Menasha, DOnald, Kaukauna, Noman and Marvin, Neenah; two brothers, Jerome, Neenah, and Gayhart, Appleton; two sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Jacobs, Neenah and Mrs. Cele Syring, Menasha; 29 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Laemmrich Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. from St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Watry officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday where there will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. .
