  • Note: Dolores Vanden Oever, age 77, of Kimberly, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home. She was born on May 10, 1934 in Combined Locks, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Jusko) Menting. On April 12, 1955, she married Richard Vanden Oever at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks. Dolores was involved in the restaurant business at the Village Inn, the Kimberly Mill and then McDonalds. Over the years, she enjoyed the cottage in Woodruff, the Packers and Brewers and was an amazing seamstress.

    Dolores is survived by her sons: Rick (Nancy) Vanden Oever, Kaukauna; John (Amy) Vanden Oever, Kimberly; daughters: Jean (Randy) Hermes, Kimberly and Barbara Smith, Green Bay; five grandchildren: Robert Schmelzer, Georgia; John Vanden Oever, Jr. Eric Vanden Oever and Dakota Hermes, all of Kimberly and Chris Brown, West Virginia; two great grandchildren; sister: Shirley Van Berkel, Combined Locks and brother-in-law: Ken (Carol) Gutowski, Appleton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Vanden Oever; sister: Elaine Gutowski; brother: Dennis Menting and brother-in-law: George Van Berkel.

    The funeral liturgy for Dolores will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 20, 2012 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

  • Note: Mrs. Gerald (Dorothy) Smith N5130 County E De Pere Age 72, passed away early Monday morning, June 7, 1999, at home with her family after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of late Emil and Pauline (Meulemans) Green was born November 10, 1926, in the Town of Freedom. Dorothy married Gerald Smith on May 20, 1948, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Freedom. Mrs. Smith worked at Zaug's Vending Company in Appleton for 22 years. She was an avid golfer, a great Packer Fan and a terrific cook. Dorothy enjoyed going to Church and was an active Christian. Survivors include her husband and four children, Kenneth (Julane) Smith, Freedom Paulene (Jack) Van Asten, Freedom Randall (Nancy) Smith, Freedom, and Mary Lou (Greg) Jahnke, Kaukauna 11 grandchildren, Adam, Joseph, and Daniel Smith Aaron, Krystal, and Brandon Van Asten Nicholas, Ashley, and Kylie Smith Tierra and Chantel Jahnke two brothers, Elmer Green, Wrightstown, and Orville Green, King, Wisconsin a sister, Helen Ambrosius, Green Bay. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.     Gerald R. Smith, 82, Freedom, passed away on Friday morning August 21, 2009, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. He was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Outagamie County to the late Earl and Ella (Murphy) Smith. On May 20, 1948, he married Dorothy Green, and she preceded him in death in 1999. Gerald farmed all his life. He enjoyed hunting, woodcarving, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

    He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Julane) Smith, Freedom, Paulene (Jack) Van Asten, Freedom, Randall (Nancy) Smith, Freedom, and Mary Lou (Greg) Jahnke, Appleton. He is further survived by his 11 grandchildren, Adam (Katie), Joseph, Daniel, Aaron (Jaime), Krystal (Garrett), Brandon, Nicholas (Nikki), Ashley, Kylie, Tierra, and Chantel, as well as three great grandchildren, Gavin, Owen, and Marlee. Gerald is also survived by his siblings, Eunice (Bob) Romenesko, Mary Ellen Kavanaugh, and Mike (Donna) Smith.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his grandson, Randall Jr.; as well as his two sisters, Gen Ziegler, and Valeria Huss.

    Friends may call after 9am Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Fr. Dave Hoffman and Deacon Don Newhouse officiating. Burial to follow immediately after Mass at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Oneida.
