    Age 86, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at home. Tony was born April 14, 1916 to the late John and Marie (VanderLinden) Braun in Trenton, WI. He married the former Virginia Vice on June 14, 1943 in St. Louis, MO; she survived him. Tony served in the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1943. Tony enjoys riding on his scooter, sitting on his front porch with his faithful companion, Missy B. listening to his police scanner and buying lottery tickets. In his younger days, Tony enjoyed camping and the time he spent at Pineland Park in Wild Rose. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his son, James R. (Betty) Braun; three daughters, Jacque Lynn (Butch Henke) Baker, Becky Braun and Jane (Greg) Holcomb. He will also be greatly missed by eight grandchildren, Sandra (James) Starr and their children, Bradley and Phillip; Pat (Barb Schisel) Baker and his daughter, Holly; Scott (Theresa Schmidt) Baker; Tracey (Tim “Woody”) Hooyman and Munchy; Shelby (Brian) Hartzheim and their children Trevor and Jordan; Travis (Cristy) Hartzheim and their children, Austin and baby on the way; BreAnn Holcomb and Cody Lloyd Holcomb; one brother, Wally (Carloline) Braun; three ex son in laws, Melvin Baker, Art Hartzheim and Jeff Schanke; three brothers in law, Jack (Shirley) McDowell Art (Diane) Klemp and James Vice; three sisters in law, Ethel (Tom) Martin, Esther (Rev. Herbert) Lichtenberg Edith (Wayne) Tietz and many nieces and nephews, a very good friend, Molly Krause and his faithful friend, Missy B. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl (Virginia) Braun; a brother in law, Irvin (Lee) Vice, close friend, Roy Krause, mother in law, Irene Kemp and a baby sister. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton with Rev. Ronald Szep officiating. Viewing and visitation will be MONDAY at the FUNERAL HOME from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on TUESDAY at the FUNERAL HOME from 10:00 AM until the time of service.     Braun, Virginia I. (Vice, Klemp) Virginia Irene Braun was born to eternal life, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the age of 85. She was born July 14, 1921, in Galesburg, Illinois, daughter of the late Earl Vice and Irene (Harbison) Vice Klemp. As a young woman, Virginia changed her maiden name from Vice to Klemp. She worked at many jobs during her life, including a toy factory, Quaker Dairy, and finally as a meter maid for the city of Appleton. A job related injuring forced her early retirement. In her adult life, Virginia and Lloyd lived in Appleton where they raised their children. Following their retirement, the couple resided at Pineland Park in Wild Rose, Kaukauna, and finally in Little Chute. Virginia enjoyed gardening, camping, knitting, playing cards, and feeding the many birds that came to her outside feeder. She loved to bake, and will always be remembered for her delicious apple dumplings. On September 13, 2002, her loving husband Lloyd passed away. All who knew her know how much she enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.

    Survivors include her children: James (Betty) Braun of Neenah; Jacque (Butch) Henke of Oshkosh; Becky Braun of Appleton; and Jane (Greg) Holcomb of Greenville; her grandchildren: Sandra (Jim) Starr, Patrick Baker, Scott Baker, Tracey (Woody) Hooyman, Shelby Hartzheim, Travis (Cristy) Hartzheim, BreAnn Holcomb, and Cody Holcomb; her great-grandchildren: Brad Starr, Phillip Starr, Holly Baker, Trevor Hartzheim, Jordan Hartzheim, Brett Hartzheim, Cadence Hartzheim, and Austin Nordheim. Virginia is further survived by her sisters: Doris (Sam) Lichtenstein of Long Beach, California; Ethel (Tom) Martin of Combined Locks; Esther (Herb) Lichtenberg of Milwaukee; Edith (Wayne) Tietz of New London; her brothers: Jack (Shirley) McDowell of Canton, Illinois; James Vice of Everett, Washington; a brother-in-law: Wally (Caroline) Braun of Appleton; a sister-in-law: Diana Klemp of Appleton; former sons-in-law: Mel Baker, Art Hartzheim, and Jeff Schanke; her very dear friends: Hazel Ognie, Dave and Neva Gendron, Roy Deering, and everyone who lives at Dutch Harbor Estates in Little Chute.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Earl (Eva) Vice; her mother, Irene (Arthur) Klemp; brothers: David Klemp, Irvin (Lee) Vice, and Arthur (Mildred) Klemp; her father and mother-in-law, John (Mamie) Braun; a brother-in-law, Carl (Virginia) Braun; a nephew, Ron Braun; a niece, Bonnie Surprise Braun; and very dear friends, Roy (Molly) Krause and their son Bruce, and Joyce Deering.

    The Christian Funeral for Virginia will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2006, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, with Rev. Ronald Szep of St. Luke Ev. Lutheran Church in Little Chute officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

    The family would like to thank the entire staff at Century Oaks as well as Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to Virginia. Thanks also to Dr. Elmer and his nurse Nancy for the loving and compassionate way they cared for both of our parents. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

  • Note: James Braun, age 70, of Neenah, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1944, to the late Lloyd and Virginia (Klemp) Braun. Jim retired from the U.S. Army and the POW MIA was always close to his heart. He served three tours in Vietnam. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, and the special times with his beloved dogs. We will all miss his great sense of humor, his generous heart, and his boisterous laugh. You will be missed Jim!

    Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betty Braun; brother, Stan (Lynda) King; sisters: Jacque (Butch) Henke, Becky Braun, and Jane (Greg) Holcomb; mother-in-law, Emma Potter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Larry (Verlea) Potter, Will (Barbara) Potter, Bonny Pennington, Kathy Mislinski, Penny (Jim) Bowen, Frank (Donna) Potter, and Karen Potter; and special friends, Winston Morris and Jeff Griffen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mel Potter, Sr. and brother-in-law, Mel Potter, Jr.

    The memorial service for Jim will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN CHAPEL with Rev. Herbert Lichtenberg officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
