  • Death: Cecilia Anna Schuh died on December 13, 2016, at age 90.
  • Note: Cecilia A. Smet, age 90, of Sherwood, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1926 to the late Fred and Catherine (Meulemans) Schuh. She married Joseph Smet on April 8, 1948 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, Wisconsin. Together Ceil and Joe operated their family dairy farm for the majority of their marriage.

    Ceil worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a candy striper before her marriage. After she married, she was a full-time devoted wife and mother. She lived her life giving to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren always knew that Grandma would have chocolate chip cookies and suckers when they arrived for visits. Ceil was known for always putting everyone's needs before her own.

    She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as the Saint Ann Society. She enjoyed her weekly Sherwood Ladies Bowling League, playing Sheepshead with friends and family, crocheting and needle point.

    Survivors include her husband, Joe; her children, Jane (Robert) Schaefer, Patricia (Dennis) Dakins, Sandra (David) Broeren and Joe (Laura) Smet; thirteen grandchildren, Kalla (Randy) Wirtz, Rob (Beth) Schaefer, Nicole (Brian) Kerrigan, Tara Dakins, Todd (Kelly) Dakins, Becky (special friend Chris Kraemer) VandenBoogaard, Jaren VandenBoogaard, Eric VandenBoogaard, Kami (Chad) Clink, Keli (special friend Kyle Olson) Broeren, Kristi Smet, Jake Smet, and Cassie (special friend Austin Dins) Smet; twelve great-grandchildren, Alex Wirtz, Maxton Wirtz, Christian Wirtz, Ella Wirtz, Norah Schaefer, Carah Schaefer, Kaitlyn Kerrigan, Carson Kerrigan, Ethan Rabideau, Even Rabideau, Kaleb Dakins and Khloe Dakins; son-in-law, Bryan VandenBoogaard; sister, Rita Tessen; brothers, James (Judy) Schuh and Ted Schuh; sister-in-law, Margaret Bowers and brothers-in-law, Clarence (Margaret) Smet, Francis Smet and Jerry Smith. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo VandenBoogaard, her in-laws, Peter (Katherine) Smet; sisters, Virginia Martin and Delores Smith; brothers, Harold Schuh and Richard Schuh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat Schuh, Betty Schuh, Shirley Schuh, Bud Schlimm, Katie Schlimm, John Wallace, Josie Wallace, Norman Bowers, Marion Smet, Edward Smet, Lee Tessen, Germaine Smet and Joe Martin.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N 369 Military Road in Sherwood. Visitation will be held on Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ceil's name.     She was born April 25, 1927 in Freedom, WI to the late Fred and Katherine Meulemans Schuh. She married Joe Martin on May 13, 1948 at Freedom, WI. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2011. Virginia was a graduate of Freedom High School. She was an accomplished baker, including making wedding cakes for family and friends and ice cream pails of cookies for the grandchildren. She partnered with Joe in the operation of their dairy farm in the Town of Morrison. They enjoyed polka dancing with the "We Love to Dance Club" and after their retirement, traveled extensively throughout the United States.

    Virginia is survived by her children: Ron (Sue) Martin, Wausau; Fred (Dawn) Martin, Fort Mill, SC; Chuck (Jill) Martin, De Pere; Doris (Peter) DeBruin, Kaukauna; Larry (Janice) Martin, Fort Collins, CO; Don (Bonnie) Martin, Kaukauna; Bill (Terri) Martin, Francis Creek; Bev (Dale) Liebergen, Kaukauna; Barb (Rick) Kurth, Abrams; Ralph Martin, De Pere; Peggy (Randy) Nelson, Madison; 25 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; sisters: Rita Tessen and Ceil Smet; brothers: Jim Schuh and Ted Schuh; sisters-in-law: Judy Schuh and Shirley Schuh; brothers-in-law: Joe Smet and Gerry Smith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dick Schuh and Harry Schuh; one sister, Dee Smith; one brother-in-law, Lee Tessen and two sisters-in-law: Betty Schuh and Pat Schuh.

    Friends may call on Saturday August 22, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. Clare's Catholic Church - St. Patrick's site (7815 St. Pat's Church Road, Askeaton. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 a.m. at the church with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Morrison.

  • Note: Dolores "Dee" Smith (Schuh), age 73, of Arbor Vitae, passed away at her home in the beautiful northwoods on Friday, April 15 surrounded by her loving family. Dee was born on November 28, 1937, in Freedom (Appleton), Wisconsin, to Fred and Catharine (Meulemans) Schuh. She married Gerry (Gerald) Smith on August 17, 1957, and they settled in Wausau to raise their family. They retired to their beautiful cabin in the northwoods in 1991 where they enjoyed twenty wonderful years surrounded by nature, enjoying gardening, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. Their passion for nature also led them on many travels throughout the United States in their camper. Dee treasured the simple joys of life: nature, flowers, snowflakes, sunsets, children and time spent with family and friends.

    Dee is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Gerry, her five children - Lisa (Keith) Fenhaus of Plymouth, MN; Linda (Valen) Brost of Grass Valley, CA; Laura (Paul) Martin of Wausau; Jeff (Kris) Smith of Victoria, MN; and Greg (Teri) Smith of Madison; her siblings - Rita Tessen, Cecilia Smet, Virginia Martin, James Schuh and Theodore Schuh; her grandchildren - Bethany and Brent Fenhaus; Flene (Butler), Zarik, Jesic, Stara, Mriah and Rlija Brost; Sarah and Adam Martin; Megan and Katelyn Smith; and Sabrina, Lukas and Katy Smith, and her great-grandchildren - Hailey and Brandon Butler; Micah, Urijah, and Ezekiah Brost.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Richard and Harold Schuh, and her cherished granddaughter, Allison Smith.

    Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 8950 County Road J, Woodruff, Wisconsin, 54568 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and will be followed by an outdoor prayer service at 11 a.m. In her memory, she would prefer that you plant flowers or give some flowers to someone.   • Death: Joseph James Smet died on March 18, 2017, at age 92.
  • Note: Joseph J. Smet, 92, of Sherwood passed away on Saturday March 18, 2017. Joe was born on June 17, 1924 the son of Peter and Katherine (DeBuekler) Smet. He married Cecilia Schuh on April 8, 1949 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, and enjoyed 68 wonderful years of marriage together. Joe was raised on the family farm on the north side of Kaukauna, and learned a good work ethic at an early age. He and his family lived through the great depression and knew what it was like to go without. After he married, he bought his own milk truck and hauled milk from dairy farms to the milk factory. Joe later bought a small farm in Greenleaf where he farmed for a few years. He then bought land and settled in Sherwood where he built his home and barn and spent his life running his dairy farm. It was there that Joe and Ceil built their life and raised their family. Joe knew what hard work was and provided a good life for his family.

    Joe had a strong faith. He belonged to Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. He had some bumps in the road, when he lost the barn he built to a fire, and had to pick up the pieces and rebuild. Years later, a tornado ripped through his yard and again he picked up the pieces and continued with life. Joe never gave up. Playing sheepshead with family, friends and relatives was a favorite pastime for Joe. He enjoyed going out to eat and having an old-fashioned. He loved woodworking and made many beautiful things throughout the years. Joe and Ceil enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with Nationwide Travelers after his retirement. Joe was a wonderful father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

    Joe is survived by his children; Jane (Robert) Schaefer, Patricia (Dennis) Dakins, Sandra (David) Broeren and Joe (Laura) Smet. Son-in-law, Bryan Vandenboogaard. 13 grandchildren; Kalla (Randy) Wirtz, Rob (Beth) Schaefer, Nicole (Brian) Kerrigan, Tara Dakins, Todd (Kelly) Dakins, Becky (special friend Chris Kraemer) VandenBoogaard, Jaren VandenBoogaard, Eric VandenBoogaard, Kami (Chad) Clink, Keli (special friend Kyle Olson) Broeren, Kristi Smet, Jake Smet, and Cassie (special friend Austin Dins) Smet; 12 great-grandchildren, Alex Wirtz, Maxton Wirtz, Christian Wirtz, Ella Wirtz, Norah Schaefer, Carah Schaefer, Kaitlyn Kerrigan, Carson Kerrigan, Ethan Rabideau, Evan Rabideau, Kaleb Dakins and Khloe Dakins; a sister Margaret Bowers, and brothers Clarence (Margaret) Smet and Francis Smet, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; James Schuh, Ted Shuh, Jerry Smith and Rita Tessen.

    Joe was preceded in death by his wife Ceil in December of 2016. A daughter, Mary Jo VandenBoogaard. His parents Peter and Katherine Smet, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Fred and Catherine Schuh, sisters; Katie Schlimn, Josie Wallace, Marion Smet, brother; Edward Smet, brothers-in-law; Bud Schlimn, John Wallace, Morman Bowers, Joe Martin, Harold Schuh, Richard Schuh, sisters-in-law; Virginia Martin, Delores Smith, Pat Schuh, Betty Schuh, Shirley Schuh, Judy Schuh and Germaine Smet.

    The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N 369 Military Road in Sherwood. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

  • Death: Joseph Earl Martin died on March 16, 2011, at age 87, in Greenleaf, Brown Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Joseph (Joe) Martin, 87, Greenleaf, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his home. He was born April 2, 1923, in the Town of Morrison, to the late John and Claire (Snyder) Martin. He married Virginia Schuh on May 13, 1948, at Freedom, Wisconsin. Joe was a graduate of Wrightstown High School. During WWII, Joe served his country in the South Pacific as a Corporal with the U.S. Air Force. He was a dairy farmer and after retirement he became a hobby woodworker. Joe was especially skilled in scroll saw artwork. Joe and Virginia enjoyed dancing with the "We Love to Dance Polka Club." He was a member of the Urban Klister Post 436 American Legion of Wrightstown, member of the Morrison Fire Department and a member of the Woodworkers Guild. It was Joe's request that his body will be donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin for medical research.

    Survivors include his wife, Virginia; his children: Ron (Sue) Martin, Wausau; Fred (Dawn) Martin, Rocky Mount, NC; Chuck (Jill) Martin, De Pere; Doris (Peter) DeBruin, Kaukauna; Larry (Janice) Martin, Fort Collins, CO; Don (Bonnie) Martin, Kaukauna; Bill Martin, Whitelaw; Bev (Dale) Liebergen, Greenleaf; Barb (Rick) Kurth, Abrams; Ralph Martin, De Pere; Peggy (Randy) Nelson, Madison; 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

    He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert and two sisters, Rita and Arlene.

    Friends may call on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m at St. Clare's Catholic Church (St. Patrick's Site) 7815 St. Pat's Church Road, Askeaton, with Father Al Geiser officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Urban Klister Post #436 American Legion of Wrightstown.

She graduated from St. John High School in Little Chute, and then was employed at a law office and HC Prange Co. in Appleton. She married James F. Schuh on October 15, 1949 at St. John's Church in Little Chute, and they shared 67 years together while raising seven children. Volunteering played a large part in her life - at the school, church, visiting the elderly, and at the food pantry in Little Chute. She also enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and shopping. She was considered by her family as the "Coupon Queen."

    Julia is survived by her husband, James F. Schuh, Kaukauna; five children: Gary Schuh, William (Mary Jo) Schuh, James M. (Yvonne "Buff") Schuh, all of Kaukauna; Mike (Cheryl) Schuh of Appleton; Jeff (Lynn) Schuh of Mackville; sons-in-law: Charlie Janssen of Appleton, and Terry Schuh of Freedom; 18 grandchildren: Brian Janssen, Amanda (John) Borleske, Tim (Brenda) Schuh, Sarah (Niels) Quist, Jenny Schuh, Bill (Kari) Schuh, Dan (Alissa) Schuh, Chris (Josh) Minzlaff, Kevin (Krystal) Schuh, Chad (Alison) Schuh, Tammy (Brian) Renaud, Stephanie (Joe) McHugh, Todd Schuh, Kerri Schuh, Kayla Schuh, Leigh (Brett) Bogenschutz, Kelly Schuh, and Eric Schuh; 16 great grandchildren; siblings: Robert (Aurella) Coenen and Shirley Carlson; sister-in-law: Rita Tessen; brothers-in-law: Ted Schuh, Joe Smet and Jerry Smith; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Dave was born in Escanaba MI., on June 25, 1956 the son of Francis L. and Geraldine E. Bink Guay. He married Gail VanOudenhoven on June 18, 1983 in St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Neenah. Dave received a Journeyman Tool & Die Engineering Degree and was employed as a CNC Programmer at Mid Valley Industries. Over the years Gator was a Volunteer Fire Fighter at many different village and township Fire Departments. Dave was catholic by faith. He loved all sports but his passion was playing basketball. He was a family man. Dave and Gail would drive thousands of miles to watch their daughters play college ball. He always cherished time with his grandchildren. Dave was married to his sweetheart Gail for thirty-four years. Dave had a contagious smile and loving heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand.

    Dave is survived by his wife Gail Guay, of Omro, two daughters; Chelsey (Corey Giordana) Guay, Kaukauna, Jenna (Tom) Fendryk, Waukesha, three grandchildren; Cole, Isla, Brock, his mother; Geraldine E. Guay, three brothers; Terry (Kathy) Guay, FL., Charles (Sally) Guay, FL., Anthony (Leenette) Guay, Appleton and sister; Mary (John) Anthony, Escanaba, MI. Dave is further survived by dog Harley, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his father; Francis L. Guay, and father-in-law; Eugene W. VanOudenhoven.

    A Christian mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 AM in St. Raphael Catholic Church (830 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh) with the Rev. Matthew Rappl officiating. Family and friends may visit at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh) on Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
