  • Note: Richard Peter (Dick) Verbeten, 82, died July 3, 2016 in Winter Garden, FL. He fought a long battle with a Degenerative Vascular disease. He retired from Isleworth Golf and Country Club, in Windermere, FL, where he worked as a Golf Course Superintendent for Mr. Arnold Palmer. Dick was a treasure to his family and to all who knew him.

    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Vanderheiden Verbeten; son, Mark (Jean); daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Strenski; son, Gregg (Chris); daughter, Susan (Tracy) and son, John (Pam), all residing in WI; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; also one sister, Gretchen Hornung Price of Fond du Lac.

    Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Susan Verbeten; sister, Rosanne Van Ryzin; brother, Francis Verbeten and sister, Julienne Rusch.

    Family and friends may visit at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church-Humboldt, 5930 Humboldt Rd., Luxemburg, from 9:30-10:45AM Friday, July 15, 2016.     Dolan, Thomas J.


    Thomas Joseph Dolan, age 80, of Combined Locks, passed away Thursday morning, July 16, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. Thomas was born April 23, 1929 in Oshkosh, to the late Thomas K. and Mary (Hubertus) Dolan. On October 18, 1986, he was united in marriage to Doris A. Peerenboom. He was formerly married to Marie Maloney-Dolan, she preceded him in death on August 28th, 1983. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and employed as a diesel mechanic at Olson Trucking in Appleton and then CW Transport of Kaukauna until his retirement. He was also a bartender at the Darboy Club for many years. During his life, he vacationed in Tomahawk where he loved to teach his children to water ski. He loved to golf, play cribbage, go to movies, travel to Florida each winter, dress up with friends for Halloween, watch the Brewers and most recently ride his jazzy to church and across the street to watch baseball. If you needed a good laugh, you would have Tommy tell you a joke. He had many. He was the most selfless man anyone could have known and he loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dear wife very much.

    In addition to his wife, Doris, Thomas is survived by his eight children: Pat (Debra) Dolan, Dennis Dolan, Kevin (Michelle) Dolan, Sean (Christine) Dolan, Maureen (Chris) Stoffel, Colleen (Tom) Schuelke, Eileen Dolan (special friend Roy) and Shannon (Kevin) Pomeroy; four stepchildren: Tim (Norma) Peerenboom, Michael (Julie) Peerenboom, Paula (Paul) Grenier, and Jennifer (Steve) Chamberlain; 24 grandchildren ; six great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law: Janet (Richard) Verbeten, Carol (Gene) Stuyvenberg; Laurie (Jeff) Vander Velden, Rita Malchow, Barbara Vander heiden, Mary Ann Hoeft, MaryJo Maloney; a brother-in-law, Tom Maloney; many other relatives and friends.

    Thomas was preceded in death by his two daughters: Terry Ann and Mary Dolan; his brother, Roger K. Dolan, and sister-in-law, Carole Dolan.

    A Memorial Service for Thomas will be held 5 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks. Fr. Jim Lucas will be officiating along with Fr. Bob Vandenberg and Deacon Dan Viertel concelebrating. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

    The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Care At Home for all of their wonderful care and support. Every minute of life is a gift and God has given Doris and I just enough time to find our love and know we belonged together. Love, Tom

  • Birth: Gene M Flegal was born on January 25, 1954.
  • Death: He died on May 1, 2015, at age 61.
  • Note: Gene M. Flegal, age 61, of Seymour, passed away Friday morning, May 1, 2015 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. He was born January 25, 1954, son of Roger and Beatrice (Hall) Flegal.
    Following graduation from Wabeno High School in 1972, Gene enlisted in the US Army.
    He married Cindy Bailey and she preceded him in death on August 27, 1996.
    Gene worked for Van Handel's for over 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic/foreman. He was very proud of his work and was known throughout the Fox Valley for his expertise.
    Gene had a great love for the outdoors. He was passionate about camping, hunting, racing, football, snowmobiling, and loved fishing with family and friends in Northern Wisconsin and Canada. In addition, he worked on the safety crew at Wisconsin International Raceway and the Wabeno Fire Department.
    Gene is survived by his daughter, Theresa Flegal, Neenah; son, David Flegal, Freedom; grandchildren: Camdon and Addison Flegal; parents, Roger and Beatrice Flegal, Wabeno; brothers, Blaine (Cheryl) Flegal, Winchester; Ronald Flegal, Neenah; sisters: Diane (Bob) James, Denver, CO; Suann (Brian) Piontek, Chadron, NE; significant other, Tamela "TJ", Darboy. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lester and Naomi Flegal, Joe and Nellie Hall; father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Florence Mandel.
    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 3:30 pm until the funeral service at 6:30 pm with Pastor Lee Jennings officiating. Inurnment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wabeno at a later date.
