    Edward Martin Vander Heiden, 96, formerly of 1302 Franklin St., De Pere. Ed was born Nov. 24 , 1906, in De Pere, the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Coenen) Vander Heiden. He attende d St Paul’s and Sniderville schools in Wrightstown. Ed was employed by Broadway Garage, Gree n Bay Auto Parts, the City of De Pere, and retired from C.A. Lawton in 1972. On Sept. 29, 193 1, he married Melvina Meulemans at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown and the couple enj oyed over 66 years together. Melvina preceded Ed in death on Sept. 13, 1998. Ed was a membe r of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was an usher for over 60 years. He was a member of th e Catholic Knights, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Mary Holy Name Society, and the Internat ional Association of Machinist. Ed was a kind, gentle and generous man. Ed could fix almost a nything and took great pride in repairing many cars and lawn mowers for friends and relatives . He picked many raspberries, plums and cleaned and shared many hickory nuts. He enjoyed play ing Sheephead, gardening, and sharing his vegetables with others.

    Ed is survived by a brother, Raymond (Rosella) Vander Heiden, Neenah; sister, Catherine Kortz , Kaukauna; sister-in-law, Mary Vander Heiden, Kaukauna; special nieces and nephews, Laura an d Jim Kessler, Carol and Lee Kortz, Richard Vander Heiden; and numerous nieces and nephews; s pecial cousins, Don and Mary Jane Van Remortel and Marie Albers.

    Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Melvina; his parents; brothers, Francis, Richard, Leo ; brother-in-law, Kirby Kortz; and sister-in-law, Anne Vander Heiden.

    Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Frida y Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m . Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle off Sportsman Dr., Town o f Ledgeview, Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John H. Ha rper officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Community, De Pere.

    Ed’s family is deeply grateful for the care and love given to Ed at the Renaissance, De Pere , and would also like to thank Dr. Asma, Fr Jack Harper, Kathy De Noble and the many people w ho cared about Ed and visited him over the many years.

  • Note: James Van Deurzen 708 Park Ave., Little Chute Age 79, died unexpectedly at home on December 26, 1999. He was born on August 11, 1920, in Combined Locks, the son of the late John and Ann (Van Dalen) Van Deurzen. He married Dorothy Vander Wyst on August 6, 1949, in Little Chute, and recently celebrated 50 years together. Jim was employed at Appleton Papers Combined Locks Mill for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving with Company D, 127th Infantry, Red Arrow Division, and was also a member of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post 258. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy three daughters, Nancy (Glenn) Romenesko, Ann (Dale) Romenesko, Little Chute Ellen (Bob) DeCoster, Kaukauna a son, Jay (Tammy) Van Deurzen, Darboy eight very special grandchildren, Cory and Jason Romenesko, Mandy, Shane and Jake Romenesko, Adam Doell, and Brock and Brady Van Deurzen. He is further survived by a sister, Marilyn (Ray) Staudt, Manitowoc seven sisters-in-law, Jeanette Van Deurzen, Jeri Van Deurzen, Joan (Dave) Kielgas, Margaret (Ray) Vandenberg, Bernice (Pat) Blohm, Betty Vander Wyst, and Carol Vander Wyst. He is also survived by a special cousin, Marvin Van Deurzen, Manitowoc and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ann (Van Dalen) Van Deurzen and John and Frances Vander Wyst five brothers, Bob, John, Paul, Eugene, and Irvin Van Deurzen three sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Junk, Agnes Stadler and Alice (Bob) Staudt three brothers-in-law, Joe, Rich and Butter Vander Wyst a sister-in-law, Betty Nackers. Funeral services will be held at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute, on Wednesday, December 29, 1999, with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by the Mass of the Resurrection.   • Note: Dorothy J. "Dort" Van Deurzen, 87, Little Chute, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 2, 2015. She was born on August 11, 1927, daughter of the late John and Frances (Verkuilen) Vander Wyst. She married James Van Deurzen on August 6, 1949, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1999.

    Dort loved the Brewers, and that's an understatement. She enjoyed watching, listening or attending the games. She also was an avid Packer fan, talented seamstress and enjoyed puzzles. If Dort found out when your birthday was, she would never forget it. She enjoyed her Oneida trips to play "her" penny machine. Dort was an extremely special person, and truly will be missed.

    Survivors include her three daughters: Nancy (Glenn) Romenesko, Little Chute; Ann (Dale) Romenesko, Little Chute; Ellen (Bob) De Coster, Kaukauna; her son, Jay (Tammy) Van Deurzen, Darboy; eight very special grandchildren: Cory and Jason (Erin) Romenesko, Mandy (Bryan) Rusch, Shane, and Jake (Kathy) Romenesko, Adam Doell, Brock and Brady Van Deurzen; four precious great-grandchildren: Jackson, Weston, Alexis and Chloe; a sister, Bernice Blohm; sisters-in-law: Betty Vander Wyst, Carol Vander Wyst, Jeanette Van Deurzen, Joan Kielgas and Marilyn (Ray) Staudt; a longtime friend, Laverne Brys; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

    Dort was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, John and Frances; siblings: Margaret (Ray) Vandenberg, Richard Vander Wyst, Butter Vander Wyst and Joseph (Betty) Vander Wyst; brothers and sisters-in-law: Patrick Blohm, Robert, John, Paul, Eugene and Irvin Van Deurzen, Evelyn Junk, Agnes Stadler and Alice Staudt; and special friend, Betty Brys.

    Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
