  • Note: Frank Riesterer, 71, of R. 4, Chilton, a Chilton area farm implements dealer, died unexpectedly this morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton following an apparent heart attack.

    Born November 15, 1896 in the Town of Eaton, he was the son of the late John and Rose Anhalt Riesterer. On July 27, 1937 he married Mary Rolf in the Town of Holland.

    Mr. Riesterer was a partner in the Riesterer and Schnell Farm Implement Dealers firm at the intersection of Highways 32 and 151.

    Mr. Riesterer was a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, and the Holy Name Society of the parish.

    Survivors include his wife; two sons; Kenneth of r. 1, Kiel; and Michael at home; one daughter; Mrs. Leonard (Gladys) Brunner of R. 1, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; six brothers; Peter and Joseph of st. Nazianz; Anton, Steve and Herman of R. 1, Kiel; and John of R. 4, Chilton; two sisters; Mrs. John Schnell and Mrs. Joseph Schnell, both of St. Nazianz.

    Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

    A requiem Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, with the REv. Gregory utzer, S.D.s., as celebrant following brief family rites at the Christianson Funeral Home, St. Nazianz. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday. A parish rosary will be said there at 8 p.m. Friday.

  • Note: E. Rita DeGroot, 70, Morgan, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, at a Green Bay hospital, following a lengthy battle with health issues.

    The daughter of Vence and Eleanor (Campbell) Mikula was born October 19, 1946, in Traverse City, MI and studied nursing at NWTC in Green Bay. Rita married Joseph John DeGroot, Sr. on July 16, 1966, at St. Joseph Church in Green Bay. She worked as an LPN for many years at Sharpe Care Nursing Home in Oconto Falls, until health problems prevented her from working. She was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Pulaski and had also enjoyed being a member of the Oconto Falls Chatty Hatters Society for many years.

    Rita loved spending time with her family, gardening, bowling, feeding her cats, and sitting on the patio, enjoying the simple pleasures of the outdoors and wildlife. She also enjoyed target shooting and the annual summer tomahawk throws.

    Survivors include her children: Joe (Karen Gilligan) DeGroot, Spruce, Laura (Bill) Coppernoll, West Salem, Stephen (Barb Platten) DeGroot, Morgan, Justin DeGroot, Rapid River, MI, and Josh (Sarah) DeGroot, Morgan; grandchildren: William, Nicholas, Katherine, Teresa, Abigail, Sarah, Vincent, and Isaac Coppernoll, all of West Salem, Alexandra DeGroot, Pulaski, Lucille and Jack DeGroot, Rapid River, MI, and Daxton DeGroot, Morgan; her siblings: Mike (Jeanne) Mikula, OK, Joe (Vicky) Mikula, MI, and Tony (Tammy) Mikula, Oconto Falls; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, on May 21, 1993, her parents, and one brother, Bill Mikula.

    Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, with a closing prayer service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation continues after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Cemetery, Oconto Falls.

Jayne had many interests, among them were shopping and sharing Holiday Meals with family. She had a strong faith and attended St. Philips Catholic Church. Jayne loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She had an excellent memory and could contribute to family history better than anyone.

    Jayne is survived by her loving family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her Parents Richard and Gladys Foley, one sister Catherine.

    In honor of Jayne's wishes a gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church 312 Victoria Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating. Burial will be on the family lot at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
