F, b. May 6, 1931, d. April 25, 2014

Family: Norman Gilbert Roskom (b. May 2, 1929, d. March 25, 2011)

Biography

  • Birth: Joan M Falevsky was born on May 6, 1931.
  • Marriage: She and Norman Gilbert Roskom were married on November 11, 1950 in Green Bay, Brown Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: Joan M Falevsky died on April 25, 2014, at age 82, in Abrams, Oconto Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Joan M. Roskom, 83, Abrams, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, due to complications of kidney failure. She was born on May 6, 1931, to Roland and Eva (Baeb) Falevsky. On November 11, 1950, Joan married Norman Roskom at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. Together they had two boys, Peter and Jeff. When the boys were young, Joan helped with school events. She also helped with the Abrams Family Day Fund Raiser for the fire department and worked the voting booths. Years ago, Joan enjoyed shopping with her mom, aunt and sisters every Tuesday, usually followed by lunch at Eve's Supper Club or another place that had a coupon or other lunch special. If there was a sale, she would find it and rarely walk out empty handed. Joan enjoyed time at her parents' cabin and family reunions at Bay Beach. She also enjoyed going to Door County with Jody. She loved the water and the beauty of the area. When you saw Joan's yard you could easily see her love for flowers and birds. She could grow anything and the birds loved the treats she had for them throughout the yard. Norm teased her that they ran into town more for bird food than their own food. But her true passion was genealogy and it all started over a conversion. Someone told her a story about a distant relative; Joan didn't believe the story and set out to prove her side of the story . . . . The rest is history, she was hooked. Joan's mind was like a card catalog and she knew in an instant without looking anything up where a certain relative was within the lineage. She would be working on three or four family trees at one time with no problem keeping them straight. She was driven to get to the next cemetery to find the next generation. Her rush to get to the next location was often met by "What is your hurry? They aren't going anywhere". To which she would roll her eyes and off they would go.Survivors include her sons, Peter (Debi) and Jeffrey (Jody); grandchildren, Jason Roskom, Sarah (Adam) Paulsen, Kylee Roskom; great-grandchildren, Madison and Adalyn; two sisters, Judy (Carl) Bernetzke and Donna Piotrzkowski. Joan is further survived by nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Norm; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Falevsky; sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Bob Steeno; and brother-in-law, Hank Piotrzkowski.Friends may call at Green Bay Community Church, 600 Cardinal Lane, Howard, WI from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015.
