George Mayer

    George G. Mayer, of Glenbeulah, died of a three weeks' illness at Plymouth Hospital Thursday. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Mayer, he was born Oct. 4, 1899 in the town of Rhine. He farmed in the Towns of Rhine and Schleswig, then lived in Kiel before moving to Glenbeulah. For the past 10 years he had been employed by the Borden Co. in Plymouth. He married Mrs. Dorothy Glaubig Feb. 16, 1957.
    Surviving are his wife, and the couple's son, Roger, 3 at home; five children by a previous marriage, a son, Carl, Kiel, and four daughters, Mrs. Ralph Klemme, Mrs. Robert Lindeman, Mrs. Leroy Woelfel, Kiel, and Mrs. Donald Klemme, town of Schleswig, Town of Schleswig; four stepdaughters, the Misses Shirley Glaubig, Fond du Lac, June and Jane Glaubig, Oshkosh, and Esther Glaubig, Neenah; two step-sons, James Glaubig, Ripon and Carl Glaubig, Menasha, and 18 grandchildren.
    He also leaves four brothers, Melvin Mayer, Elkhart Lake, Elmer, Sheboygan, Ervin, town of Lima, and Harvey, Manitowoc, and a sister, Mrs. Elmer Anhalt, town of Schleswig. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
    Services will be at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. Lowell Ferguson, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, Plymouth. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

    PIONEER OF HERMAN DIED THURSDAY
    Henry Boeldt, aged 88 years, 4 months and 17 days, died at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his home in the town of Herman. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Allschwager, town of Herman, Rev. Mr. Voit of that place, officiating. Mr. Boeldt is survived by several children.

    Miss Boeldt was born in the town of Plymouth, June 16th, 1858, reaching an age of 60 years, 3 months and 20 days. In her childhood days the parents removed to the town of Herman on the same homestead where she died; she has lived there ever since. The deceased was an invalid all her life.

    She is survived by two sisters, namely; Mrs. Augusta Hasche, near Chilton and Mrs. Fred. Altschwager of the town of Herman where she lived. Mr. John Boeldt St., a brother, preceded her in death some eight months ago.

    The funeral took place Wednesday Rev. O. E. Schmidt officiating.

    Mrs. Marie Altschwager, 82, widow of Fred Altschwager, passed away this morning after a short illness at her home in town Herman, a mile north of Howards Grove on County Trunk FF. Mrs. Altschwager was born in town Plymouth on September 15, 1860, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boeldt and as a young girl attended the district schools. She was married to Fred Altschwager on March 29, 1885, at the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church at Howards Grove. She resided at the present farm homestead since she was two years of age. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and devoted all her time to her family and home. She was a member of the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church all her life.
    Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Anna) Widder of Kohler, Mrs. R. C. (Hulda) Pippert of Cleveland, Wis., Mrs. William (Meta) Athorp of town Mosel, and Mrs. Louis (Emma) Ahrens of Sheboygan; three sons, Otto of town Herman, Paul on the homestead and Dr. Edward of Tonica, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband passed away January 18, 1938, and a son Rudolph, aged 3 years, also preceded her in death.
    Funeral services will be held Sunday at the farm home and at the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church, the Rev. Walter Kitzerow officiating, and burial will be made in the family lot in the church cemetery.

Fred Altschwager

    Fred Altschwager, 79, died at his home in the town of Herman Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the home and at Trinity Lutheran church in the town of Herman. The Rev. W. J. Kitzerow will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
    He was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, on Oct. 1, 1858. At the age of 16 he came with his parents to this country and made his home in the town of Sheboygan Falls. On March 29, 1885, he was married to Miss Maria Boeldt and the couple took up their residence on the present farm in the town of Herman one mile north of Howards Grove. He had lived there almost 53 years. In 1935 he and his wife had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.
    Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Otto wider of Kohler, Mrs. R. C Pippert of Cleveland, Mrs. William Athorp of the town of Mosel, and Mrs. Louis Ahrens of Sheboygan; three sons, Otto of the town of Herman, Paul on the homestead farm and Dr Edwin of Tonica, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Kruse of Millersville and 14 grandchildren. One son, Rudolph preceded him in death at the age of 3.

    Died at his home in the town of Chilton on January 21, 1909, Henry Hasche, aged 50 years, 4 months and 12 days. For the second time, within a month, the grim reaper, Death, invaded the Hasche family. On Dec. 28th the oldest daughter passed away and now the husband and father is called to the world beyond the grave. Mr. Hasche was been ill for four months with kidney trouble and during that time bore his illness with true christian fortitude. Everything possible was done to prolong his life but to no avail and he died prepared to meet the loved one that had gone before.
    Henry Hasche was born in the town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Sept. 9, 1858. April 15, 1884 he was united in marriage to Augusta Boelt of the same town and shortly afterwards they moved to the town of Denmark, Brown County, and engaged in farming. They remained there until the spring of 1892 when they sold their farm and purchased another in the northern portion of the town of Chilton. He was a man of excellent qualities and soon won the respect of his new neighbors who recognized in him as good citizen and an honest, conscientious man. He was devoted to his wife and family, doing everything possible to make it pleasant for those in his home. His death is a severe blow to them and the community extends their deepest sympathy.
    The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, the remains being taken to the Lutheran church in Hilbert where services were conducted by Rev. Moelmer with interment in St. Peter's cemetery in the town of Woodville. A large delegation of relatives and friends escorted the remains to their final resting place. He is survived by a sorrowing wife, three sons, Martin, Walter, William, one daughter, Frieda, two brothers, Diedrich, of Spencer, Nebr., Fred of the town of Herman, three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Haarman of Howards Grove, Mrs. Herman Ehrlich of Chilton town and Mrs. Henry Poppe of Marion.

    Henry Roethel, aged 71, life-long resident of Town Meeme, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon at his home, after an illness of six months duration. Mr. Roethel suffered an apoplectic stroke on June 9, and several light strokes since that time. Another stroke on Friday morning, which resulted in his death, ended many months of suffering. Born in Town Meeme, May 15, 1861, Mr. Roethel attended the public schools there and later the parochial school in town Herman. He was confirmed on March 29, 1874 at the St. John's Evangelical church at Schwartzwald by the Rev. F. Moccke. Then together with his brother he conducted a cheese factory at Thiensville for several years, later operating his own factory at School Hill. In 1890 Mr. Roethel bought a farm which he owned and worked until 10 years ago, when he retired and sold it to his son, Oscar.
    Mr. Roethel was married to Miss Emma Boeldt, who passed away in February, 1895. He was then untied in marriage on Dec. 10, 1895 to Miss Eliese Schulz of town Herman.
    Besides his widow, Mr. Roethel is survived by the following children, Mrs. George Feldman, Mrs. Henry Mauck, Jr., town Herman; John of Batavia, George and Oscar of Meeme, Mrs. Norbert Grunewald of Howards Grove, Hugo of Oostburg, Reinhold of Meeme, Miss Hildegarde Roethel of Sheboygan and Arvin, at home. There are also fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers, George of Thiensville, Fred of Meeme and Christian of Schleswig, and his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Mathilda Schulz. One daughter died in 1899.
    The funeral will be held at the home and at St. John Evangelical church at Schwartzwald. The Rev. F Mohme will officiate and burial will be made in the St. John cemetery.

    He was born February 17, 1869 in town Herman and was married to Bertha Baarts for 16 years and besides his wife he is survived by four children; also his father and a brother John of town Herman; and the following sisters; Minna of town Herman, Mrs. Mary Altschwager of town Herman and Mrs. August Hasche of Chilton.

    The funeral is Thursday afternoon and burial is in the Howard Grove Cemetery with Pastor Voit officiating.

    George H. Pieper, life-long resident of Sheboygan county, died on Sunday, his seventieth birthday, at 11 a. m. at his home at Millersville, after a lingering illness. He was serving as school clerk at Millersville for the fortieth year.

    Mr. Pieper was born in Town Herman, near Millersville, July 23, 1863. His marriage to Sophia Bohlmann took place August 31, 1889, and the couple settled on a farm near Millersville. Mrs. Pieper died on February 4, 1899. Mr. Pieper remained on the farm until 1913, when he retired and moved to the village of Millersville. He was married again November 9, 1913, to Anna Sprenger.

    Mr. Pieper was well-acquainted in the county enjoying a large circle of friends. Besides being school clerk, he served as trustee of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Millersville for several years. He was a kind and loving father, greatly devoted to his family.

    Besides his wife, Mr. Pieper is survived by three sons, Arthur, on the homestead, Otto and Walter, Millersville; a daughter, Mrs. William Bohlmann, Millersville, and two step-sons, Fred and Arvin Sprenger, also of Millersville and twelve grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Pieper home at Millersville and at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church there. The Rev. Herman Kuether will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery. The body can be viewed from 4 p. m. today until the time of services.
