He was born November 29, 1954 in Fond du Lac, son of the late Roman L. & Dolores (Heimerl) Hoerth. Joey never married in life because he said he could never find anyone as charming and alluring as his sisters.

Earlier in his life, Joey operated Joey's Tap in Stockbridge. During his days in Stockbridge, he also volunteered with the Stockbridge Fire Department and sat on the Fireman Legion Park Board where he had served as Past President. He had been a member of the Harbor Fishing Club and tended to the ball diamond in Stockbridge for the Youth Baseball League.

Joey spent many years on Lake Winnebago Sturgeon Spearing, and although the sport was fun, Joey especially appreciated the camaraderie and the beer samplers the season brought on. In his free time, Joey collected beer paraphernalia and enjoyed cooking; he was especially fond of making home made salsa and baked beans for family and friends. He looked forward to spending time at his place in Wausaukee, especially trips to Bear Point with his friends.

Joey was a loving Uncle who looked for ways to have fun and make sure life wasn't taken too seriously. He had a big heart and looked out for those around him who maybe needed a helping hand. In recent years, he did a lot of volunteering for the Salvation Army and was tasked by Santa Claus to be one of his special helpers at Christmas Time. Those who knew Joey loved him and will miss him greatly.

Survivors include his sisters: Sue (Marty) Seckel, Mary Muellenbach and her partner, Sande Janagold, Alice Ruliffson, Janice (Skip) Olson, Ann (Rudy) Propson, Betty (Dick) Schumacher; a brother-in-law: Ron Muellenbach; and a great friend and neighbor: Julie Hemb. He is further survived by many nieces & nephews who were close to his heart, other relatives and friends.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law: Casey Ruliffson.

Funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stockbridge. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017.
