    Fifty years of wedded life were celebrated Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. James Ayers, well-known residents of this city. A dinner was served to the immediate family at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ayers, 830 Bell avenue. A large wedding cake decorated in gold formed the center-piece. Open house followed in the afternoon and evening at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sanders. Many gifts, floral bouquets and cards were presented to the couple.
    James Ayers was born Nov. 27, 1864 in Sheboygan county and has lived in this county for all but 15 years when he resided on a farm in Fond du Lac county. He was employed at the Garton Roy company for 27 years, serving as foreman for 20 of thos years. Mr. Ayers was united in marriage with Mrs. Ayers Oct. 8, 1880. Mrs. Ayers, the former Gertrude Juetten, was born Oct. 26, 1863.
    Eight children were born to them, three of whom have passed away. Thos who are living are: Mrs. Peter (Mary) Sanders, this city; Lawrence Ayers, this city; Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Welsch, Eden; Louis Ayers, Eden; Joseph Ayers, Bismark, N. Dak.
    Out-of-town guests at the celebration were: Mrs. Susan Ayers and daughters, Margaret and Sue Jane, Port Washington; Mrs. Nick Biever, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Aloy Ayers and children, Appleton; Mrs. Matthew Sanders, Miss Mary Sanders, William Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vande Loo and children, Jacob Clavers, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Weatherwax, Clarence Schleicher and Edwin Mergert, Sheboygan Falls; Mr. and Mrs. George Mooney and children, Frances Spartz and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lautenbach, Plymouth' Mr. and Mrs. John Schleicher, Watertown, and Harry Ayers, Belgium.

  • Note: James Ayers Is Buried On Monday After Last Rites
    Funeral services for James Ayers, who passed away Thursday at St. Nicholas hospital after being confined to his bed since he was injured in a fall in September of this year, were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Gerend Funeral home and at 1q0 a. m. with a requiem mass at Holy Name Church.
    Rt. Rev. Msgr. Philip Drets officiated at the church services and interment was made in family lot in Calvary cemetery. Rev. Edward Ziegler conducted the services at the grave.
    Pallbearers were Leo Ayers, Aloys Ayers, Robert Berger, Jr., Ralph Berger, Fred Heinzen and Joseph Sanders.
    Members of the Holy Name society of Holy Name church, of which the deceased was a member, held vigil Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
    Among those from away who attended the services were Mrs. Susan Ayers of Port Washington, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walsch and children, Mary Ann, Richard and Betty Jane, of Eden; a son, Joseph, of Watertwn, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Beaver of Milwaukee; Harry Ayers of Belgium; Jake Clavers, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Clavers, John and Roman Shaller, William and Mary Sanders, Leo Schlischer, all of Sheboygan Falls; Mr. and Mrs. William Heimann of Hayton, Wis.

    The Rev. Edward Ziegler had charge of services at the grave. Pall bearers were Peter Clevers, Jacob Clevers, Ralph Berger, Robert Berger, Jr., Granvill Ayers and Joseph Sanders.
    Out-of-town people at the rites were: Louis Ayers, Campbellsport; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walsh and family, Eden; Mrs. John Ayers, Port Washington; Mr. and Mrs. A. Ayers and family, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Van De Loo, Milwaukee; John Juetten, Clintonville; Mr. and Mrs. William Hermann, ?ay?on.
