Surviving Matt are his wife, Dianne Lowe, daughter, Catherine (Brandon) Smith, Shawano; step-daughters, Joyce (Rodney) Elertson, Shawano; Cindy (Keith) Zuleger, Navarino; Samantha VanderPoel, San Francisco, CA; and Tonya Lowe, Shawano; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, David (Sue) Clark, Shawano. He is preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law Tom Lowe. Matt will be missed by family and friends.

    Celebration of life for Matthew will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Backwood Pub and Grill on County Highway T in Townsend.   • Note: Carol J. Remter, age 82, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Century Oaks with her loving husband at her side. Carol was born in Appleton on March 26, 1934, to the late Edwin and Louise (Willenkamp) Bartz. She graduated with the class of 52 at Appleton High School. On June 11, 1953, Carol was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, William Remter at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Appleton. The couple were blessed with three children and celebrated their 63rd anniversary this year. Carol followed her husband's military career for over 21 years and formed many wonderful friendships along the way. She was a lifetime member of the Appleton VFW 2778 where she was a president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Carol was also active at her church where she participated in many women's groups and helped put together the weekly bulletins. Something dear to her heart was making gowns for still born babies and donating them throughout the area to thirteen different hospitals. She loved bowling, spending time at the family cottage, her canine fur balls, and the great outdoors - but most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

    Carol is survived by her husband, William Remter, Appleton; her son, Michael (Pam) Remter, Town of Buchanan; two daughters: Sue (Steve) Schmidt, Larsen, WI and Laurie (Dennis) O'Dell, Greenville; 8 grandchildren: Eric Remter, Nick Schmidt, Jennifer Mocine, Courtney Schmidt, Drew Schmidt, Kristen Nickelatti, Evan Schmidt, and Weston Schmidt; 10 great grandchildren: Jacob, Joey, Josie, Landen, Owen, Aiden, Andrea, Lilyanna, Emmett, and Hailyn; 2 brothers: Roy (Judy) Bartz, Neenah and Jim (Kay) Bartz Appleton; and her sister, Elaine Jentz, Appleton.

    She was preceded in death by her grandson "Evan in Heaven", her parents Ed and Louise Bartz, mother and father-in-laws Clarence and Ruth Remter, and brother-in-law Harlon Jentz.

    A funeral service will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, October 8, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, with Rev. Dee Sim officiating. Friends and relatives may visit at the church on Saturday from 1 pm until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs at Brewster Village and Century Oaks for the compassionate care shown to Carol.

  • Note: Passed away on February 9, 2018 at the age of 87 in Neenah, Wisconsin. Roy was born on July 14, 1030 to Edwin and Louise Bartz in Appleton, WI. Roy attended Appleton High School and graduated in 1948. After high school, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years during the Korean Conflict as a tank commander and Intelligence Sergeant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After his service in the Army, Roy was joined in marriage to Judy White on June 22, 1957 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

    Roy earned his BA degree with honors from UW-Madison in 1958. After college Roy was hired by Marathon Corporation as an industrial engineer and worked in many states. Roy later was employed by Appleton Papers to improve their safety and manufacturing operations. Roy retired from Appleton Papers in 1992 after 42 years of employment.

    Roy is survived by his loving wife Judy; his children Tom (Cindy), Steven (Sally), and David (Cheryl); grandchildren Nate (Jessica), Chris, Angela, Andrew, and Alex, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brother of Elaine (the late Harlon) Jentz, and James (Kay) Bartz. Roy is preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol (Bill) Remter.

    Memorial visitation will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 809 S. Commercial Street, Neenah on Friday February 16, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services at 11:00 AM with Military Honors to follow. Roy will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park at a later date. A memorial fund in Roy’s name will also be established at a later date.

Bob was full of conversation and was always there to listen and guide. He was a loving father and grandfather.

    Survivors include his wife, Rita; children, Jim (Kristin) Mayer and their children, John, Jacob and Jordan; Lisa (Tony) Van Lannen and their children, Sidney, Jackson and Celia; Matt (Dani) Mayer and their children, Taylor, Amber, Ashton and Logan; father, Merlin Mayer; sister, Sue (Larry) Zimonick; brother, Steve Mayer.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Ione Mayer; brother, Tom; grandson, Tommy.
