  • Note: Joseph W. Stein, 91, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Joseph was born February 16, 1925, to the late Peter and Mary (Matzke) Stein. On September 2, 1950, he married Ruth Bohne, at St. Patrick's Church in Green Bay. They were privileged to share 51 years of marriage together. Joseph enjoyed watching the Packers, and playing armchair quarterback. He has always had a love for baseball, and was still rooting on the Brewers, watching almost every game. Joseph took great pride in taking care of his lawn and feeding the birds. He loved to be with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Pius Church, Little Suamico.

Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946, serving two tours of duty in World War II. He was then employed with the Norcore Corporation, where he met Ruth, the love of his life, and later worked for The Larsen Company, until his retirement in 1989. He was a very hard worker; there wasn't anything he couldn't repair, and never complained about the long hours he worked. Joseph was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by one son, Steven (Jean), Green Bay; three daughters, Barbara Yahnke, Krakow, Ellie DeRuyter, Green Bay, and Carol Stein, Green Bay; grandchildren, Jason and Eric Stein, Sara DeRuyter, Matthew (Amber) and Jacob Yahnke, Jennifer and Joseph Stein, all of Green Bay. Great-Grandchildren, Jaida Tong, Matthew Stein, Ariah Vogels, Jude and Leo Yahnke. He is also survived by one sister Bernice DeBroux, Allouez; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on April 1, 2002, and his oldest son, Lynn, on November 21, 2014. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine and Leonard Wysocki, Evelyn and Wilfred Brilliant, and brother-in-law Arnold DeBroux, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln, Green Bay, on Friday, September 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. all at the church.
