Timothy Wydeven Tried to Crawl Under Moving Car
Kimberly -- Timothy Wydeven, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Wydeven, 265 S. Ann St., Kimberly, was decapitated about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday as he crawled under a parked railway car of the Chicago and North Western Railway Co. Switching operations were in progress on the tracks south of the community near Ann Street.
The boy was returning from nearby woods with a playmate Jeff Brunett, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs.???, 303 Mathew St., after the two had gathered wood for a scour patrol project.
The boys had cut stiks for use as scout flagstafs and a log on which to carve the patrol name for Triip 19, Holy Name School of which both were members. Switching operations were in progress as the boys returned through the railroad yard.
    Diesel Pushed Cars
The Brunett boy told Bernard Kemps, Outagamie County coroner and Kimberly policeman Chris DeLeuw that he went around the end of several parked railroad cars and Tim apparently attempted to crawl under the cars, carrying the sticks, when the diesel engine backed into the string of parked cars.
Brunett said he heard sticks snap and when he looked saw Tim between the rails and (line unreadble) ran to the Carl Bunnow house and told Mrs. Bunnow to call the police.
Meanwhile, the body was found by D. L. Keough, 1601 Sullivan Ave., Kaukauna, conductor, who noticed boots under the train car as switching operations continued on another set of tracks.
The youth was declared dead at the scene by an area physician. Engineer was Norman Piehl, 312 E. 18th St., Kaukauna and brakemen were John Incha, Antigo, and Ralph Dusenbury, Kaukauna.
Timothy is survived by his parents, one sister, three brothers and his grandparents.
