    Brillion – Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Giese, aged 90, long-time resident of Brillion, were held at the Luecker Funeral Home and at the Immanuel Evangelical Church with interment in the village cemetery.
    Deceased, nee Bertha Krueger, was born Sept. 9, 1851 at Jackson, Wis. Her marriage to August Giese took place in 1875 at Maple Grove, Wis., and the couple settled on a farm near that place, where they lived until 1920 when they came to Brillion. Mr. Giese passed away in 1934, but Mrs. Giese continued to live here until last September when she broke up housekeeping to go to Wrightstown to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ida Zuehl, where she passed away Saturday night. Besides the daughter in Wrightstown, survivors are two sons, Robert of Brillion and Charles of Maple Grove; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Giese was a charter member of the Ladies Aid society of the Immanuel Evangelical Church of which she was a member since residing in Brillion.

    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. E.A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Mr. Giese was born Dec. 7, 1889, at Maple Grove, son of the late August and Bertha Krueger Giese. He married Theresa Geiger in 1913 at DePere. They farmed in Maple Grove and operated a tavern in Whitelaw.

    Survivors include a son, Earl, of Rt. 2, Brillion; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Cora) Grall of Whitelaw and Mrs. Victor (Mary) Srelich of Wrightstown; 17 grandchildren
    and 10 great grandchildren. His wife, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

    Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

    She was born in the town of Brillion in 1888, the daughter of the lateMr. and Mrs. Simon Geiger. In 1913, she was married to Charles Giese at De Pere. In 1936 the couple settled in Brillion and just recently they had moved to Whitelaw to live. She was a member of the St. Michael's church in Whitelaw

    She is survived by her husband, Charles, one son, Earl, Maple Grove;two daughters, Mrs. Cora Grall, Whitelaw, and Mrs. Lena Frelich,Maple Grove; five brothers, Daniel and Peter, both of Brillion, Andrew,Neenah, John Chippewa Falls, Robert, Maple Grove; two sisters, Mrs.Thomas Brantmeier, Glenmore, Wis., and Mrs. Richard Vogel; six grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. at the Luecker funeral home,and at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's church in Whitelaw. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    The body may be viewed at the Lucker funeral home from Saturday eveninguntil time of services.

John Maile

  • Note: John Maile, a prominent farmer of the town of Brillion, died at his home last Monday. Decedent was born at Waukesha in the year 1860, coming to the town of Brillion in 1882, and has there resided ever since. He is survived by three sons, Otto, George and Daniel, and by four daughters, Mrs. Robt. Giese of Medford, Mrs. Ed. Gadiske of our city, Mrs. Emil Lemke of Medford and Miss Christine at home.
    Also two brothers, Jacob of the town of Brillion and Gottlieb of Milwaukee. The bereaved widow and family have the sincere sympathy of the community. The funeral will take place tomorrow at the Lutheran church in this city conducted by Rev. Sauer. Interment in the town cemetery.

  • Note: Mrs. John Maile, 76, died early this morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence Boettcher in Brillion. She had lived there for three months. The funeral will be held at Trinity Lutheran church at Brillion, the Rev. M. F. Sauer will officiate.

    Mrs. Maile was born Amelia Kobs on March 26, 1965 in Germany. She came to America with her parents when she was four years old and settled on a farm near Hilbert.

    She was married to John Maile in 1885 and the couple established their home on a farm four miles west of Brillion. Mr. Maile died 23 years ago, but Mrs. Maile continued residence on the farm until three years ago when she went to live with her children.

    Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Robert Giese of Manitowoc, Mrs. Emil Lemke of Medford and Mrs. Louis Schroeder of Chilton; two sons, George of Brillion and Daniel of Sherwood; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Lieb of Chilton, Mrs. Louis Scharf of Brillion and Mrs. William Schneider of High Cliff; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
