  • Note: Joletta M. Mommaerts, 76, a resident of Columbus, Wis., and formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., Lincoln, Neb., and Green Bay, Wis., passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

    Joletta Marie was born the daughter of Carl and Marie (Tielens) Kaster on Dec. 12, 1937 in Cudahy, Wis. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay. Joletta was married to Kenneth F. Mommaerts on Nov. 9, 1957 in Green Bay.

    Joletta was very involved with the Catholic Church. She was both creative and artistic especially in painting. Joletta enjoyed volunteering and organized many art shows with the Church of the Risen Christ in Lincoln, Neb. She loved being around people and was a wonderful friend. Joletta especially enjoyed entertaining her family and friends.

    Joletta is survived by her children, Timothy Stanford Mommaerts, Kelly Jo Mommaerts and Mary Margaret Mommaerts; her grandchildren, Kara Lee Wieland, Kasey Jo Mommaerts, and Jules Kenneth Mommaerts; her great-grandchild, Nylah Mossop; her brother, Jack Kaster; her nephew, Steve Lamal and further survived by other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 2009; her son, Paul in 2007; and her sister, Pat Fischer.

    A celebration of Joletta's life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the home of Kelly Mommaerts, 622 S. Lewis St., Columbus, Wis., beginning at 4:30 p.m.

    Memorials in Joletta's name may be directed to the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association , c/o Kelly Mommaerts, 622 S. Lewis St., Columbus, WI 53925.

  • Note: Bernice Mary (Smits) Lutsey, 86, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009. She was born in De Pere, on Aug. 20, 1922, to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Smits. She graduated from East De Pere High School and later moved to Chicago where she met and married her first husband, James Gould, who preceded her in death. Bernice then married Thomas Lutsey Sr,. who also preceded her in death.

    She was a saleswoman and owner of The Knothole Bookstore in Green Bay and Fish Creek for 20 years after she raised her six children. She was an avid golfer, bowler, seamstress, and huge sports fan. Bernice was a member of Oneida Golf Club and also Royal Scott Golf Club. She was a longtime member of St. Willebrord Catholic Church.

    Survivors include her five children, Jeffrey Gould, Ronald Gould, Mary Diane Gould, Sandra Gould and Debra (James) Schroeder; four grandchildren, Jeremy Schroeder, Janelle (Brett) Moorhouse, John Schroeder, and Thomas Schroeder; and sisters and brothers, Omer L. (Pat) Smits, Delores C. Novachek, Luanne Evelyn (Gene) Vandenberg and Richard R. Smits.

    Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Gould; two sisters, Mildred A. (Arthur) Van Lanen and Betty A. (Jay) Dreis; and brother-in-law, Paul Novachek.

    Family and friends may call Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St., Green Bay, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Mass of Christian burial will be at the church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth DeGroot O. Praem officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.   • Note: Omer L. Smits, 86, of Town of Rockland, passed away in De Pere on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was born January 5, 1927 in De Pere, a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Smits. On December 29, 1992 in Escanaba, MI he married the former Patricia Diener.

    Omer was a member of the De Pere Men's Club, St. Mary Catholic Community Church, St. Mary Home School Association, and a 4-H Chairman of Leaders. He also was on the Brown County Drainage Board for 32 years, the Town Chairman of Rockland, and a school bus driver in East De Pere for over 30 years. Omer enjoyed his time with gardening, working at flea markets and hickory trees and their nuts.

    Omer is survived by his wife Patricia Smits; 11 children: Diane Fonder, Gary Smits, Dave (Mary) Smits, Dan (Jan) Smits, Sue (Jae) Houtman, Steven (Lynn) Smits, Barb (Tracy) Meyer, Mike (Patti) Smits, Kevin (Michelle) Smits, Rick (Elaine) Smits, and Lisa (Tom) Wojcichowski; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; step sons Bill (Patti) Ruggles and Mike (Liz) Ruggles, and siblings: Richard Smits, Delores Novacheck, and LuAnn (Gene) Vandenberg. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Eunice Smits, son Don Smits, grandson Chad Smits, and his sisters: Bernice, Mildred, and Betty.

    Family and friends may visit on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, 4805 Sportsmans Dr, Town of Ledgeview. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
