    DEATH OF THEO. BROCHTRUP

    Had Been a Resident of Butler County Many Years

    Theodore Brochtrup, respected resident of Butler county for many years, passed away at 6:25 o'clock Saturday morning, Dec. 20, at his home in north David City from complications following a year and a half of failing health. He was in his 76th year.

    Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 9:30 a.m. Monday in charge of Rev. W. A. Murphy. Music was by the church choir. The pallbearers were B. H. Eiting, D. E. Gillespie, L. J. Kearney, John Lanspa, J. D. Nichols and J. J. Reisdorff. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

    In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Sister Mary Adela and Sister Helen Charles of Denver, Colo., Miss Josephine Brochtrup of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brochtrup of North Platte.

    Born in Hollandtown, Wis., October 6, 1866, son of Bernard and Ann Brochtrup, Theo. Brochtrup came to Butler county at an early age. He was married in Center township November 16, 1890, to Mary Lettellier, who survives him, as do their six children, two sons and four daughters, Leo Brochtrup, Mrs. Cecelia Behrns and Mrs. Elsie Birkel of David City, Sister Mary Adela, of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Betty Hanser of New York City and Louis Brochtrup at home. Mr. Brochtrup also is survived by 11 grandchildren and two brothers, Bernard Brochtrup of Columbus, O., and Frank Brochtrup of Burbank, Calif.

    Mr. Brochtrup was a farmer for many years, moving to David City in 1924. He served as city councilman several years ago. He was a good husband and father, a man of pleasant ways, and had many friends. He was a devout member of the Catholic church.
