    John Hopfensperger

    John Hopfensperger, 66, 313 E. 9th St., Kaukauna, died at Madison at 6:15 Thursday morning after an illness of two months. He was born October 19, 1895 in Darboy. He operated a butcher shop on 3rd St. in Kaukauna from 1921 to 1933 and sold out to enter the cattle buying business. He was a member to the St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna.

    Survivors include the widow; his stepmother; Mrs. Nellie Hopfensperger, route 4, Appleton;l two daughters, Miss Bette Hopfensperger, Milwaukee, and Mrs. James Koenen, Port Washington; one son, James, Appleton; three brothers, Alois, route 1, De Pere, Charles, route 3, Kaukauna, and Arthur, route 3, Appleton; five half brothers, Joseph, Richard, Reynold and Earl, all of route 4, Appleton, and Elmer, route 3, Kaukauna; three sisters, Mrs. Regina Van Denzen, Kaukauna, Mrs. Anna Brown, Menasha, and Mrs. Earl Coffey, Milwaukee; four half sisters, Mrs. Edward Steidl, Kaukauna, Mrs. Otto Lemke, Neenah, Mrs. Robert Lehrer, Shiocton and Mrs. Al Thiel, Sherwood; and four grandchildren.

    Friends may call after 7 o'clock Saturday evening at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evening. The cortege will form at 8:30 Monday morning at the funeral home and services will be conducted at 9 o'clock at the St. Mary Catholic church.

    Age 78, died Wednesday, February 1, 1995 at a local hospital after a long illness. Lillian was born October 20, 1916 in Kaukauna to the late Walter and Katherine (Dolan ) Martzahl. On June 10, 1936 she married Donald J. Hopfensperger, he preceded her in death in 1973. She had been employed by Kaap's Restaurant and Stieffel's Men's clothing store for many years. Mrs. Hopfensperger was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital in surgical support and the gift shops. She was a member of Annunciation Parish and Annunciation Ladies Guild.

    Survivors include her children and their spouses; David and Ann Hopfensperger, Leesburg, Fl.; Tom and Cindy Hopfensperger, San Francisco, Ca.; Karen and Ted Deprey and Dick and Sally Hopfensperger, all of Green Bay; her grandchildren; Annie, Joey, Heather, Shannon, Tom, Terri, Timmy, Karl and Nora; two brothers and a sister in-law; Bob Martzahl, Kaukauna; Bill and Dorothy Martzahl, Darboy; two sisters and a brother in-law; Mrs. Donald (Mary) Lappen, Pat and Dick Siebers, all of Kaukauna; a close brother in-law and his wife, Cy and Dorothy Hopfensperger, Green Bay; her mother in-law Grace Hopfensperger, Mill Center.

    She was preceded in death by he husband Donald; a sister in-law, Ceil Martzahl, and a brother in-law, Don Lappen.

    Friends may call at the Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. Green Bay from 4 until 8 PM Friday. Parish wake service at 7:30 PM Friday. Friends may also call at Nativity Of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St. from 10 to 11 AM Saturday. Funeral at 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Tom Long officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. A memorial fund has been established in her name to benefit the Alzheimers Foundation. She was loved and will be missed by family and friends.

    Ted died peacefully in the arms of his wife, Karen, after a battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by many; Karen, his wife; four children, Lindy, Teddy, Stuart and Betsy; step-children Terri and Tom Schneider and Tom's wife Silvia; two grandchildren Sevaeh and Erin. He is also survived by his brother David and two sisters, Monica and Ceilia, as well as in-laws, Tom and Cindy Hopfensperger, Dick and Sally Hopfensperger, many nieces and nephews.

    There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 30, 10-11 AM. followed by a short service officiated by Father Jack Herper at Nativity Parish in Green Bay. Goodbye my Ted..the uy who said it like it was.
