    Truyman, Jerome J. Jerome J. Truyman, Kaukauna, age 84, died on Sunday September 23, 2007, at home. Jerry was born October 25, 1922, to the late Benedict and Theresa (DeBeukelaer) Truyman in Kaukauna. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Jerry married the former Marie Vils on February 14, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Together they shared 57 years of marriage. Jerry was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed golf and time with his family who meant so much to him. He was a longtime member of St. Al's Parish and was active with St. Vincent De Paul since 1967.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Truyman; two daughters: Amy (John) Moore, Kaukauna; Jenny (William) Hammen, Kaukauna; three grandchildren: William (Gretchen) Hammen, Elizabeth Hammen and Gregory Hammen; three step grand children: Ben Moore, Sam (Tracy) Moore and Kendra (Scott) Wegand; four step great grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Laura) Truyman; two sisters: Lorraine Fuerst and Evelyn Knapp and sister in law, Geraldine Truyman. He is further survived by his wife's family, sisters-in-law, Rose Voigt, Grace Jansen and Stella Vils, brother-in-law, Richard Vils, many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Benedict Truyman and brothers in law, William Knapp and Robert Fuerst. He is further preceded in death by his wife's family, brothers-in-law, Joseph Vils, Frank Vils, Lawrence Voigt, Vincent Jansen, and Clarence Hansen, sisters-in-law, Blanche Hansen, Alice Vils, and Donna Vils.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL CATHOLIC CHURCH at ST. ALOYSIUS PARISH, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday at Church from 3 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.   • Note: Formerly of Kaukauna, died in a Green Bay nursing center on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at the age of 86. Dorothy was born in Hollandtown on May 10, 1916 daughter of the late William and Antoinette (Josephs) Fink. On December 28, 1932 Dorothy married Robert Nushart in Hollandtown; he preceded her in death on August 17, 1979. For many years, Dorothy worked as the head cook at the Kaukauna Elks Lodge, and later supervised the delicatessen at Larry’s Market. Many will remember her as an excellent cook and superb homemaker.

    She is survived by her daughter: Carol (Greg) Vander Velden of DePere; two sons: Ken (Mary Lou) Nushart of Soldotna, Alaska and Cliff (Karen “Suzie”) Nushart of Askeaton; ten grandchildren: Kevin (Susie) Nushart, Keith (Dawn) Nushart, Kim (Steve) Russell, Kris (Jason) Stuart, Craig (Bonnie) Nushart, Curt (Annette) Nushart, Kamie Nushart, Rob Van Eyck, Kathy Van Eyck, and Joe (Lori) Van Eyck; three step-granddaughters: Cindy (Russ) Forseth, Pam (Joe) Sturm, Lisa (Mark) Stevens; fourteen great-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter Katy; a brother: Robert Fink of Wausaukee; three sisters: Mabel (Steve) McKinley of Appleton, Agnes Liebergen of Kaukauna, and Ruth (Walter) Verhaagh of Green Bay; three sisters-in-law: Rita Fink of Kaukauna, Josephine Granger of Kaukauna, and Mabel Nushart of Pembine. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, a grandson Kip Nushart in 2000, brothers Earl (Marcella) Fink, Elmer Fink, and Sylvester Fink a sister Florence (Larry) Schroeder; brothers-in-law Nestor Liebergen, Elmer Granger, Richard Nushart, John (Helen) Nushart, and George “Buddy” (Ruth) Nushart; and by sisters-in-law Eva (Barney) Eppinger, Marie “Tootie” (Joe) Hurst, Ceily (Wilfred) Siebers, and Lillian (Bill) Lenz.

    The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2002 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM, Cap. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the hour of the services.

    Dorothy will be remembered by all as a woman who dedicated her life to the service of others. Even near the end of her life, while being challenged by Alzheimer’s Disease and using a walker, she continued to be of help to those she loved.

    The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Mary Hospital in Green Bay for the wonderful care you extended to all of us while mom was a patient. And for those of you who took care of mom at Manor Care West for the past six years: You cared for her as though she was your very own; she could have been in no better hands. Thank you so much.

  • Note: Carol Vander Velden, Green Bay, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, September 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born in Kaukauna on January 12, 1936, daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Fink) Nushart. On June 2, 1955, she married Joseph Van Eyck. Later, on October 6, 1972, Carol married Greg Vander Velden. Greg preceded her in death in 2004. In her younger years, Carol worked at Badger Northland in Kaukauna, a job she really loved. Later she worked as a switchboard operator and receptionist at St. Mary and St. Vincent Hospitals in Green Bay. Carol enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and hunting with Greg, but most of all she will be remembered as an avid Badger and Packer fan.

    She also treasured time spent with her family: Rob (Patti) Van Eyck, Kathy Van Eyck, and Joe (Lori) Van Eyck, all of Green Bay; her step-children: Cindy (Russ) Forseth of South Carolina and Pam (Joe) Sturm of Appleton; her grandchildren: Tiffani Van Eyck Burkard, Marissa Van Eyck, and Makenna Van Eyck; step-great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Sarah, Violette, Emily, Elissa, Travis, and Troy; three great-grandchildren: Katy, Bradley, and Aiden; eight step-grandchildren; a brother: Cliff (Suzie) Nushart of Greenleaf; and a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Nushart of Alaska.

    Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Greg Vander Velden, her former husband Joe Van Eyck, a brother Ken Nushart, and a nephew Kip Nushart.

    Derks, Mary M. (Lauer)


    Mary M. (Lauer) Derks, 79, Combined Locks, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. She was born in Stephensville, on June 22, 1930, the daughter of the late John and Magdalene (Kettner) Lauer. On Nov. 20, 1951, she married her husband of 58 years, William H. Derks.

    Mary is survived by her husband, William; children, Mary (Pat) Rausch, Joseph (Sandy) Derks, Patricia (Martin) McGee, Linda (Michael) Nieuwenhuis, Judith (Michael) Abhold, Barbara (Richard) Parker, Gerard Derks, Allen Derks and Ann (Reed) Vander Bloemen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Leon Lauer, JoAnn Vandeyacht, Anton Lauer and Sr. Antonice Lauer.

    Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Norbert Lauer.

    A private family gathering was held.

  • Note: Daniel J. Derks, age 63, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Dan was born in Appleton on April 8, 1942, son of the late William and Frances (Van Dyke) Derks. Dan attended the Kaukauna High School, and on May 10, 1968 married the former Carol Urban; she survives. For over forty years Dan was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna and was a member of the Quarter Century Club there. As a young man, he volunteered to be a Girl Scout Leader for his daughter’s troop, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing with Carol. He also enjoyed movies, music of all kinds, especially the rock and roll of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s which his band specialized in playing. Everyone will remember Dan’s love of his yard, his gardens, and his pond. Dan cared for countless pets over the years, and was especially fond of the dogs, cats, birds, and fish that currently shared his home.

    Survivors include his wife: Carol Derks of Kaukauna; a son: Kevin (Becky) Urban of Kaukauna and their daughter Kendra; and a daughter: Kacy Urban of DePere; four brothers: William (Mary) Derks of Combined Locks; Robert Derks of Kimberly; John Derks of London, England; and Thomas (Sandra) Derks of Kimberly; a sister-in-law: Kathleen (Roger) Hibbs of Atlanta; a brother-in-law: Michael (Lori) Urban; and his mother-in-law: Erna Urban of Kaukauna. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Ronald and Donald Derks, sisters-in-law Marcy Derks and Nancy (Donald) Sternhagen, and his father-in-law Michael Urban.

    Memorial Services for Dan will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2005 at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Douglas Fleischfresser officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
