  • Note: Beatrice M. "Bea" Murphy, 101, Appleton, passed away on March 27, 2015. Bea was born on October 23, 1913 to Gerhard "Gerry" and Annie (Pautz) Schaumburg in Osborn (Seymour) Wisconsin. On October 28, 1934 she married Francis "Frank" H. Murphy in Isaar Wisconsin and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1995. Bea was a hard working homemaker, mother and dairy farmer. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton since 1948. She was a proud member of the Willow Hill Homemakers and a Grand Chute area sewing club. She loved playing cards, especially Sheephead, baking and discussing and following politics. Bea was a very kind-hearted woman. She made friends easily, always found the best in others, focused on that and tried to bring out the best in herself and others.

    Bea will be sadly missed by her children: Marvin and Ruth Ann Murphy of Fremont; Jerome and Jan Murphy of Grand Chute; David and Lynn Murphy, of Greenville; daughter-in-law Judy Murphy; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother Gerald (Gladys) Schaumburg; sister-in-law Elaine (Mrs. Maynard) Schaumburg as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis, one son Franklin, one daughter-in-law Marilyn Murphy, siblings: Marie (Gordon) Bunkleman; Margaret (Maurice) Barclay; Florence (Herbert) Rusch; Vivian (Marvin) Druckrey; Dorothy (Carlton) Stellmacher; infant Eunice Schaumburg; Bernice (Jim) Riehl; Maynard Schaumburg; brother-in-law Francis Biel.

    Friends may call on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida Street in Appleton.   • Note: With family surrounding her, our loving mother left us on July 15,2003, to be
    with the lord, as she courageously ended her battle with lung cancer.
    Irene was born on February 28, 1917, the daughter of John and Sybella
    Appleton. She graduated from Outagamie County Teacher's College in Kaukauna at
    the age of 18. For three years she taught all eight grndes in a one·room schoolhouse,
    known as Forest View School, Five Comers.
    On June 7,1938, she married the love ofher life - Henry, affectionately known
    as "Heinie" Weiland. Heinie and Irene were blessed with nine children: Judy (Jim)
    Van Boxtel of Kimberly, Jack (Judy) of Minneapolis, Jerry (Mary) of Darboy, Jay
    (Joan) of Fond du Lac, Jesse James (Sandy) of Green Bay, JetT (Anne) of Appleton,
    Joe (Deb) of Green Bay, Jamie (lynn) of Kaukauna, and Janie (Steve) Dc Groot of
    Darboy. Mother thought the world ofher 27 grandchildren. Hcr one wish was to live
    long enough to sec all her grandchildren grow up. As a nurturing grandmother, she
    always took the time to listen to what was going on in their lives. Her grandchildren
    m: Perry (Cathy) Van Boxtel, Dan Van Boxtel, Jill (Bob) Spietz, and Shane Van
    Boxtel; Tom (Teresa) Weiland and Holly (Jell) Jacobson; Jody (John) Moder and
    Tim (Martie) Weiland; Corri (Doug) Stuyvenberg, Erin (Peter) Cobb, Brad, and
    Katie Weiland; Jessica Jamie (with fiance Tim Krueger), Jerrod, Nathan and Nicholas
    Weiland; Neil (with fiancee Jessica Zierden), Laura, Pamela, and leah Weiland;
    Ryan, John, and Greg Weiland; Abby, Ben, and Lee Weiland; and Angela De Groot.
    She was further blessed with 16 great ·randchildren, a number that continues to grow.
    After celebrating 40 yeaTS of marriage, her lifetime partner, "Heinie", died on
    November 30, 1978. Not wanting to have too much time on her hands, she would
    now occupy heTselfin numerous areas ofvolunteer work. She spent countless hours
    at Appleton Medical Center, and 51. Paul's Home with their volunteer services. At
    her home parish of Holy Cross, Kaukauna, she was a lay eucharistic minister, taught
    CCD classes, served on the parish council, and was recognized for hours spent
    helping children learn to read. Anytime left was spent on social activities such as
    Lady Knight's of Columbus, Ladies of Holy Cross, the Valley Ladies, and several
    card clubs. She truly enjoyed playing cards with her brother and sister, and in·laws.
    Jhey are as follows: sister, Honey (Bill) Blunck; and brother, Gene (June) Appleton;
    sisters·in·law: Betty Appleton, Wanda Appleton, Grace Weiland, and Frances
    (Weiland) Moudry.
    Irene was preceded in death by heT sister, Helen (Vande Hey); and brothers:
    Jack, Harold, and Bob Appleton.

    Maguire. and especially to Cherry Meadows Hospice - Theda Care at Home for

    Age 64, died suddenly Thursday evening. He was born November 6, 1914 in Kaukauna where he farmed and lived all of his life. He was also employed at Stokley Van Camp for over 40 years. Mr. Weiland was a member of the Kaukauna Knights of Columbus Council 1033, the Holy Cross Parish Finance Committee and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his wife, Irene, Appleton; two daughters: Mrs. James (Judy) Van Boxtel and Mrs. Steve (Jane) De Groot, both of Kaukauna; seven sons: John, Minneapolis; Jerry, Appleton; Jay, Fond du Lac; Jesse James, Green Bay, Jeff, Little Chute, Joseph, Kaukauna, and Jamie, at home; two brothers: Bernard, Black Creek, and Louis, Kaukauna; three sisters: Mrs. Frances Mertens, Miss Agnes Weiland, and Mrs. Harold (Mary) Fassbender, all of Kaukauna; and 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Mike Hoffman officiating. Entombment will be in the Start of Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna, after 2 p.m. Sunday. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday.
